Half the time it’s the mod starting the conversation. He literally just can’t help himself
I thought about deleting this post, then I figured I'd just tell you to go f*** yourself instead.

Las Vegas A’s has a nice ring to it.
In no way wiill they change the team name from the Athletics. Its been the name of the franchise since 1901 across 3 cities.

Transit / transportation from outside Toronto proper is a big deterrent. The GO train is like $25 round trip from Oshawa and isn't exactly fast. It's a pretty big turn off, especially when the alternative is 4K HD at home + all the comforts of home.
I feel like, as a non-Toronto person near Toronto, I would go to a lot more games if the transit or traffic situation was better.
Pro-tip (that worked at least last year): Pre-book parking through the Ripley's Aquarium website. You'll get a flat rate parking price that's generally a lot lower than the "event price", and it's easily walkable to the SkyDome.
That said, still not worth it to me.

I used to go to like 25-30 Blue Jays games per season when I was in university. Had that package of seasons I bought from someone second row behind the away dugout and games I didn't have tickets for would buy $5-10 tickets off scalpers for the 500 level and sit in my friends sections (who were ushers) down in the 200 or 100 level. I now maybe only go to like 2 or 3 at most and try to grab a Postseason game every series.
I would now rather sometimes watch the game in the comfort of my own home on my brand new Sony Bravia 65" OLED TV, have my own snacks and drink my own beer.
I'm okay with now going to 2 to 3 games per season, and if I go will try to get 200 Level seats around 1B or 3B line which are decent value. Also, would rather save and spend money on Postseason games instead of regular season, unless there is a special team or player I want to see.
In terms of other ballparks, I'll try to get really good seats since I'm visiting from out of town, even if it means splurging a bit. But for the most part, tickets for ballparks in the US aren't that expensive if you buy on StubHub before game time.
I watch ~150 games a season. I live <1 hour from the stadium and I have been to 1 game in the past decade (the tickets were a wedding gift). I don't miss going to games at all.

Looks like A's are headed to Vegas, not surprising but a good move. This should help Nashville And Montreal, Portland is not getting a team like some keep saying, they can't even hold onto walmart https://nypost.com/2023/03/06/walmart-to-close-remaining-portland-stores-as-city-faces-shoplifting-crisis/
https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/36241520/oakland-agree-purchase-land-las-vegas-strip
That "shoplifting crisis" angle is such horse s***, but even papers that aren't ridiculous, bottom tier tabloid ******** ran with it for a while (until industry spokespeople were forced to admit that it was a total fabrication/lie...)

The armchair psychologist in me sees a guy who is not handling pressure well (likely gets himself too amped up, IMO). Choked in the playoffs, choked on opening day, and now pushing way too hard trying to recover something.
Of course, I accept the possibility that I'm completely off base here.

The days of an average income person being able to afford a good seat at any sporting event are dissappearing
Sorry poor people, there's profit to be made (at the expense of all else)

Abom +10???
f***
Honestly, he should get double points since the bench player was Espinal...
-
Seems really odd that they had 13 games on the road to start the season and only back for 3 games before going out on the road again... Should have given them 2 or 3 series at home to build some momentum and keep the newly reno-ed stadium hype going.
They were home for 6 games...

People have already dubbed those Bleachers the Oshawa seats lol
As an Oshawamanian, I approve.

Looks like we've got "Good Richards" today. Wish he could do this every time.

So what are the expectations for the Blue Jays this coming season. Are the play offs a good shout?
There's a lot of variance in a baseball season, but the Jays have a VERY strong team, and I would be surprised if they didn't make the playoffs (baseball's playoffs are a whole other story, once the playoffs start, any team could realistically win any game)

I would like to have seen what the spin rates look like with velocity numbers side by side. That being said, it isn't uncommon for spin rates to decrease in later innings so I'm not sure what the arguement is. Seems like incomplete data to draw conclusions.
It's not a bad thing to take note of, but only really in case it happens again...

There’s no bad Scotch bud.

Lots of blended scotches are mediocre to poor, and I, personally, HATE Islays.

Are we really worried about Vlad’s power??
Come on now
Seriously, 99th percentile for max exit velocity, 94th percentile for hard hit percentage... His statcast page is red AF.

9 K9 / 1.90 BB/9 will play, a trend that started in spring training its reasonable to think he may have found something and might continue to pitch well for the 5th spot in the rotation.
He also was considerably better last season when he moved to the pen. A 16.2 K/9 and a 2.28 xFIP with a .371 BABIP likely making the line looks a bit worse than it should be.
There has been real progress, and while I'm still expecting a few stinkers, I think we're seeing the results of a guy who really put the work in to get a handle on his excellent stuff.
-
f***, if Franco injured Romano I will f*** his mom while he's forced to watch.
-
-
BABIP'd yet again.
.140 xBA, and Margot's xBA was .280...
-
Jansen: 106.6 EV, .610 xBA.
He's starting to look better at the dish, that bodes well.
