    It wasn't 5" off though; it was off the plate but much closer than a lot of pitches the ump gave as called strikes. Now we can all agree the ump is s*** but would you rather K there looking (when its that close to the zone - cause very good chance you are going to get rung up) or try and make contact and see what happens? Sucks either way.

    That's fair but if the ump is going to give that call every single time, do you just pray he doesn't call it that one time or do you protect/grit it out?

    It was a decision with bad results. If Cease threw his slider there (which they seemingly timed), Bo probably would've been safe. He guessed wrong and Cease pumped a fastball in. Considering how the hitters were doing, I can see why he wanted to get to 3rd where a sac fly/groundout to right would've scored him. He was trying to make it happen, manufacture a run all by himself.
