  1. Probably. I'd like to see him brought back on a one year pillow contract. The FA market is bare thin for CF's and Pompey is not quite ready yet.
  2. Chicken Souvlaki, Lot's of tzatziki sauce, Dakos, Taraosalata's and a pile of pita bread. Not sure what he had for his main course though.
  3. Yeah. I would like to see Norris start next year in AAA and have him as depth when there's a key injury. Kinda like what we did with Stroman this year.
  4. I'll set up a 3 person free game so you can get use to it. I know Big John will also be game.
  5. This. I enjoy playing him on FD and to be honest hoping to learn a thing or two from him. His stats are really impressive and you can't put up his win totals without knowing baseball forwards and backwards.
  6. Finally! Your ban is over. I'm going to do a 50/50 league tonight on FD. Who do you like tonight? I like Paxton @ 5500, Norris @ 2700 and Puig @ 2800. Thoughts?
  7. Wiggins press conference is on sportsnet 360 right now.
  8. Not that it really matters but the Rays protest was declined. Jays officially get the win. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/jays-win-preserved-as-mlb-denies-rays-protest/
  9. Good move. It's time for Pillar to show he can hit at the MLB level though.
  10. He put up a 4.1 fWAR season in 2013 hitting 101 wRC+. Let's say you project him to hit around 110 wRC+ next season he should still put up around 4fWAR and that's not taking into account his elite framing.
  11. It was just an example. The Reds pretty much have to trade at least one starter this off season with Latos probably being the most likely to go. Let's say you trade Aaron Sanchez and a low level prospect for him. Then you still have Latos, Stroman, Hutch, Buehrle and Happ/Norris/Nolin
  12. Martin is appealing for this team for a couple reasons. 1. As you mentioned elite framing and defense is under valued so it's an opportunity to cash in on an under valued skill set while not sacrificing offense to get it. Ie - Kratz. 2. It's a chance to acquire wins without giving up assets (talent). We all know AA has a tough time in finding wins via the FA market. Martin would represent a massive upgrade at a vital position. I personally don't give a s*** that he's Canadian, but the fact he is and knows we don't live in Igloos should put us on a equal playing field to acquire him. I'm not sure how many premium free agents will be lining up in the future to play in our s***** stadium in the good ol north unless we're clearly paying top $$. 3. Unless AA is fired we know a full scale rebuild is not going to happen. With the right moves i think this team could compete. You could probably get a top of the rotation starter from the Reds ( Matt Latos?) Add Russell Martin at catcher and maybe you can afford to trade Dickey to help pay for Martin because of the development of guys like Hutch, Stroman and Norris. A rotation of Matt Latos, Marcus Stroman, Mark Buehrle, Drew Hutchinson and JA Happ/Daniel Norris/Aaron Sanchez ect could be good enough with the Bats we have.
  13. Okay. So Front offices like the Bluejays who like OPS will like him and everyone else who likes wRC+ ( or whatever advanced metrics they use) will like him too?. Then add his elite framing and defense = $$
  14. 139 wRC+ is pretty legit. 288/411/410 (821 OPS) also legit. 369 wOBA pretty much legit too. Pretty sure most FO's can understand the value he brings.
  15. That's fair. But that means you don't have a chance to sign him. In a market where McCann gets 85 million - 2 years and 24 million Martin laughs at.
  16. His 2013 numbers would suggest he's worth it too.
  17. He was connected to steroids the last time he hit Free agency (when he put up his big 2007 and 2008) years and was coming off a 2.0 fWAR season ( 2.7 fWAR) the year before. If you think he's a 3 to 4 fWAR catcher with elite framing....he's going to get paid. See Brian McCann.
  18. *shrugs* He's going to put up a close to 5 fWAR season this year and that's not including framing - and he's one of the best. Last year...he put up a 4.1 fWAR season. The dude has tons of value. I wouldn't blink at 4 years and 60 million.
  19. Yeah. I think he's going to get a lot more then that though.
  20. That's fair. He's been complete s*** in that regard. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/sortable/index.php?cid=1667334 . He was better in 2013 though ( by a fair bit) http://www.baseballprospectus.com/sortable/index.php?cid=1668164 . Regardless...I'm ready to move on from him and i think his 5 million contract is at least moveable.
  21. Brian McCann coming off an 2.7 fWAR season born in 1984 got 5 years and 85 million. Russel Martin coming off back to back 4+ fWAR seasons born in 1983 will get...paid?
  22. He hasn't been replacement level though. He's not having a good season, but he hasn't been a disaster like JP was. (2013: JP's = -0.9 fWAR to 2014 Navarro probably around 1.7 fWAR). That's a decent upgrade, but that's not saying much if we want to be a playoff team.
  23. Do you guys think Dioner Navarro will have any trade value? He's having an ok season with the bat. 93 wRC+, 310 wOBA. Right now he's 23rd among catchers with an 1.3 fWAR so there's defenitly room to upgrade especially when you consider his framing. (he's been one of the worst framers this year) http://www.baseballprospectus.com/sortable/index.php?cid=1667334 . He makes a reasonable 5 million salary and a team like the Rangers might be interested in him. Russell Martin would be an ideal candidate. One of the best catchers in terms of framing this year and is hitting really well this year. What do you guys think he would cost? I doubt he fits into Pitts budget since he's having a monster year. Catchers are one of the most valuable positions and it might be worth the $ to invest in a guy like Martin. The fact that he's Canadian makes it likely that he wouldn't make the Jays pay an extra premium to move his family up north.
  24. Who was the 3rd person to join ^?
  25. Alright guys, since you all clearly suck at this. Feel free to reach out to me for advice/picks. i charge 3 "thanks" per pick. You're welcome.
