Poor AB's, base running blunders, errors... Yes I know he's the "2nd coming of Alomar", but since his D is already so overhyped, he can only go down from where he's at right now. He'll be good in the field, but not the greatest ever like many think.
I'd sign him to a minor league deal. No worse than Happ, and I'd give him a shot over Blanton. Put Hanson on the Delabar program. Maybe it works for him.
Guy had huge potential when we had that monster rotation of Doc, Burnett, Marcum, McGowan, Litsch... One's now retired, one year from retiring, garbage, barely making a rotation, and complete trash.
On top of lying about the severity of injuries... Not a good mix for a team trying to gain trust from a fanbase dying for playoff baseball. This is why the next rebuild needs to be a complete house cleaning.
The good:
-Kratz hits well enough to take over the full time catcher role.
-Hutch solidifies his spot in this rotation for years to come.
-Lawrie has a break out year. (20+ HR's, .340 OBP)
-Rasmus has BIG walk year.
The bad:
-EE still has a good year, but declines a bit.
-Bautista hits DL again.
-Bullpen struggles a bit. Won't be a top tier pen like people thought.
-Gibbons butts heads with a player. Think a Hillenbrand part II.
83-79 season
I'd do it. We keep our 2 best arms in the farm, Nay/Tirado are just so far away and likely turn out to be nothing, and I still think Gose is a bust because I just don't see him hitting at an acceptable rate. Shark would look nice in this rotation right now too (preferably with an extension).
If they post ERAs like that, we make the postseason. I think these are optimistic projections on Buehrle, Morrow, and the rest. Hutch I can see totally surprising everyone, so that's believable, but I'd sign up for these because they are very solid.
