Every Bison batter had at least one hit, and seven hitters had multi-hit games, with both clubs combining for 28 combined hits, and six errors. The Bisons led 8-0 in the second inning, but the Clippers slowly battled back against Buffalo, making it a one-run game in the seventh. Drew Hutchison allowed four earned runs on just three hits, all extra base hits. Though he allowed a season-high five walks, he earns his first win of not only the season, but in 15 career Triple-A starts. Casey Kotchman drilled a RBI double that scored Matt Dominguez to put Buffalo up 1-0 in the second inning. Junior Lake then connected for an opposite field two-run home run off Clippers' starter Jerret Grube, making it a 3-0 ballgame. Dalton Pompey made it 4-0, as he brought home Alexi Casilla with a RBI single. The Herd totaled five hits and two stolen bases in the second inning. The Bisons' continued their hot-hitting in the third, scoring four more runs on RBI singles by A.J. Jimenez, Alexi Casilla, Dalton Pompey, and Andy Burns. Grube's final line was two and 2/3 innings, nine hits and eight earned runs, as he falls to 0-2 on the season. The Herd scored two more runs in the fourth. Jesus Montero took reliever Toru Murata deep to lead off the inning, and Jimenez drove home Kotchman with a RBI double, increasing the Bisons' lead to 10-2. Tyler Naquin put the Clippers on the board with a two-run opposite field home run in the third, his first long ball of the season. Hutchison allowed a solo shot to Yandy Diaz in the fourth, and after walking two in the fifth, escaped the inning on a deep fly out to right field by Jesus Aguilar. In the bottom of the sixth, Yandy Diaz doubled and reached third on an error by right fielder Domonic Brown, which resulted in Chad Jenkins replacing Hutchison on the mound. Collin Cowgill drove home Diaz with a single, and Guillermo Quiroz doubled and reached third on another Buffalo error, as Cowgill scored to cut the Bisons' lead to 11-5. A nightmarish seventh inning for the Buffalo bullpen made it a one run game. 11 Clippers hitters came to the plate, scoring five runs in the inning. Three straight RBI doubles off Jenkins reduced the Bisons' lead to 11-9. With Patrick McCoy on the mound, Quiroz singled to left, and Cowgill came across to score on an error, making it a one-run game. Buffalo added two runs of insurance in the eighth, as with the bases loaded against Shawn Armstrong, two runs scored on a Junior Lake fielder's choice, and an error by second baseman Yhoxian Medina. Ben Rowan pitched two scoreless innings for the Bisons', earning his first save of the year. Buffalo has now won 14 of their last 19 games, improving to three games above .500. They are now just two games out of first place in the IL North. The Bisons now head to Toledo to take on the Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field. Scott Diamond will take the mound for the Herd on Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05. He will be opposed by former Bison Daniel Norris. BISONS NOTES: The 13 runs scored by the Bisons are the most the team has scored in a game this season. They plated 10 runs in an April 23 win over the Rochester Red Wings. The 23 combined runs for both clubs is the most involving the Herd this season, besting the previous high of 20 runs in a 14-6 loss to Syracuse on May 5. Buffalo's Thursday win is their 15 road victory this season, which passes Louisville's total for most in the IL this year… Junior Lake continues his hot hitting, driving in three runs with a home run on Thursday. Lake has homered in his last two ballgames, and now has a hit in eight of his last ten games played… The 17 Bisons' hits becomes their new season-high, as the club also totaled 16 hits in an 8-1 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on April 20. http://i.imgur.com/gSNMOFu.png http://i.imgur.com/ai8I85q.png http://i.imgur.com/Dbq363r.png http://i.imgur.com/4mkKHaB.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/2/6/0/177178260/cuts/SantosGameStory2_zlskkktt_lzwhuqm8.jpg Luis Santos TRENTON - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats got within one out of avoiding a sweep but couldn't hang on, suffering a 2-1 walkoff loss to the Trenton Thunder on Thursday at ARM & HAMMER Park in Trenton. The Fisher Cats (20-25) got their only run on just six hits, but it looked as though it would stand up before a series of hits in the ninth wrecked the game for the visitors. The Thunder (26-19) completed the four-game sweep of New Hampshire, the first time the Fisher Cats have been swept in such fashion since July 23-26 of last year at Portland. New Hampshire opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning against Trenton starting pitcher Eric Ruth. Jon Berti led off with a base hit, and swiped second for his 19th steal of the year. Dwight Smith, Jr. was retired, but Matt Dean served a single into left field, and Berti raced home to score and give New Hampshire a 1-0 lead. From there, the Fisher Cats pitching staff looked to have things well in hand. Starting pitcher Luis Santos twirled six shutout innings, allowing just six hits and fanning eight. He handed off to Matt Dermody, who gave up just one hit in 1.1 innings and whiffed two batters. Murphy Smith took over with one out in the eighth inning, walking one and striking out one before departing with the 1-0 lead in hand. The Fisher Cats loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the ninth, but Jonathan Holder (W, 3-1) was able to strike out Christian Lopes to retire the side. Wil Browning (BS; L, 1-1) took over in the bottom of the ninth, and struck out Billy Fleming and Sebastian Valle to start the inning. But Jonathan Silva singled with two outs, as did Cito Culver, putting runners at first and second. Tyler Wade sliced a single up the middle, scoring Silva and moving Culver to third. Dustin Fowler took it from there, cracking Browning's first pitch to him into left field for an RBI single to win the game. It was the first time that Browning had allowed opponents to score since his first appearance on April 11. The Fisher Cats will try to shake off the sweep Friday night at home, with righty Jeremy Gabryszwski starting for New Hampshire against right-hander Ben Lively of the visiting Reading Fightin Phils. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m., and Bob Lipman has the call on the Fisher Cats Radio Network starting at 6:15 p.m. http://i.imgur.com/2VDMRBh.png http://i.imgur.com/TNjEFUu.png http://i.imgur.com/rxoS4RL.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/3/8/0/180467380/cuts/_15_Rowley_T43A7224_buxhb877_vpsurq6t.jpg Chris Rowley DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays (21-27) used six runs over the first two innings and a season high for any Jays' starter 7.1 frames from RHP Chris Rowley (W, 3-0) in their 8-3 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers (26-21) on Thursday night. After beginning the first inning with three straight singles on Wednesday, the Jays began Thursday's home half of the first with four knocks. RF Derrick Loveless, SS Richard Urena and 3B Jason Leblebijian each came home to score in the first two frames, giving Dunedin an early 6-0 lead for Rowley. CF Anthony Alford supplied a two-run single in the second inning, extending his hit streak to ten games. LF Jonathan Davis aided with another multi-hit game as well as three RBIs. The 6-0 lead was plenty for Rowley to work with who retired 15 of the first 17 batters he faced. Rowley allowed just five singles with a walk and six strikeouts. Four of the five hits came in the sixth inning where Lakeland plated two of their three runs. The Blue Jays jumped on RHP Endrys Briceno (L, 1-3) who lasted just five outs in his start and allowing all six of Dunedin's early runs. Loveless and 1B L.B Dantzler extended hitting streaks of their own to nine and eight respectively while 2B Dickie Joe Thon's came to an end at eight. Dunedin begins six straight games with the Daytona Tortugas on Friday. The first two will be in Dunedin followed by four in Daytona. RHP Francisco Rios goes up against LHP Seth Varner Friday night with first pitch at 6:30 pm. http://i.imgur.com/qVlKswP.png http://i.imgur.com/OJUGqEd.png http://i.imgur.com/S2opgRm.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/9/4/8/180469948/cuts/Reid_Foley_di2g81cq_9yhcfv18.jpg Sean Reid-Foley LANSING, Mich. - The Fort Wayne TinCaps (24-23) scored five runs in the final three innings, capped by a two-homer, three-run ninth, to hand the Lansing Lugnuts (24-21) a 5-3 loss on Thursday night at Cooley Law School Stadium. The late turnaround spoiled a career-high seven innings from 20-year-old Lugnuts right-hander Sean Reid-Foley, who added seven strikeouts and walked just one. Lansing built a 3-0 lead following two runs in the first - including a leadoff home run from Gunnar Heidt - and a solo tally in the fourth against Fort Wayne starter Thomas Dorminy, but the TinCaps chipped away. Jhonatan Pena's RBI fielder's choice in the seventh off Reid-Foley brought the 'Caps within 3-1, and Michael Gettys's home run in the eighth off Starlyn Suriel trimmed the deficit down to one run. Lugnuts closer Dusty Isaacs (Loss, 1-1) had only allowed one unearned run in 16 relief appearances - but that was dispatched in a hurry. Austin Allen led off the ninth with a rocket of a homer to right, and the Lugnuts' lead was gone. Two batters later, Ty France singled and Pena followed with a two-run homer, giving the 'Caps their first lead of the night. Fort Wayne reliever Phil Maton (Win, 1-1) recorded the final six outs of the game, including a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth. In the loss, the Lugnuts received multi-hit performances from both designated hitter Max Pentecost (2-for-4) and shortstop J.C. Cardenas (2-for-3). Next up, Lansing embarks on a seven-game road trip to South Bend and Dayton. The trip begins with a 7:35 p.m. Friday affair, with left-hander Tayler Saucedo (1-5, 5.26) taking on South Bend Cubs left-hander Ryan Kellogg (2-3, 4.83). Kings 3 Stars of the Night 1) Luis Santos: The 25 year old RHP continued to cruise through AA going 6 shutout innings with 8 strikeouts. 2) Casey Kotchman: Kotchman had an afternoon to remember Thursday going 3/3 with 2 doubles and a walk, as the Bison mashed their way to a 13 to 10 win. 3) Sean Reid-Foley: Pimp Foley had one of his best outings of the season so far going 7 innings deep while striking out 7 and only walking 1. Kings Platinum Arencibia 1) Chad Jenkins: Jenkins was terrible giving up 6 runs, 5 earned in 1 inning pitched. http://l2.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/QtaNpyY8.P7YwzIIYDYp2A--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3NfbGVnbztpbD1wbGFuZTtxPTc1O3c9NjAw/http://media.zenfs.com/en/person/Ysports/chad-jenkins-baseball-headshot-photo.jpg

RBI from Matt Dominguez and a home run by Junior Lake proved to be enough for Buffalo, who have now won 13 of their last 18 ballgames. Chris Leroux delivered seven shutout innings for the Herd. The veteran surrendered just five hits, only allowing runners in scoring position twice. Leroux stranded runners on first and second in the third. With two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Yandy Diaz tripled to right field. However, Leroux induced Joey Butler to fly out to right, stranding the tying run on base. Leroux retired the next 10 hitters following the Diaz triple, and moves his record to an even 3-3 on the campaign. Clippers' starter Will Roberts hurled scoreless ball for the first three innings. Darrell Ceciliani walked, stole second, and then advanced to third on a wild pitch to lead off the top of the fourth inning. A Matt Dominguez RBI single scored Ceciliani, putting the Herd up 1-0. Junior Lake led off the top of the fifth with a no-doubt home run to left field, increasing the Bisons' lead to 2-0. Dalton Pompey also picked up a pair of hits, with Casey Kotchman doubling in the second for the only other Bison hit. Roberts escaped danger in the seventh, striking out Dalton Pompey with runners on second and third. The Clippers' starter left after allowing five hits and two earned runs over seven inning of work. Roberts falls to 4-2 on the season, though he still holds a respectable 2.95 ERA in 2016. Tom Gorzelanny relieved Roberts in the top of the eighth inning, putting down the Herd in order. Josh Martin also pitched a perfect ninth for Columbus. Buffalo turned to Ryan Terpera in the eighth inning, and after a one-two-three eighth, Tepera shut down the Clippers in the ninth, recording his fourth save of the year. Though the club lost, Columbus' right fielder Collin Cowgill provided home fans with a defensive highlight in the sixth inning. Cowgill made a diving catch to rob Matt Dominguez of potential extra bases, ending the frame. In the series finale on Thursday, Drew Hutchison will square-off against Jarrett Grube. First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m. from Huntington Park. BISONS NOTES: Devon Travis was activated off the disabled and recalled to the Blue Jays on Wednesday. Travis played in four rehab games with Single-A Dunedin, before starting in five rehab games with the Bisons this week. Travis is recovering from left shoulder surgery performed last October… Switch-pitcher Pat Venditte returned to the Herd on Wednesday after being optioned by Toronto. Venditte posted a 3.86 ERA in eight games with Buffalo earlier this season… Junior Lake, who picked up his fourth home run of the season on Wednesday, now has 12 hits in his last 32 at bats. Chris Leroux has not allowed an earned run in three of his last four games, including three shutout innings in relief in a May 9 game against Durham. http://i.imgur.com/XsZImIa.png http://i.imgur.com/csKScPx.png http://i.imgur.com/WP3LWcd.png http://i.imgur.com/Q5022RN.png Rehabbing Yankees DH Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run home run to help lead the Thunder to a 6-4, series clinching, victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Wednesday night at ARM & HAMMER Park. The Thunder offense grabbed all six of their runs across the first two innings of the game against Casey Lawrence. The Thunder used three straight two-out hits from Tyler Austin, Kyle Higashioka, and Mark Payton to take a 3-0 lead. In the second, Juan Silva led off the inning with a scorched double down the right field line. After a pair of groundouts, Dustin Fowler drove in Silva with a single and Rodriguez followed with a two-run home run to dead center field to give the Thunder the 6-0 lead. Dietrich Enns improved to 4-2 with his six-inning effort on Wednesday night. He allowed just two runs, a two-run homer to Dwight Smith Jr. in the fourth, on nine hits and a pair of walks. The left-hander kept his ERA at a tidy 1.99 and added seven strikeouts in the game. New Hampshire added two in the ninth inning against Caleb Smith, in part due to an error committed by Tyler Wade with two outs. Smith recovered and got Rowdy Tellez to bounce out to Wade to end the game. Rodriguez finished his rehab assignment 3-for-6 with a home run and three RBI's. Dustin Fowler added a three-hit game for the Thunder and scored a pair of runs. Your Thunder will go for the sweep tomorrow morning against the Fisher Cats at 10:30am. RHP Eric Ruth will start for the Thunder, RHP Luis Santos will go for New Hampshire. http://i.imgur.com/C17Bv3R.png http://i.imgur.com/vMV22BI.png http://i.imgur.com/tZVAUUb.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/3/9/4/180290394/cuts/_3_action_T43A6330_g1n8ah4y_mj6avabi.jpg Jonathan Davis DUNEDIN, FL - 3B Zac Shepherd's third-inning grand slam propelled the Lakeland Flying Tigers (26-20) over the Dunedin Blue Jays (20-27) in a 12-5 win on Wednesday night. RHP Conner Greene (L, 2-3) allowed seven runs over three innings, all of which went unearned. Lakeland jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with RF Mike Gerber's RBI-double in the first. The Jays came right back in the bottom half to take the lead though against RHP Jeff Thompson (W, 3-0). Three straight singles to begin the frame for the Jays and a CF D.J. Davis double put Dunedin ahead 3-2. The five-run third inning for Lakeland was aided by a pair of Jays' errors. SS Richard Urena let one slide under his glove at short and LF Anthony Alford misplayed a ball and dropped it in left. The errors, followed by a walk, set up a bases loaded situation with Shepherd the batter. He jumped on the first pitch from Green and sent the ball out to left-center. Lakeland added five more in the following four stanzas, including a two-run shot by 1B Wade Hinkle off of RHP Conor Fisk. Dunedin put up two on the board in the eighth with the game out of reach. RF Jonathan Davis added a triple, part of a three hit night for him. The rubber match of this three game series is Thursday night at 6:30 pm. RHP Chris Rowley of Dunedin opposes RHP Endrys Briceno for Lakeland. http://i.imgur.com/WySl79t.png http://i.imgur.com/1RgT9my.png http://i.imgur.com/JvDmgvv.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/0/7/0/180168070/cuts/Borucki_6903_kcm8td3w_2qa47nk0.jpg Ryan Borucki LANSING, Mich. - Ryan Borucki fired six shutout innings, helping the Lansing Lugnuts (24-20) extend their winning streak to four games with a 5-2 matinee victory over the Fort Wayne TinCaps (23-23) on Wednesday at Cooley Law School Stadium. Borucki (Win, 1-1), MLB Pipeline's #12 prospect in the Blue Jays' organization, scattered five hits and two walks while striking out six. It was his second straight start of six innings, his career long as a professional. The Lugnuts offense, meanwhile, scored more than four runs in a game for the first time since May 15th, tallying two in the third inning against Fort Wayne starter Jacob Nix (Loss, 0-1) before adding three insurance runs in the seventh against Austin Smith. Every Lugnut batter save for center fielder Lane Thomas, collected exactly one hit, with 6-7-8 batters Gunnar Heidt, Josh Almonte and Carl Wise each scoring a run and driving in a run. Patrick Murphy (Save, 1) pitched the final three innings, striking out four, allowing three hits, two walks and two ninth-inning runs before slamming the door shut with a strikeout of Ruddy Giron. The Lugnuts look for their series sweep on a Labatt Thirsty Thursday Gone Wild: Biker Night! Enjoy $2 beers, half off craft brews and more, with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. for the 7:05 first pitch. Kings 3 Stars of the Night 1) Jonathan Davis: JD Davis mashed at the plate today going 3/4 with a double, triple and single and a stolen base. 2) Ryan Borucki: Borucki continued to mow down MWL batters after his slow start in the FSL going 6 strong innings with 6 strikeouts. 3) Conner Greene: Greene pitched well going 3 innings with 4 strikeouts, arguably his best start of the season, but was let down by his defense (ahem, Richard Urena, who made 2 errors) allowing 7 unearned runs.
