The four miscues by the Red Wings led to four unearned runs for Buffalo while the Bisons fielders made no mistakes behind a 15-strikeout performance by their pitching staff. The first two errors of the game were made on consecutive plays in the second inning by Rochester's Niko Goodrum. The second baseman dropped a potential doubleplay ball off the bat of the recently-activated Shane Opitz, allowing the Bisons to load the bases with only one out. Goodrum then charged and booted a chopper from Chris Coghlan to give Buffalo the game's first run. Buffalo doubled their lead from 2-0 to a four-run advantage in the sixth thanks to another Red Wings' error. Third baseman Leonardo Reginatto dropped Luke Maile's grounder with one out in the frame. After the Bisons loaded the bases on hits from Chrstian Lopes and Ian Parmley, Opitz lined a single into center for his first two RBI on the season. Stake to a four-run lead, five Bisons relievers combined to strike out a season-best 15 batters. Back from his big league debut with the Blue Jays, Casey Lawrence fanned four in three innings while Mike Bolsinger struck out the side in the fourth. Matt Dermody got the win on Wednesday by striking out all five batters he faced and Leonel Campos got the final six outs, three via punchouts, to earn his first save of the season. Rochester did pull to within 4-2 late in the contest before Maile drove in his first run with the team thanks to a two-out single in the seventh inning. The Bisons will look for the series win over Rochester with Thursday's homestand finale, a 1:05 p.m. first pitch. BISONS NOTES: With the victory, the Bisons re-take sole possession of first place in the International League North Division with a 5-1 record…Before the game, the Bisons placed outfielder Darrell Ceciliani and reliever Chris Smith on the disabled list. Those moves made roster space for Lawrence and Opitz…Along with their 15 strikeouts, Bisons pitchers walked just two batters. http://i.imgur.com/NIEa8BG.png http://i.imgur.com/ogWa1Yd.png http://i.imgur.com/waDjI1L.png Gunnar Heidt drilled a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the New Hampshire Fisher Cats past the Reading Fightin Phils 5-3 on Wednesday at Northeast Delta Stadium. Three New Hampshire relievers combined to shut down Reading over the final 7.1 innings with Tim Mayza (1-0) earning the win and Jose Fernandez picking up his first save. Alonzo Gonzalez added 3.1 scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts for New Hampshire (2-4). Reading (2-4) scored its three runs in the top of the second inning. After walks to Jiandido Tromp and Malquin Canelo, Scott Kingery homered off New Hampshire starter Sean Reid-Foley for a 3-0 lead. The Fisher Cats cut the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning on the second homer of the season by catcher Raffy Lopez. In the decisive sixth inning, Ryan McBroom and Emilio Guerrero singled off Reading starter Tom Eshelman and Heidt homered off reliever Alexis Rivero (0-1) to give the Fisher Cats the win in the final game of the first homestand of the season. Heidt's home run was his second of the series. He finished Wednesday afternoon with a single, double and homer with the three RBI. New Hampshire tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Guerrero singled, moved to third on a fielders choice and error, scoring on a groundout by Lopez. The Fisher Cats head out on the road for the first time in 2017 and will play at Hartford on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. The team returns to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Friday, April 21 also to play Hartford. An Atlas Fireworks show will follow that contest. (April 12, 2017) - The Florida Fire Frogs could not complete the sweep in the finale of the three-game series against the Dunedin Blue Jays, as the home team fell, 11-5, at Osceola County Stadium on Wednesday night. Florida finished its opening homestand with four wins, and averaged 4.1 runs-per-game over the seven-game stretch. The Fire Frogs plated a run in the first for the third consecutive game. Ronald Acuna (0x5, R, SB) reached on an error by the shortstop J.C. Cardenas to put a man on first. The speedster swiped second for his fifth stolen base of the year with Austin Riley (2x5, R, HR, 3 RBI) the plate, and advanced to second on a groundout by the young slugger. Alex Jackson (1x5, RBI) followed with an RBI knock to center, scoring Acuna and stretching his hitting streak to six games. The lead would not last long, as Dunedin (3-4) struck for five runs against Tyler Pike in the top half of the third. Pike (0-1) walked Derrick Loveless and struck out Matt Dean to start the frame, but back-to-back free passes to Lane Thomas and J.C. Cardenas loaded the bases for D.J. Davis. The left-hander stroked a double to left, scoring Loveless and Thomas to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead. Andrew Guillote flew out to left for the second out, and Cavan Biggio lined a two-run single to right to stretch the deficit to 4-1. With Juan Kelly at the dish, Biggio stole second, and scored on Kelly's single to left to make it 5-1. The Blue Jays tallied two more runs in the eighth, and four more in the ninth to blow the game open to 11-1. Florida (4-3) answered the four-spot with one of its own in the final half inning. Riley cracked a three-run blast over the 390 marker to capitalize the four-run inning. The 20-year-old knocked in eight runs over the first seven games of the season. http://i.imgur.com/0GAceJ3.png http://i.imgur.com/Fn0QkHa.png http://i.imgur.com/waEDZHe.png http://i.imgur.com/0QE8VW7.png BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Andy Ravel and Tayler Saucedo combined on a three-hit shutout, helping the Lansing Lugnuts (5-2) split a doubleheader with the Bowling Green Hot Rods (4-3), winning 4-0 before falling 5-3 on Wednesday at Bowling Green Ballpark. The brief three-game road trip ends with the Lugnuts atop the Eastern Division and tied with the Kane County Cougars for the best record in the Midwest League. In Game 1, Ravel (Win, 1-0) impressed in his MWL debut. The right-hander, drafted in the 7th round by the Blue Jays in 2016, struck out four batters in five innings, allowing only three hits. On each occasion the Hot Rods base runner was thrown out, with Eleardo Cabrera caught stealing in the second inning, Lucius Fox picked off first base in the third, and Cabrera tagged out attempting to move up on a ball in the dirt in the fifth. Saucedo followed with two dominant innings, striking out five of six batters faced, to lock down the Lugnuts' second shutout of the year. The offense was supplied in part by Bo Bichette, delivering an RBI double in the first inning against Bowling Green starter Kenny Rosenberg (Loss, 1-1), and adding a run-scoring walk amid a three-run fifth inning. In the losing cause, Rosenberg struck out seven straight Lugnuts at one point and finished with eight strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. http://i.imgur.com/j6UE5Fb.png http://i.imgur.com/DUHZxJJ.png http://i.imgur.com/r7l9xXf.png http://i.imgur.com/P8OYYcv.png In Game 2, Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., homered off the Bowling Green Ballpark scoreboard as the Lugnuts came back from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits - only to see Lucius Fox break a 3-3 tie with a two-out RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. Miles Mastrobuoni followed with an RBI single for insurance. Starter Justin Maese (Loss, 1-1) pitched all six innings in defeat, allowing nine hits and five runs (four earned), with one walk and two strikeouts. 6-foot-7 Bowling Green starter J.D. Busfield (Win, 1-0) countered with six innings of eight-hit, three-run baseball, walking none and striking out seven. Two of the Lugnuts' runs were unearned due to errors committed by Fox. Both Guerrero, who notched his second home run, and J.B. Woodman went 2-for-3 in the loss, with Bichette and Christian Williams adding RBIs. The Lugnuts now return home, opening up a three-game series with Lake County on a Labatt Thirsty Thursday featuring $2 beers/sodas and half-off craft beers. First pitch is 7:05 p.m., pitting Nuts right-hander Patrick Murphy, the Blue Jays' No. 17 prospect, against Captains right-hander Brady Aiken, the Indians' No. 5 prospect. 3. With some female distractions at his side.
  4. I can confirm GD is a very large human.
  5. I know his contact issues were known pre-draft but we were talking about stat scouting (in which case, you could have identified there was a contact issue by his CapeCod stats). I agree with you that his contact issues will likely prevent him from ever becoming anything more than a prospect that could reach the upper levels of the minors.
  6. Stat scouting his college stats would show you that he struckout at a 17% rate in his draft year with big time power (.254 ISO). You'd be looking for your area scouts to identify that he has a massive hole in his swing or that contact issues would pop in pro ball. I don't love Woodman, but I'm not jumping off the ledge at his slow start. He had a 215 wRC+ in Lansing in double the amount of PAs he has this year at the end of last season.
