Buffalo's veteran lefty fired 6.1 innings of scoreless ball Saturday night, mixing in five strikeouts to earn his team-leading fifth win of the year in the Herd's 3-0 victory in Toledo. The 31-year-old threw 90 pitches and allowed just four hits before making way in the seventh for Bo Schultz, who came on in a leverage situation as part of his rehab assignment. The Blue Jays' reliever hit 98 miles per hour on the gun before inducing a 6-4-3 double play to end the frame. LeBlanc, now 4-0 on the road, has gone five consecutive starts without allowing an earned run -- a stretch of 33 innings. The other half of the battle between two of the International League's top-five ERA starters was performed fairly well by Thad Weber. But the Bisons got to Toledo's starter in the second inning as Jesus Montero and Darrell Ceciliani hit back-to-back singles to start the frame. Matt Dominguez then scorched a liner off of the wall in left-center field to bring home both runners, putting the Herd up 2-0. Ceciliani went on to have his first three-hit game of 2016, finishing just a homerun shy of hitting for the cycle. Weber went a full seven innings, giving up only the pair of runs while spreading out eight hits and three walks. The right-hander got himself out of a few jams, ultimately leaving eight Bisons on base. The Herd capped the scoring with a lone run in the ninth off of reliever Logan Kensing. A.J. Jimenez ripped a ground ball through the left side of the infield for a single and moved to second on a fielding error by second baseman Argenis Diaz. Andy Burns then cashed him in with an odd-looking double. Buffalo's infielder squeaked a hit just inside the bag at third that Casey McGehee gave up on, as he thought the ball was fouled off of the foot of Burns. McGehee and the Mud Hens argued the hit to no avail, and the Bisons took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth. Ryan Tepera then used a double-play and a strikeout to complete the shutout. He fired 2.0 innings of one-hit relief to earn his fifth save of the season. BISONS NOTES: Wade LeBlanc, now at 62.2 innings, reclaimed his International League lead from teammate Scott Diamond…Jesus Montero extended his hit streak to eight games and is now the lone member of the Herd to be batting above the .300 mark at .302…Every Bisons batter reached base safely Saturday evening…A.J. Jimenez stopped both Toledo attempts to steal a base off of him and has now caught 11 of 35 this year. http://i.imgur.com/nBzZ7KN.png http://i.imgur.com/Gus76j6.png http://i.imgur.com/kdhmTOO.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/6/0/0/127095600/cuts/Ian_Parmley_Game_Story_1_Rachel_Murphy_9i876hoe_q1hyppg1.jpg Ian Parmley MANCHESTER - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats made the most of their opportunities Saturday night, working a 3-1 win over the Reading Fightin Phils in front of a packed house of 7,639 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The Fisher Cats (21-26) snapped a five-game losing streak and rode timely hitting throughout the game, evening up the four-game series against the visitors. Reading (33-16) took a lead in the top of the first but couldn't hang on, succumbing to a series of miscues and small-ball plays to drop the game. The crowd of 7,639 roared with every pitch, giving New Hampshire a big home-field advantage. The Fightin Phils drew first blood against Fisher Cats starter Shane Dawson in the top of the first inning. Leadoff man Roman Quinn sliced a double to left field, and moved to third on a groundout by Jesmuel Valentin. Rhys Hoskins then hit a slow bouncer to first for an RBI groundout, scoring Quinn and giving Reading the 1-0 lead. New Hampshire equalized in the bottom of the fourth against Reading starter Nick Pivetta. Ryan Lavarnway smashed a two-out double to deep left-center field, just barely missing a homer. Rowdy Tellez then laced a ground-rule double up the right field line to plate Lavarnway and tie the game 1-1. The Fisher Cats surged into the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Ian Parmley dropped down a bunt single to lead off the frame, and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jorge Flores. With two outs, Roemon Fields ripped a liner into the right center field gap for an RBI triple. Parmley easily scored, and the Fisher Cats assumed a 2-1 lead. New Hampshire added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jon Berti got aboard on a one-out single, and advanced to second when reliever Jeremy Bleich threw the ball away on a pickoff attempt. Dwight Smith, Jr. then rocketed a single off Bleich's leg into center field, scoring Berti and extending New Hampshire's lead to 3-1. The Fisher Cats bullpen held together in the ninth to preserve the lead and the win. Dawson earned the win as he tossed six solid innings of one-run baseball, allowing one run on four hits and five walks. Colt Hynes threw 1.2 frames, surrendering just one hit to Reading batters for his first save. Murphy Smith fired 1.1 shutout innings with one hit against one strikeout for his second save. The Fisher Cats and Fightin Phils will square off again Sunday evening, with lefty John Anderson starting for New Hampshire against Reading righty Ricardo Pinto. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m., and Bob Lipman and Charlie Sherman have the call on the Fisher Cats Radio Network starting at 5:45 p.m. http://i.imgur.com/ZnYOHNj.png http://i.imgur.com/Ms7WJBR.png http://i.imgur.com/9lga2ld.png http://i.imgur.com/kWuMQsN.png http://i.imgur.com/97W5RJc.png http://i.imgur.com/sorqibS.png http://i.imgur.com/xmwfoOT.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/8/0/0/172444800/cuts/Heidt_5275_6347tvgd_iw7fiu9i.jpg Gunnar Heidt LANSING, Mich. - The South Bend Cubs (30-17) scored six runs in the fifth and eight more in the eighth, romping to a 17-3 Saturday night victory over the Lansing Lugnuts (24-23) at Four Winds Field. Lugnuts starter Jon Harris (Loss, 3-1) entered the game with a 28-inning scoreless streak. He extended it to 30 1/3 innings before Donnie Dewees's RBI single snapped the streak in the third. It was the start of a rough night for Harris, who allowed nine hits, four walks and eight runs (seven earned) in just 4 1/3 innings. Second baseman Gunnar Heidt (3-for-4) auspiciously led off the game with his team-high fourth home run of the year and added a two-out RBI double in the fifth inning, tying the score at 3-3. The latter blow came on the heels of a home run by Connor Panas, the left fielder's second longball of the year. The floodgates opened shortly thereafter. South Bend knocked Harris from the game three runs and one out into the fifth inning, and Ian Rice welcomed new reliever Josh DeGraaf with a first-pitch, three-run homer, giving the Cubs a commanding 9-3 lead. Rice finished the night with three runs scored, a walk, a double, two home runs and five runs batted in. DeGraaf held the Cubs off the board in the sixth and seventh innings before South Bend put the game away against Gustavo Pierre and Dan Lietz in the eighth. The first six batters all reached base off Pierre before a diving catch by center fielder Lane Thomas recorded the first out. Lietz entered and allowed two consecutive RBI singles, a run-scoring fielder's choice, and then committed a two-run throwing error to close the night in microcosm. South Bend notched 19 hits in all, with at least one knock recorded by each member of the lineup and three apiece for Rice, Sutton Whiting, Daniel Spingola and Andrew Ely. The Cubs also drew eight walks, three by center fielder Eddy Martinez. Cubs starter Preston Morrison (Win, 4-2) gave up three of the Lugnuts' four hits and all three runs, walking three and striking out six. Pedro Araujo, Kyle Miller and James Norwood followed with a scoreless inning each. Lugnuts left-hander Angel Perdomo (2-1, 1.73) will start the third game of the four-game series, set for 7:05 p.m. Sunday, opposed by South Bend Cubs left-hander Carson Sands (5-0, 3.38). The next Lugnuts home game is on Friday, June 3rd, a LAFCU Fireworks night against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The weekend continues with Star Wars Night on Saturday, June 4th, also featuring postgame LAFCU Fireworks. Josh DeGraaf came on in relief and gave up a 1st pitch HR so Harris final line is 4.1IP 9H 8R 7ER 4BB 1K. RIP.

The 23-year-old fanned a season-high eight Bisons as the Mud Hens cruised to an 8-0 win at Fifth Third Field on Friday. The former Bison faced the minimum through three innings and spread out four hits and a walk across six scoreless frames. The effort was enough to lower the lefty's ERA from 6.91 to 5.67. For the second consecutive start, Scott Diamond was charged with five runs and a loss. The lefty struck out two and walked a pair before exiting after a three-run Hens' half of the fifth. Following a hitless first, Diamond allowed the leadoff batter to reach base in each of the next four frames, including a homerun to Tyler Collins to start the second. Buffalo's starter gave up another run in the fourth as Casey McGehee doubled in Chad Huffman. Toledo then used five singles and a fielder's choice groundout to plate a trio of runs an inning later. The Mud Hens continued their offensive outburst against Pat McCoy in the sixth. A two-run blast from John Hicks was followed up by a double from Argenis Diaz, who later made his way home on a deep sac fly off of the bat of Wynton Bernard. The highlight of Buffalo's night came with two Hens aboard in the bottom of the fourth. David Adams backhanded a hard grounder as he stepped on the third-base bag, side-armed a throw to Andy Burns at second who rifled a throw to Matt Dominguez at first to complete a perfectly executed 5-4-3 triple play. BISONS NOTES: The fourth-inning triple play was the first turned by the Bisons since June 1 of last season against Indianapolis…Jesus Montero's single in the fourth extends his hit streak to seven games…Blue Jay Aaron Loup faced three batters as part of his rehab. The reliever punched out one and allowed one hit…Scott Diamond's start was long enough to move him ahead of teammate Wade LeBlanc and into first in the International League with 59.2 innings pitched. http://i.imgur.com/HGH0Faf.png http://i.imgur.com/n4WnS19.png http://i.imgur.com/fVH2fbo.png The Fightin Phils (33-15) and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (20-26) went 13 innings on Friday night. Reading won 9-8 as former Fisher Cat Jake Fox hit a go-ahead RBI single off Brady Dragmire (1-4) in the top of the 13th inning. Reading jumped out of the gate early by scoring four runs off Fisher Cats starter Jeremy Gabryszwski to take a 4-0 lead. Jorge Alfaro hit a RBI single that was followed by a RBI double from Dylan Cozens. Rhys Hoskins added a RBI single then Cozens scored on a ground-ball double play. The Fisher Cats tied the game at 4-4 off Mark Leiter Jr. in the bottom of the fourth inning. Leiter Jr. left the game after three innings of work. He allowed four runs off four hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Reinier Roibal entered the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. He gave up a three-run home run to Christian Lopes in the bottom of the sixth that gave New Hampshire a 7-4 lead. Roibal was ejected from the game after three innings of work. He allowed three runs off three hits with three strikeouts. Tom Windle pitched two scoreless innings in relief as he gave up one hit with two walks and one strikeout. Aaron Brown hit his first AA home run of the season in the top of the ninth inning off Fisher Cats reliever Will Browning. A three-run home run by Brown tied the game at 7-7. Gregory Infante (2-1) tossed three scoreless innings in relief for the win. Miguel Nunez faced four batters and recorded one out before leaving the game for Hoby Milner (3-0) in the bottom of the 12th. The Fisher Cats tied it at 8-8 as Roemon Fields hit a RBI single to score Ian Parmley. The Fightin Phils and Fisher Cats will meet again on Saturday night. First pitch is at 6:05 pm from Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Fans can listen to the game on Sports Radio AM 1240/FM 98.5 and fightins.com at 5:35 pm. http://i.imgur.com/10O8sen.png http://i.imgur.com/jA1gjDQ.png http://i.imgur.com/MryDPJk.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/8/5/2/180637852/cuts/_27_Rios_T43A7976_ft48xa2o_6csgtejh.jpg Francisco Rios DUNEDIN, FL - RHP Francisco Rios (W, 2-2) twirled his first career shutout while the Dunedin Blue Jays' (22-27) offense churned out a season high 13 runs on a season high 16 hits to beat the Daytona Tortugas (21-28) on Friday night. Rios scattered seven hits and a walk fanning three throughout the ballgame, facing no more than four batters in any of the nine innings he pitched. While Rios was dealing, the offense brought their A-game to the park, starting with five runs out of the gate in the first inning. The Jays' put up five more in the sixth, one in the seventh and two in the eighth to get to 13. The first big hit of the game came from RF Derrick Loveless, extending his hit streak to ten games. With a run already in and the bases juiced, Loveless took a LHP Seth Varner (L, 3-3) fastball to straight away center over the head of CF Jonathan Reynoso, a triple scoring all three baserunners. Dunedin scored multiple runs in the first inning for the third straight game. They got to Varner early, but the lefty starter for Daytona did not allow another run through his five innings, despite giving up two hits in the second and third innings. The sixth inning brought LHP Greg Williams to the mound for the Tortugas. Williams had only allowed three hits without a run in ten inning all season entering the game, but could not get out of the inning, surrendering five runs on four extra-base hits. The final blow was 1B Ryan McBroom's two-run home run to left field, his eighth of the year. Loveless fell a home run shy of the cycle while McBroom collected three hits on the night as well. 3B Emilio Guerrero also aided with a pair of doubles. CF Anthony Alford extended his hit streak to 11 games while DH L.B. Dantzler pushed his to nine. These two teams play one more game in Dunedin before heading over to Daytona for four more. RHP Kyle Westwood duels RHP Tejay Antone with first pitch at 6:30. http://i.imgur.com/rILbjP6.png http://i.imgur.com/3r4KjHK.png http://i.imgur.com/zDHl7RI.png http://i.imgur.com/9mNOTer.png http://www.milb.com/assets/images/6/6/6/177240666/cuts/Hissey_1843_sa7jtqob_843mrqvj.jpg Ryan Hissey SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Tyler Alamo broke a seventh-inning tie with a two-out, two-run double to lift the South Bend Cubs (29-17) to a 4-2 win over the Lansing Lugnuts (24-22) on Friday night at Four Winds Field. With the score tied at 2-2 entering the bottom of the seventh, Lansing reliever Ryan Cook (Loss, 1-5) issued a leadoff walk to Donnie Dewees and a one-out walk to Ian Rice. Cook recovered to strike out top prospect Eloy Jimenez, but Alamo followed with a decisive liner into the left field corner. Alamo finished the game 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs batted in, the first delivered on an RBI single in a two-run first inning against Lansing starter Tayler Saucedo. Saucedo settled in to pitch five innings without any further damage, allowing seven hits and two walks and striking out one. Meanwhile, his teammates fought back to tie the game against South Bend starter Ryan Kellogg, halving the deficit on a J.C. Cardenas RBI double in the second before leveling the score on a Ryan Hissey home run in the sixth. It was the catcher's second home run of the season. Kellogg struck out eight Lugnuts in six innings, handing the ball to Casey Bloomquist (Win, 3-1) for three perfect innings out of the pen to finish the game. Sizzling Lugs right-hander Jon Harris (3-0, 0.83) receives the start for the second game of the four-game series, putting his 28-inning scoreless streak on the line against the Midwest League's best offense. South Bend counters with right-hander Preston Morrison (3-2, 3.96). The next Lugnuts home game is on Friday, June 3rd, a LAFCU Fireworks night against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The weekend continues with Star Wars Night on Saturday, June 4th, also featuring postgame LAFCU Fireworks. To purchase tickets or for more information, stop by the Cooley Law School Stadium box office, call (517) 485-4500 or visit lansinglugnuts.com. Kings 3 Stars of the Night 1) Emilio Guerrero: The lanky infielder went 3/4 with 2 doubles to help Dunedin win 13-1. 2) Ryan McBroom: McBroom went 3/5 with a double and a home run, also to help Dunedin win 13-1. 3) Francisco Rios: Rios pitched a complete game, albeit with just 3 strikeouts, on 91 pitches, also to help Dunedin win 13-1. Honorable Mention to everyone else in Dunedins lineup except Michael De La Cruz, and to the Buffalo Bison for turning a triple play. Kings Platinum Arencibia 1) Matt Dean: Dean had a legitimate Platinum Arencibia going 0/7 with 5 strikeouts. I kind of feel bad.
