It seems is though Gibbers is like that classic jaded lover. He once felt love, but it left him, and ever since then he's scared to get hurt, so he avoids it like the plague. He'd rather not try and not get hurt, than feel the sting of trying and failing.

This might be my self-centeredness coming through, but I actually think it originates from Silvergun being in my corner from when Greenwood first dumped on me.... ...Or it's entirely possible that Silvergun doesn't care nearly enough about some person he has never met in person to start a feud with another person he's never met in person because the latter has issues with the former.
