    Hypothetically, if there was a utility guy on the market this year who can play 2nd for us and the last 5 years he put up 1.6 fWAR, 3.2 fWAR, 1.0 fWAR 2.0 fWAR and 0.8 fWAR and we could get him for 3 years at 3 million AAV. I think we would all do the deal. I don't blame AA for that one...it was a good solid signing that just didn't work out.

    It was an okay signing at the time. He was pretty decent in LA. For whatever reason his play just fell off a cliff in 2013.

    Sounds reasonable too. I think AA would push for 2 years and a team option for a slightly higher AAV

    I may be going crazy but i could have sworn he was around 2 fWAR the last time i checked. What the hell happened to his base running? 2 years and 14 million with a team option for a 3rd (7.5 million) and 1 million buyout. I think that's what he gets.

    I think it's reasonable Aoki ends up with half the AAV of salary that Melky get's but on a shorter term and provides similar value.

    Oh absolutely it will never happen. Russell Martin would obviously be the toughest, but maybe he wants to finish his career in Canada. I doubt it since he always blows team Canada off. But if we're paying top $ i can't see why he would choose another team. Hard to say the market for Aoki but i think he's a very reasonable target. Every team could have had McCarthy on waivers mid year and passed on him. Yeah he was fantastic down the stretch but i think he's a reasonable target too.

    Ive said it before...but. Sign: Russell Martin, Nori Aoki, Brandon McCarthy Trade: Buehrle to Texas for a RP (or whatever) + Navarro to LA for Justin Turner. QO Melky and get the draft pick. Resign Brandon Morrow for closer. ( Let Santos and Janssen walk) Pick up Linds option and platoon him with Mayberry JR or Valencia Playoffs here we come.

    My dreams consist of signing Russell Martin. Aoki is not an unrealistic target for the Jays considering what his contract demands will be.
