Despite no strikeouts from any Bisons' batters, Norfolk pitching kept the Herd out of the run column for the majority of the game. Lefty T.J. McFarland pitched seven and 2/3 innings, allowing just one run, in his second Triple-A start of the season. Pedro Beato recorded a perfect ninth inning for his second save of 2016. Junior Lake took McFarland deep in the top of the second, sending one over the right center field wall, for his third home run of the year. The Bisons' lead didn't last long, as Norfolk took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second as a result of a throwing error by Bisons' starter Drew Hutchison. With the bases loaded, Sharlon Schoop chopped a ball back to mound, but Hutchison's throw to the plate was offline, getting away from catcher A.J. Jimenez. Hutchison's two runs were unearned, lowering his seasonal ERA to 3.05. The Bisons' starter struck out eight Tides over six quality innings, allowing five hits and one walk. T.J. McFarland was the beneficiary of three double plays, as the Bisons failed to give Hutchison any more offensive support after the Junior Lake homer. Lake also picked up a double in the fifth inning, his first two-bagger since April 26. McFarland's seven and 2/3 innings is the longest outing for a Norfolk start this season. Ryan Tepera returned to the Herd after a stint with the Blue Jays. In his first appearance since April 24, he picked off L.J. Hoes at first to end the seventh inning, and pitched a one-two-three eighth inning. A pair of defensive highlights kept the Bisons from rallying in the eighth. Alexi Casilla shot a ball up the middle, which was corralled by a diving Corban Joseph at second, who threw to first for the out. The next batter, Darrell Ceciliani, was robbed of a hit when first baseman Trey Mancini leaped to make the catch. The Herd heads home to begin a seven game home stand. Dodd Memorial Stadium in Norwich. New Hampshire (18-17) moved above .500 for the first time since April 15, when they were 4-3. The sweep was the first four-game road sweep the Fisher Cats have recorded since they took four straight from the Binghamton Mets at NYSEG Stadium between June 30 and July 3 of 2009. The Yard Goats (23-13) tumbled out of first place in the Eastern League's Eastern Division, falling behind the Reading Fightin Phils. The series was played at Dodd Stadium while construction continues on Dunkin Donuts Park in Hartford. The Fisher Cats drew first blood in the top of the fifth against Hartford starting pitcher Harrison Musgrave (L, 5-1). The Manatees used a three-run seventh innings to take a 5-3 lead, eventually winning the game 5-4. The seventh inning for the Manatees began with a bunt single by RF Omar Garcia with the Jays up 3-2. After he stole second base, Garcia moved to third on LF Brando Diaz's single. Once the ball rolled into left field, Diaz found himself in a pickle between first and second, allowing Garcia to bolt for home and score the tying run. Diaz moved up to second on the play, and he would come around to score when CF Johnny Davis put down a sac bunt. LHP Alonzo Gonzalez (L, 1-2) fielded the bunt and threw the ball wide of first.
