Buffalo Bisons Buffalo (8), Rochester (9) - 9/11 Box Score Buffalo and Rochester went back and forth all night on Thursday in a tough close matchup. Buffalo would take the early lead on a three-run home run in the top of the second inning by Michael Stefanic. In the bottom half of the inning, Rochester would answer with two RBI singles to bring the lead down to one for Buffalo. The next inning though, Rochester would tie it up with an RBI groundout. Anthony Santander in his first rehab game squared up a pitch over the plate for a home run to right field, putting Buffalo up one in the fifth inning. Again in the bottom of the inning, the Red Wings would strike with two more runs, this time from an RBI triple by J.T. Arruda and an RBI single from Nick Schnell. René Pinto tied the game in the seventh on a fielder's choice and then gave Buffalo the lead in the ninth on an RBI single. Jonatan Clase would score Stefanic with a single to give the Bisons a two-run lead. Just like the whole game though, Rochester wasn't done and went right to work in the bottom of the ninth. Two singles led off the inning and after two outs, José Tena came to bat. He launched a ball deepening the night over the center field fence for a walk-off three run home run. Buffalo lost a heartbreaker 9-8. Michael Stefanic- 2-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 HR Adam Macko- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K Buffalo (4), Rochester (3) - 9/12 Box Score The Friday night matchup between Buffalo and Rochester was another close battle, but this time it was hits that were tough to come by. Alek Manoah started for Buffalo and had maybe his best game this season. He pitched 5 1/3 innings, only gave up three runs, four hits, and struck out eight batters. His command was at its best it has been in Triple-A and he only walked one hitter. It was still a little concerning that his fastball velocity was struggling to get to 90 mph at times. Overall though, it was a great outing for him. A Francisco Mejía home run to right field in the third inning was the first run of the game for Rochester. Leo Jiménez's sacrifice fly a half inning later tied the game for Buffalo. A groundout in the sixth would score two more for Rochester, aided by a throwing error. In the seventh, Buffalo took the lead back when Michael Stefanic hit an RBI single and Jonatan Clase drove in two with a double. Buffalo won this game 4-3. Jonatan Clase- 1-3, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 2B, 1 SB Alek Manoah- 5.1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 8 K New Hampshire Fisher Cats New Hampshire (6), Chesapeake (4) - 9/11 Box Score With another game against Chesapeake on Thursday, New Hampshire looked to start an extended winning streak to counterbalance the long losing streak they just came out of. They had the next high rising prospect, Gage Stanifer, on the mound. Chesapeake sent a formidable Luis De León to match up against Stanifer. The Baysox jumped out to an early lead, with a lead-off home run from Austin Overn. Stanifer started to get shaky with his command from there, walking three of the next four batters, but getting a double play ball in between them. Unfortunately for New Hampshire, Stanifer could not escape the jam without giving up another run, he gave up an RBI single to Max Wagner. In the bottom half of the first, Charles McAdoo tried hard to get at least one run back, he led-off with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch, stole third, then scored on Damiano Palmegiani's double. Cade Doughty and Eddinson Paulino couldn't cash in Palmegiani and the first inning ended with New Hampshire down one run. Stanifer settled in during the second inning, getting three ground ball outs,then a couple more in the third. In the fourth, he added two more ground balls for outs, before being replaced to begin the fifth inning. Chesapeake would add to their lead then with a sacrifice fly by Ethan Anderson, scoring Overn. Jace Bohrofen got that run back in the bottom of the fifth with a base knock to right field, scoring Nicolas Deschamps. New Hampshire finally locked in for the bottom of the seventh, Je'Von Ward had a two-RBI single, Paulino scratched one run across home plate with his single, and Cade Doughty scored on a balk. Kai Peterson came on for the ninth to close the game out and secure the win, but he got into some trouble. He surrendered a sacrifice fly to Anderson, then hit the next batter, before turning it over to Nate Garkow to get out of a sticky situation. Garkow stepped up and closed it out, getting Griff O'Ferrall to strike out to end the game. New Hampshire won their third game in a row, this one 6-4. Charles McAdoo: 2-4, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 2B, 2 SB Gage Stanifer: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 4 K New Hampshire (5), Chesapeake (2) - 9/12 Box Score Riding a three game win streak, New Hampshire had Alex Amalfi on the mound Friday night and was looking to extend the streak even more. The Fisher Cats jumped out early in this one, getting two runs in the first inning thanks to an error on the catcher, allowing both Damiano Palmegiani and Je'Von Ward to score on a dropped third strike. Cade Doughty then followed it up with a two-run home run and New Hampshire had a comfortable 4-0 lead. Amalfi took over from there, he went six innings, only allowing an RBI single in the fifth, and struck out four. The bullpen would take over and only surrendered one unearned run, while New Hampshire got an RBI single from Peyton Williams in the eighth. The Fisher Cats rolled to a 5-2 win and moved their win streak to four. The minor league seasons have wrapped up for Single A and High A, and the August update of Jays Centre's prospect rankings is finished, so it's a great time to take a look at the new additions to the Top 20. It has been a wild ride for the Toronto Blue Jays this year, and some of these names could make a big impact in future seasons. 10. Juan Sanchez, SS, 17, DSL Blue Jays The biggest riser on the rankings from August might be the most impactful down the line for the Toronto Blue Jays. Juan Sanchez was signed by the Blue Jays this past January out of the Dominican Republic, and he just put up one of the most impressive stat lines ever for a DSL Blue Jays player. 56 G .341/.439/.565 1.004 OPS 8 HR 4 3B 16 2B 10% BB% 17.7% K% 156 wRC+ Sanchez has a very good base and a great projectable frame, as he is already listed at 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds. He has quick hands and big raw power that have already been showing up in games. His eight home runs in the DSL really stand out. Expect him to come stateside next year, and depending on how he looks in the spring, he could see a bump all the way to Single A at some point. He has some of the highest potential as a hitter in the Toronto Blue Jays system, and only striking out 17.7% of the time as a 17-year-old could be a big key to Sanchez rising fast through the minor leagues. Tim Piasentin, 3B, 18, FCL Blue Jays Here's another young prospect making his debut on the ranking this go around, and he is a teenager as well: Tim Piasentin. Piasentin was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the fifth round of this summer's MLB draft, 143rd overall. He is another prospect with a great frame and huge power potential, and he could have a good hit tool. He is listed already at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds. He uses very quick hands and his powerful build to explode through the baseball from the left side of the plate. He already looks like he can lift the ball well and has reportedly reached up to 110 mph in max. exit velocity (Baseball America). Out of all of the Blue Jays' draft picks from 2025, expect Piasentin to potentially have the highest ceiling. This is a legit high-impact bat at third base. Look for Piasentin to begin next year in the FCL or potentially at Single-A Dunedin. The Blue Jays signed him for an overslot amount, so he should be one of the players who receives an aggressive assignment depending on how his offseason and spring training go. Find Piasentin on our Top 20 Prospects list: 20. Blaine Bullard, OF, 19, FCL Blue Jays Blaine Bullard is another Toronto Blue Jays draft pick from this past July. He was taken in the 12th round, 352nd overall. The Blue Jays thought very highly of him and gave the 6-foot-2, 180-pound outfielder the largest signing bonus ever for a 12th-round draft pick: $1.697 million. Bullard has more tools than anyone from this year's Blue Jays draft class, as he can do it all. He has some decent power potential from both sides of the plate as a switch-hitter, is very contact-oriented (a Blue Jays focus), has some top-end speed, and likely will be an above-average outfielder. This could be the future leadoff hitter for the Blue Jays if everything works out as he moves up the minor league ladder. Expect Bullard to start 2026 in the FCL or potentially at Single-A Dunedin. His development could be key for a rising Blue Jays farm system because he might be the outfield prospect the system has been lacking for a while now: a five-tool uber prospect that succeeds up to the major leagues. Buffalo Bisons Buffalo (0), Syracuse (10) - 9/6 Box Score Buffalo had a rough go of it Saturday versus Syracuse. Alek Manoah was on the mound for the Bisons, and it was a bit of a mixed bag. He showed much improved command of his pitches at times and only walked one batter. On the flip side, he surrendered six hits in 5.2 innings pitched and was charged with two earned runs. The defense was not up to par behind Manoah, as Buffalo committed two errors that would lead to five unearned runs against Manoah as well. José Azócar homered in the second inning for the Mets, and Jose Siri launched a long ball in a six-run fourth inning. Ryan Clifford hit a three-run home run in the seventh to give the Mets a 10-run lead. Buffalo lost this one badly, 10-0. Joey Loperfido - 2-4, 0 R, 0 RBI, 0 BB, 1 K Alek Manoah - 5.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K Buffalo (10), Syracuse (6) - 9/7 Box Score Buffalo finally got things going in the last game of the week against the Syracuse Mets. José Azócar put the Mets on the scoreboard to begin the game, via an RBI single in the top of the first inning. After that, Buffalo rattled off 10 runs over the first five innings, and the Mets only added two more on their own. Joey Loperfido crushed his seventh home run for Buffalo in the first inning, a solo shot. In the second inning, Josh Rivera knocked in a run with an RBI single, then Yohendrick Pinango did the same in the third inning. Brandon Valenzuela had the huge hit later in the inning with the bases loaded. He launched a 100-mph home run to left field for a grand slam. RJ Schreck and Buddy Kennedy hit RBI singles to push Buffalo up to 10 runs, Schreck's in the fourth inning and Kennedy's in the fifth inning. Buffalo would go on to win this game from there, 10-6. Brandon Valenzuela - 1-4, 1 R, 4 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 HR Andrew Bash - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K New Hampshire Fisher Cats New Hampshire (2), Somerset (3) - 9/6 Box Score New Hampshire started the weekend set of games with an 11-game losing streak, having lost 13 of their last 15 games. Somerset had Brock Selvidge on the mound, facing off against New Hampshire's Alex Amalfi. The Fisher Cats opened the game with a very promising scoring opportunity, loading the bases up with just one out in the inning. Unfortunately for New Hampshire, Peyton Williams struck out, and Cade Doughty followed it up with a groundout, ending the inning with all three runners stranded on the bases. In the bottom half of the first, Dylan Jasso singled home Jace Avina, putting Somerset in the driver's seat once again. The Fisher Cats finally broke through in the top of the sixth inning, getting an RBI single from Williams and a sacrifice fly from Gabriel Martinez. New Hampshire's bullpen stood strong and held the Somerset bats in check all the way through the eighth inning, setting up some really high leverage work for Pat Gallagher in his second inning to close out the game. He surrendered a single and a walk to open up the bottom of the ninth, which was followed quickly by an RBI single from Garrett Martin. With the game tied, New Hampshire's luck engulfed the stadium, as Jake Gatewood smacked a line drive to right and the game-winning walk-off run came around to score. It was a tough loss to say the least, with the losing streak reaching 12 games. Charles McAdoo: 3-5, 2 SB Alex Amalfi: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 K New Hampshire (4), Somerset (9) - 9/7 Box Score Well, Sunday wrapped up the series against Somerset, but it brought with it a second matchup against the budding ace Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz. He shut down any thought New Hampshire had of snapping the losing streak, which had to be demoralizing. Rodriguez-Cruz went five very strong shutout innings, giving up just two hits. He only walked one and struck out eight. Meanwhile, Somerset pounced on Fernando Cruz in the bottom of the first inning. George Lombard Jr. and Tyler Hardman had RBI doubles, Jackson Castillo had an RBI single, and Manuel Palencia knocked in two with his single. They added a run in the second on a double play ball, one in the third on a wild pitch, and another in the fourth on Hardman's solo home run. In the sixth, New Hampshire finally started to put up a fight, getting one run on Je'Von Ward's single before Eddinson Paulino launched a three-run home run. Palencia added a run to Somerset's lead in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single. That is where the game stood when Damiano Palmegiani flew out to right in the bottom of the ninth and Raimundo De Los Santos was doubled up trying to tag and get to second base. New Hampshire lost again, stretching the losing streak to 13 with the 9-4 loss. Eddinson Paulino: 2-3, 1 R, 3 RBI, 1 HR Yondrei Rojas: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K Vancouver Canadians Vancouver (6), Everett (1) - 9/6 Box Score It was utter dominance from the pitching in Vancouver, as Austin Cates excelled yet again. The offense also excelled, with the Canadians scoring early on an Arjun Nimmala single. Then, they doubled their lead with a Carter Cunningham double to score Nimmala. Edward Duran reached on an error, which allowed Cunningham to score, as the Canadians jumped out 3-0. Cunningham once again came up in the fourth, and this time with Nimmala and Sean Keys on the bases, he uncorked a three-run homer to cap off the scoring. Juanmi Vasquez was excellent in relief, getting his second save of the season. He pitched three innings, not allowing a hit, only allowing two walks, and striking out six. Carter Cunningham - 3-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, 1 2B, 1 HR Cunningham has had a really strong finish to the season, raising his OPS to .768 and becoming a well-above-average hitter according to wRC+. Austin Cates - 6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 9 K Cates had another spectacular start in Vancouver, lowering his High-A ERA to under 2.00. The 2024 seventh-rounder has been one of the best pitchers, if not the best pitcher, in the Jays' farm system since the All-Star break. Vancouver (1), Everett (2) - 9/7 Box Score Some shaky defense, as well as a disappearing act from the offense, cost the Canadians the season finale. Chris McElvain was on the bump, and after a throwing error from Duran moved Charlie Pagliarini to third on a stolen base attempt, Peyton Powell committed an error at first to allow him to score. McElvain was able to get the next two out, but a Carson Jones single scored Luis Suisbel, who reached on the Powell error. The Canadians' offense could not get much going, with the only run coming on the board being a balk with the bases loaded in the eighth. The bullpen did a great job, pitching five straight innings of scoreless baseball, combining for nine strikeouts between them, but they lost a tight one to end the season. Alexis Hernandez - 2-3, 1 BB, 1 2B Chris McElvain - 4 IP, 2 H, 2 R (0 ER), 3 BB, 5 K Dunedin Blue Jays Dunedin (6), Bradenton (7) - 9/6 Box Score The last game of the season for the D-Jays was very entertaining. The Jays got out to an early lead, with Jaxson West hitting his second double as a pro to score Brock Tibbitts. Jean Joseph hit a single that led to Yeuni Munoz scoring after a throwing error from the pitcher Clevari Tejada. Then Eric Snow grounded into a double play, but Tibbitts was able to score again. Daniel Guerra let up his only run he allowed in the game on a solo shot to Adonys Guzman. Once Guerra was taken out, the floodgates opened, as Lluveres Severino allowed a ton of contact, with six hits given up in the fifth inning, resulting in a five-run inning for the Marauders. Jack Eshleman replaced him and kept the game close for the Jays to get three more runs off a passed ball from the catcher Guzman, and then Jake Casey hit a big double to tie the game up in the seventh. Carson Myers came in the eighth inning after Eshleman was taken out, and allowed a run after a few walks, as he gave up a sac fly to Ethan Lege, which ended up being the difference maker. The pitching for both sides was on point this game. Hunter Barco was great for three innings for Indianapolis, and Elieser Hernandez went a strong six innings for Buffalo. Hernandez only gave up one run and two hits while striking out three batters. Buffalo got their lone run of the game in the top of the first inning, when Yohendrick Pinango drove in a run with an RBI single. In the fifth inning, Jase Bowen tripled for Indianapolis to score two runs, aided by an error on RJ Schreck. Buffalo could barely muster any hits on the day, only managing three of them. Buffalo lost the game 2-1. Yohendrick Pinango - 1-3, 0 R, 1 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 2B Elieser Hernandez - 6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K Buffalo (6), Indianapolis (2) - 8/31 Box Score Alek Manoah got the start again for Buffalo, and he was much better at times in this game versus Indianapolis. He would go six innings and notch a quality start, only giving up two earned runs, five hits, four walks, and striking out three batters. Despite giving up some baserunners, he was able to get outs when needed. The only runs Manoah would give up were from a two-run home run to Sammy Siani in the second inning. Schreck answered right back in the third inning with a home run of his own, a solo shot to right field. In the sixth inning, Buffalo got things rolling with a bases-loaded walk, an RBI forceout, a sacrifice fly, a Michael Stefanic RBI single, and then a true oddity scored a fifth run: Orelvis Martinez stole home. Yes, that is right. It was a part of a double steal, but he did indeed steal a base, and it was home. Buffalo would use that momentum to finish off the game and win 6-2. Saturday would not bring any relief to the slide the Fisher Cats were in, as they committed three errors, struggled with pitching, and were not with it at the plate. In the top of the second inning, Erie jumped out first, getting an RBI double from Ben Malgeri. In the bottom half of the inning, Je'Von Ward started things off for New Hampshire with a five-pitch walk. A couple of batters later, Eddinson Paulino hit his 11th home run of the season, giving the Fisher Cats a one-run lead. In the fourth, Malgeri proved to be a thorn in New Hampshire's side, hitting a big two-run home run over the right field fence. Later in the inning, Erie's prize prospect, Kevin McGonigle, smacked a ball to center for a bases-clearing single and gave the SeaWolves a four-run lead. Jake Holton's RBI single in the ninth scored Josue Briceño and capped off the scoring for the game, as New Hampshire fell 7-2 while amassing 14 strikeouts. Just as in Saturday's game, Erie was first on the scoreboard. McGonigle launched a first-inning home run to right field, scoring John Peck and giving Erie a quick 2-0 lead. Ward answered back for New Hampshire in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single, but was thrown out trying to make it to second base, ending the inning. In the bottom of the third, Jackson Hornung tied the game up at two, with a big home run himself, his sixth at Double A. In the bottom of the ninth, New Hampshire would load up the bases with one out, but Nicolas Deschamps flew out and Ryan McCarty struck out looking to end the game. The Hops' pitching was also excellent to start, as for the first six innings for both teams, neither allowed a run to score. However, after Nick Goodwin reached on a single, then moved to second on a wild pitch, Edward Duran hit an RBI single to break the tie. Ricardo Yan replaced Lorenzo Encarnacion for the Hops and walked the bases loaded before walking in Sean Keys for another run. Javen Coleman got another hold, and JJ Sanchez earned his third save for a low-scoring affair that ended in a win for the Canadians. Nick Goodwin - 2-4, 1 R Gage Stanifer - 5 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 K Stanifer had another excellent start in Vancouver, and he's now following his former Dunedin starting teammates Trey Yesavage and former Jays prospect Khal Stephen to Double-A New Hampshire. The progression of those three pitchers has been one of the biggest stories for the Jays' minor league system this year, and they are not slowing down at all. Vancouver (11), Hillsboro (1) - 8/31 Box Score The Canadians' offense exploded in this game, and the pitching was also dominant, with Austin Cates having one of the best starts for a Jays prospect. Arjun Nimmala got the scoring going with a single to right field, but was thrown out at second. He played the bottom of the inning, making a throw from short to first, but was taken out of the game for Jay Harry in the bottom of the second. The Canadians were still able to get the ball rolling after that, as Keys hit a double and Duran walked before Carter Cunningham unloaded for a three-run homer to break the game open. A couple of walks in the top of the fifth inning led to a Duran RBI single, and then Cunningham got two more RBIs with a single of his own after Duran stole second. Cunningham was caught stealing to stop momentum for a little bit, but the Canadians were still up 7-0. The Canadians scored another two runs in the top of the sixth on an Eddie Micheletti Jr. RBI groundout, and then Harry joined the fun with an RBI single himself. In the top of the ninth, Cutter Coffey had another RBI single for Vancouver, this time driving in two runs for a total of 11 for the Canadians. Carter Cunningham - 2-5, 1 R, 5 RBI, 1 HR Cunningham hit homer number 15 and also had a five-RBI day. The 24-year-old first baseman and outfielder has had a solid season offensively, showing more power compared to his short stint in Single A last season. Austin Cates - 6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K Cates had arguably his best start of the season. He’s been excellent in Vancouver and should be a name to watch on breakout pitching prospect lists for next season. The fastball has been unhittable for High-A hitters so far, and he pairs his secondaries well off of it. Dunedin Blue Jays Dunedin (6), Fort Myers (0) - 8/30 Box Score Daniel Guerra had one of the most impressive starting pitching performances in a long while in the Jays' farm system, and the offense gave him enough support for a near-perfect outing. Jace Bohrofen got it going with a single to score Dariel Ramon, and David Beckles hit an RBI single to score Manuel Beltre in the sixth inning. Bohrofen extended the lead with a solo homer in the seventh, and in the eighth, the D-Jays tacked on three more. Beltre, who was recently moved to the outfield, got a sac fly, Ramon hit his second double of the night to score Beckles, and then Maddox Latta continued his hot start with Dunedin with an RBI single himself. The bullpen pitched almost perfectly as well. Although they gave up two hits, they combined for eight strikeouts in three innings pitched, with Danny Thompson Jr. contributing six of them and earning the hold. Jace Bohrofen - 2-5, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 HR Bohrofen has been playing very well on his rehab assignment, showcasing why he made it to the upper minors in the first place. He should rejoin New Hampshire shortly. Daniel Guerra - 6 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 K Guerra was near perfect through six innings. The big righty relied heavily on his four-seam fastball, and the Mighty Mussels could not touch it. His dominant performance led to him being named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week. New Hampshire got on the scoreboard first with a big solo home run off the bat of Je'Von Ward in the top of the second inning. In the sixth, both teams had huge innings. New Hampshire was first, scoring four in the top half of the inning. Charles McAdoo provided the timely hit, a big three-run blast to left, scoring Jacob Sharp and Victor Arias. Four batters later, Cade Doughty added an RBI double that scored Ward from second. In the bottom of the sixth, it was Akron's turn. In the fifth, they added two more runs, one from an RBI single by Ralphy Velazquez and another on a wild pitch. Things stood at the status quo until the top of the eighth, when New Hampshire finally got on the scoreboard. Two walks and an error loaded the bases for the Fisher Cats, then Ward took ball four and the walk, bringing in Dasan Brown. Jackson Wentworth struggled to get it going himself, allowing a run in the first and then three more in the third inning. However, the Canadians did not roll over and die, but instead fought back. Nick Goodwin hit an RBI double in the bottom of the third to get on the board, and Alexis Hernandez hit a huge homer to bring the scores within one after a Carter Cunningham triple. They threatened again in the eighth when JR Freethy got hit by a pitch, but he was stranded on first. In the ninth, Javen Coleman pitched a clean inning to keep the score close, and in the bottom of that inning, Hernandez took a walk, and Sean Keys ended the game with a two-run blast to walk it off. Cunningham gave Stanifer the lead with a two-run shot that scored Arjun Nimmala, but Caleb Pendleton tagged Stanifer with one of his own to tie it up. Edward Duran picked up his battery-mate with his first High-A homer, which earned Stanifer the win, as Matt Scannell gave them an insurance run with a single that same inning. Nate LaRue and Julio Ortiz both pitched scoreless innings before Aaron Munson came in to try to earn his third save. Munson allowed a few baserunners, and with runners on the corners, Rio Foster brought the score to a one-run game with a single. However, Munson locked it down, getting Randy De Jesus to pop up and Dario Laverde to ground out to end the game. Buffalo got to him in the first inning on a Yohendrick Pinango sacrifice fly, an error allowing Michael Stefanic to score, and Damiano Palmegiani's RBI single. Buffalo wouldn't score again though, as Lehigh Valley put together big inning after big inning. The big hits were a Brewer Hicklen home run and a Rodolfo Castro home run, while Justin Crawford had an RBI double and Donovan Walton added an RBI double as well. In the end, Lehigh Valley had 12 hits and 10 runs, as they went on to beat Buffalo 10-3. Damiano Palmegiani - 2-4, 0 R, 1 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K Adam Kloffenstein - 4 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K Buffalo (5), Lehigh Valley (4) - 8/16 Box Score Buffalo got things back on track in the series finale against Lehigh Valley. In the bottom of the first inning, Jonatan Clase launched his fourth home run for the Bisons on the season. In the third, Brandon Valenzuela doubled to bring home Pinango, and Josh Rivera homered in the fifth to give Buffalo five runs. In the eighth, Lehigh Valley mounted a late rally, scoring three runs on an RBI groundout from Hicklen and a two-run single from Robert Moore. It was one of the best all-around games the Fisher Cats have had in a while, and it was a great start to the long day of baseball. Things stood stagnant until the top of the sixth inning, when Charles McAdoo and Je'Von Ward powered up the lineup with back-to-back solo home runs. Ward wasn't done though, as he smashed another home run in the top of the seventh, a two-run blast, extending the lead to 8-0. That was more than enough for New Hampshire, with Rogers throwing a gem. He went six innings, only gave up six hits, didn't allow a walk, and struck out six en route to notching another quality start. Vancouver (6), Spokane (1) - 8/17 Box Score The Canadians maintained their momentum from the previous game, as they immediately scored again. This time, Toman knocked in Freethy for his second RBI as a Canadian and continued his hot stretch from down in Dunedin. In the third inning, Goodwin added to the lead with a homer, and Cunningham stole third base as an errant throw allowed him to go home to make it three to nothing. Then Scannell came up to the dish with Toman and Jay Harry on base, and he hit his first Vancouver homer to double the lead. Jackson Wentworth had a strong start, and after the Canadians went up six runs, he did allow a run, but he still went six innings and lowered his season ERA to 4.36. The bullpens for both teams allowed zero runs after that, as Bo Bonds, Javen Coleman and JJ Sanchez struck out eight batters in three innings without allowing a walk. Jean Joseph got it started in the first with a single to give the D-Jays the lead. Then, a big second inning started off with a Yorman Licourt three-run bomb. Eric Snow hit a sac fly, and Jake Casey came home on a balk for an early 6-0 lead for Dunedin. Diego Dominguez allowed two runs, with one being unearned due to a Joseph throwing error, but that was all for Tampa, as Eliander Alcalde earned his second save with three scoreless innings. Licourt got RBI number four in the game in the eighth as an extra insurance run. Yorman Licourt - 2-4, 1 R, 4 RBI, 1 HR Licourt has struggled in his first look at full-season baseball, but he hit his first homer in this one with a 96.5-mph shot to right with two runners on. Eliander Alcalde - 3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K Dunedin (5), Tampa (7) - 8/17 Box Score The Jays got off to an early start again, this time with Dariel Ramon getting it going with an RBI single, before Maddox Latta hit another single to score Yeuni Munoz to make it 2-0 early. Ediel Rivera hit an RBI single in the bottom of that same inning off of Holden Wilkerson, but Munoz hit a two-RBI single soon after to make it 4-1 for the D-Jays. However, the pitching faltered for Dunedin, as Wilkerson allowed two runs in the fourth and Nate LaRue allowed one more after replacing him. David Beckles took the lead back for the D-Jays with a clutch double, but LaRue continued to struggle, allowing a run to score to tie it in the fifth, and then two more in the sixth to lose the game. Grif Hughes came in to replace LaRue and threw 2.2 scoreless innings, but at that point, it was too little too late. BJB's scoring opportunity quickly came to an end, with a strikeout by Franklin Rojas and a groundball double play from Yeicer Crespo. In the bottom half of the inning, Ronny Ugarte cleared the bases with a three-run double, giving RCK the early lead. In the second, BJB loaded the bases with a single, a walk, and a hit by pitch. Just as in the first, their threat was thwarted when Daniel Dominguez struck out and Polanco grounded out to end the half inning. RCK would tack on three more runs in the seventh, as BJB couldn't get any more threats going and fell 6-0. BJB got another run in the fourth; this time it was Esmeiquel Arrieche hitting one to center and scoring Nuñez. Alejandro Cruz homered in the top of the fifth for the WSX, but Juarlin Soto got the run back in the bottom half of the inning with his double to right field that scored Crespo. BJB kept the pedal down, scoring three more in the sixth. Dominguez had an RBI groundout, Polanco singled home Arrieche, and Rojas singled in Polanco. It was an easy win for BJB, as they took this one 7-1. Two home runs in the fifth by Hector Francis and Leandy Mella would bring the Mets Blue team closer. J.T. Bain would answer with a home run of his own for the Blue Jays Red team. BJR would go on to get RBI doubles from Blanco and Randy Soto to extend the lead. BJR would go on to win this one 11-6. The Bisons hit the ground running in this one, as they loaded the bases in the top of the first. Riley Tirotta quickly cleared them when he launched a grand slam home run. Buffalo wasn't done, as two batters later, Orelvis Martinez smashed his 13th home run of the season, a two-run shot to put Buffalo up six. Kristian Campbell added a two-run homer for Worcester, and Nick Sogard tacked on an RBI single, but Buffalo would win this one 6-3. They sent Alex Amalfi to the mound against Charles King for the Fightin Phils. The day started off badly for New Hampshire, and it got progressively worse as the game wore on. In the top of the first inning, Felix Reyes got Reading on the scoreboard with an RBI single to left field, scoring Aidan Miller. Je'Von Ward got the run back in the bottom half of the inning, his RBI single scored Jackson Hornung. From there, it was all Reading all the time. In the top of the second, they scored two on an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. The game was broken open in a big way in the fourth, with three RBI singles by Reading's Bryson Ware, Miller, and Carson DeMartini. Nick Dunn contributed to the Fightin Phils’ lead with a two-run home run in the seventh, but they weren't done. Back-to-back RBI doubles in the eighth brought home two more, and then an RBI single made it a 12-1 lead. Four more runs in the top of the ninth capped off a crazy 16-1 beatdown of New Hampshire by Reading. Jackson Hornung: 2-4, 1 R, 1 SB Pat Gallagher: 2.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 2 K New Hampshire (1), Reading (2) - 8/10 Box Score After a brutal loss on Saturday, New Hampshire had Grant Rogers on the mound to right the ship and see if he could continue to rack up quality starts. Aidan Miller was again the thorn in New Hampshire's back, doubling to lead off the game, moving to third on a passed ball, and then scoring on a sacrifice fly. It was all Rogers the rest of the way, as he would not allow a runner to get to second base for the next five innings. He wound up getting another quality start, going six innings, only giving up four hits and one lone run, walking two and striking out two. As for the bats, they were non-existent from start to finish. Reading kept the New Hampshire hitting from doing anything at all; they would head into the ninth inning while still being no-hit. Fortunately for New Hampshire, Charles McAdoo came through in a big way, smacking a line drive double to center to tie the game up at one and send it to extra innings. Unfortunately, Reading's Erick Brito doubled home a run, and New Hampshire grounded into a double play to end the game, losing 2-1. Charles McAdoo: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 2B, 1 SB Grant Rogers: 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K Vancouver Canadians Vancouver (2), Hillsboro (1) - 8/9 Box Score Fernando Perez just continues to dominate High A, this time with a stellar seven-inning outing where he struck out eight batters. He still has not walked anyone. The Canadians didn’t have to do much offensively to take advantage of that start, as Edward Duran was able to get the first run on the board with an RBI single to score Carter Cunningham. Perez’s lone blemish was a run scored on a double play, but in the bottom of the eighth, Cunningham reached on a fielding error with two outs on an 0-2 count, which resulted in Jay Harry scoring and winning the game for the Canadians eventually. Eddie Micheletti Jr. - 1-3, 1 BB Fernando Perez - 7 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K The young Nicaraguan righty has dominated High A, showing some real strikeout stuff after not being able to strike out much to start the season. He’s now earned a promotion to Double-A New Hampshire due to his most recent performances. Vancouver (5), Hillsboro (7) - 8/10 Box Score The Canadians had a very strong start, with Arjun Nimmala giving them an early lead with a three-run homer in the third, and Chris McElvain pitched five innings of shutout ball, which put them in a great spot. Unfortunately, Colby Holcombe’s struggles continued, as he was only able to get two outs and allowed five runs to balloon his ERA to 15.88 in Vancouver. Johan Simon came in and got an out, but also allowed two runs to score in the seventh as well. The Canadians had one more chance in the bottom of the seventh, as Nimmala was up to the plate with the bases loaded after Dawson Brown had lost their command, resulting in walks and a wild pitch that scored a run. Unfortunately, Nimmala was only able to muster up a sac fly, as the scoring opportunities disappeared after that. Arjun Nimmala - 1-3, 1 R, 4 RBI, 1 HR Nimmala had been on a homer drought since hitting homer number 12, and he’s finally hit number 13. The 2023 first-rounder has slowed down quite a bit since his hot start, and hopefully this homer marks the end of that slump. Chris McElvain - 5 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K Dunedin Blue Jays Dunedin (3), Palm Beach (2) - 8/9 Box Score The weather continues to be an issue for the D-Jays, as once again they had to deal with delays caused by rain. Johnny King was able to pitch two innings of two-run ball, and he struck out four batters despite giving up two homers. King was taken out after the weather delay, and Juanmi Vasquez had another stellar outing, going four scoreless with seven strikeouts. The D-Jays rallied back in the bottom of the seventh; this was the first game of a doubleheader, as the game was postponed to the next day. Maddox Latta drove in the first run with a groundout to score Eric Snow, and then Matt Scannell evened it up with an RBI double. Josh Kasevich did what he does best with a single to right field to knock in Latta for a walk-off win. Josh Kasevich - 2-4, 1 RBI Juanmi Vasquez - 4 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K Vasquez had a slow start to the season but has been red-hot over his past few games. In his last four appearances, he’s struck out 23 batters in only 12 innings of work. This earned him a promotion up to Vancouver, along with fellow D-Jays Austin Cates and Silvano Hechavarria. Dunedin (), Palm Beach () - 8/9 - Continuation of 8/8 game Cancelled Dunedin (0), Palm Beach (4) - 8/10 Box Score The D-Jays got three-hit in the second game of the doubleheader, as the team apparently used all their offense up in the seventh inning earlier in the day. Hechavarria was inefficient, with 69 pitches in under three innings, which resulted in the bullpen coming in after he gave up a run. Nate LaRue and Danny Thompson Jr. kept it within one, but Carson Myers then gave up a run on a single that went off his glove, and Jack Eshleman struggled, giving up five hits and allowing two more runs for a disappointing 4-0 shutout loss. He was looking much like his normal self, continuing to rehab in Triple A. He was sitting around 92 and 93 mph on his fastball. On the day, he went five innings, allowed two runs, gave up one walk, and struck out six batters. Luke Ritter had the big hit off of Bieber, a solo home run to right field to put the Mets up by two. The Fisher Cats started the scoring in the top of the fourth inning, when Charles McAdoo singled home Victor Arias. Chesapeake took the lead in the bottom of the fifth with RBI singles from Aron Estrada and Brandon Butterworth. With New Hampshire still down one headed into the final inning of the doubleheader shortened game, the Fisher Cats were on the ropes, but up for the task. Gabriel Martinez smacked a ball to right for a ground-rule double, Alex De Jesus walked, and then Dasan Brown (pinch runner) and De Jesus stole second and third base. Alex Stone didn't let the opportunity go to waste, as he knocked a single to center, scoring the two and giving New Hampshire a one-run lead as the game moved to the bottom of the seventh. Estrada and Butterworth wouldn't let Chesapeake go down without a fight, and both again had big hits. Estrada tripled and Butterworth doubled him home to tie the game up and send it to extra innings. In the top of the eighth, McAdoo made sure to give New Hampshire some breathing room, launching his 11th home run of the season, a two-run shot to left field. Conor Larkin came into the game in the bottom of the eighth and shut the door on another rally by Chesapeake, giving New Hampshire the 5-4 win. Arias gave Watts-Brown a big welcome when he led off the game with a solo home run to center, his first with the Fisher Cats. Frederick Bencosme tied the game up at one in the bottom of the second inning on a little league inside the park home run, aided by a fielding error on the center fielder, Brown. Ward gave New Hampshire the lead back with a two-run little league inside the park home run of his own, aided by an error on Chesapeake's center fielder. In the fourth, New Hampshire added three more runs on Alex Stone's RBI single and Arias’ second home run of the game off of Watts-Brown, a two-run shot. In the bottom half of the inning, Butterworth then homered to cut the Fisher Cats’ lead down to four. De Jesus broke the game open for New Hampshire in the fifth, driving in two on his single to left. Arias then capped off his big day with an RBI ground out, as the Fisher Cats cruised to a 9-4 win and ruined Watts-Brown's homecoming. The Canadians got on the board first despite a Sean Keys double play, as Eddie Micheletti Jr. was able to score despite two outs coming on the board. In the bottom of the fourth, the Dust Devils got a run off Stanifer with a sac fly, but Arjun Nimmala had a big double in the fifth inning to score Bryce Arnold and Cutter Coffey, although Micheletti got thrown out at home. Carter Cunningham hit a single to score Nimmala, and the bullpens locked it down for both teams after that, with Colby Holcombe getting his first win, Irv Carter earning a three-inning hold, and Jonathan Todd striking out the side for the save. Arjun Nimmala - 3-4, 1 R, 2 RBI, 2 2B After Nimmala’s hot start to the season, he really came back to earth in most of July. However, he’s been swinging a hot bat to end July and go into August, re-finding his form in a major way. Gage Stanifer - 4 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 4 K Stanifer raised his season strikeout total to 115 after this start. The walks are showing again in High A, but as he passed his career high in innings pitched, it was bound to happen. It's still an excellent breakout campaign for the 21-year-old. Vancouver (2), Tri-City (0) - 8/3 Box Score This was a day for pitching for the Canadians. Micheletti hit a two-RBI double for the lead in the third inning, and then the pitchers showed their stuff. Fernando Perez was already one of the best pitchers in July for the farm system, and he was absolutely dominant, going six strong innings and facing only one batter over the minimum; he gave up one hit and struck out seven. Yondrei Rojas continued his scoreless streak with two no-hit innings and four strikeouts, and then Kai Peterson got his first save of the year with a no-hit inning himself, and two strikeouts. All in all, the Canadians pitching combined for 9 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 13 K, a pitching masterclass. Eddie Micheletti Jr. - 2-5, 2 RBI, 1 2B Fernando Perez - 6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K Perez generated 14 whiffs in a dominant performance that earned him Minor League Pitcher of the Week in the Northwest League. His season ERA is now down to 3.19. Dunedin Blue Jays Dunedin (2), Fort Myers (3) - 8/2 - F/10 Box Score Johnny King bump day is always a spectacle to see, and he didn’t disappoint, striking out seven batters and showing much improved command this go around. The Mighty Mussels had opportunities with runners in scoring position, as there were runners on the corners with two outs in the fifth inning, but Marek Houston could not capitalize as he struck out. In the top of the seventh, the Jays got on the board first with an RBI single to score Braden Barry after a double from Matt Scannell. The second time Houston came up with a runner in scoring position, however, he knocked in a run, tying the game one apiece. The game went to extras after no other runs scored, where a passed ball gave the Jays a lead going into the bottom of the 10th. However, Jay Schueler could not keep the lead intact, as he not only gave up a single to Houston again, but then another single to lose a tough game in walk-off fashion. Braden Barry - 2-3, 1 R, 1 2B Johnny King - 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K Dunedin (7), Fort Myers (1) - 8/3 - F/11 Box Score This game was very close, until it wasn’t. Austin Smith hit a 100.2-mph double to score the first run. Silvano Hechavarria kept the Mighty Mussels from scoring, but Juanmi Vasquez blew the save after Luis Hernandez hit a single to score the first run for Fort Myers. The game went to extras, and both teams could not score the ghost runner in the tenth inning, but in the top of the 11th inning, the D-Jays exploded for six runs, as Kendry Chirinos hit a double to score the ghost runner, Hayden Gilliland walked with the bases loaded to score another, and Tucker Toman hit a sac fly to bring the lead to three runs. Brock Tibbitts hit a big double for his fourth of the season to score two more runners, and then Eric Snow got the last run in with a groundout. Eminen Flores finished off the game in the 11th to win the last contest of the season series. Brock Tibbitts - 4-5, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 2B Tibbitts has had his best game yet since returning from the injured list. The 22-year-old 13th-rounder is really swinging it well. Silvano Hechavarria - 5 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K Hechavarria had another scoreless outing, dropping his ERA under 2.00. The 22-year-old Cuban has been getting better ever since coming over to affiliated ball and does not seem to be slowing down at all. DSL Blue Jays Blue D-BJB (1), D-MRN (5) F/7 - 8/2 Box Score BJB took on MRN down in the Dominican Republic on Saturday. Juarlin Soto opened up the second inning with a lead-off double, moved over to third on Fabian Gonzalez's groundout, then scored on Darwin Núñez's sacrifice fly. Gonzalez would record two more hits over the next five innings, but that was all of the base knocks BJB would get. Their pitching didn't hold up either, as Michael De La Cruz gave up three runs and Manuel Suero coughed up two runs himself. BJB got dominated in all aspects of this game on their way to losing 5-1. Fabian Gonzalez: 2-3 Cesar Cerezo: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K D-BJB (2), D-ARB (5) - 8/4 Box Score BJB came into Monday's game looking to do more with the bats against ARB. They did what they sought to do, but unfortunately, they had no timely hits to hang their hat on. BJB racked up 10 hits in the game, but despite that, they hung zero after zero on the scoreboard and headed into the bottom of the ninth inning down 5-0. Soto led off the inning with a single and then scored a few batters later on a ground out by Rafael Flores. Later in the inning, Gonzalez singled home Daniel Dominguez, but Cristopher Polanco struck out to end the scoring threat and the game. BJB lost this one 5-2. Get ready for a weekend theme from this team: The offense was struggling. Not everyone had an issue though, as Juan Sanchez went 2-for-3 for the BJR team. His two singles were the entirety of the BJR offense on this day. Well, BJR did add three walks, but it was rough nonetheless. The MEO team got a solo blast from Roybert Herrera in the fourth and scored three more in the fifth on a single, a sacrifice fly, and a double. BJR didn't have it on this day and took the loss 5-0. The BJR starting pitcher got three outs in the first inning, but a strike three passed ball let the inning continue, and Willian Berti smacked a three-run home run to give TI1 the lead. After the home run, both teams couldn't buy a hit, as there were only four hits the rest of the game. With the calendar switching over to August, the MLB trade deadline has come and gone, and now the final stretch of the minor league season is slowly coming into view. There have been big performances this season in the Toronto Blue Jays' farm system, and it is that time again to recognize some of the top hitting displays from the month of July. Let's first take a look at a few honorable mentions. These hitters were noteworthy but didn't make the final countdown. Stats up to date through the end of July. Honorable Mentions 8. C, Ali Sánchez, 28, Triple A, Buffalo Bisons 11 G 36 AB .361/.425/.472 146 wRC+ 10% BB% 20% K% 4 2B Top Five Hitters of the Month (July) 5. 3B, Kendry Chirinos, 20, Single A, Dunedin Blue Jays 11 G 38 AB .316/.400/.421 130 wRC+ 13.3% BB% 26.7% K% 1 2B 1 HR Kendry Chirinos is a third baseman for the Dunedin Blue Jays who was signed by the Toronto Blue Jays out of Venezuela in 2022. Now at Single A, he has begun putting things together with the bat. He made the list here because he was about as consistent as possible in the month of July. He managed to have hits in nine of his 11 games played in the month. His highlight game was on July 19, when he went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. 4. 3B, Cutter Coffey, 21, High A, Vancouver Canadians 24 G 97 AB .299/.373/.495 136 wRC+ 10.0% BB% 16.4% K% 10 2B 3 HR Cutter Coffey was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the second round of the 2024 draft and traded to the Toronto Blue Jays last summer. He has really taken off in the months of June and July, after starting the season slowly. He hit just .229 and .244 in the months of April and May, respectively. In June, his offensive numbers skyrocketed, as he slashed .337/.412/.506. July wasn't as good, but he did manage to have eight multi-hit games and launch three home runs. He has a very good slash line for the year now, and if he continues putting up numbers like he did in June and July, he could see himself in New Hampshire shortly. With good hitting prospects below Triple A in short supply for the Blue Jays, Coffey could be one of the rising names as the season comes down to its last month. 3. 3B Charles McAdoo, 23, Double A, New Hampshire Fisher Cats 22 G 83 AB .265/.337/.482 139 wRC+ 9.8% BB% 31.5% K% 3 2B 5 HR 5 SB Charles McAdoo is another player who came over to the Toronto Blue Jays system at the 2024 trade deadline. Also, like many players in the Blue Jays' minor league system, he struggled with the bat for the first couple of months this year before really turning it on. In July, he crushed five home runs, doubling his total for the whole season. Maybe one of the most surprising things about his season is that he now looks like one of the best dual threats for the Blue Jays in the minor leagues. By the end of July, McAdoo had racked up 10 home runs and 20 stolen bases on the season. He could be the next in line for a promotion to Triple-A Buffalo, and the power/speed combo could be what gets him there. 2. 1B/OF David Beckles, 21, FCL Blue Jays 17 G 64 AB .359/.414/.609 180 wRC+ 5.7% BB% 20.0% K% 4 2B 4 HR David Beckles was signed as a minor league free agent by the Toronto Blue Jays and has been phenomenal in his first season with the team. The month of July was no different, as he helped lead the FCL Blue Jays team to the FCL League Championship last week. He had a 180 wRC+ in the month and was a power-hitting machine in a league that often doesn't see much power from hitters. He was a little old for the level, but the next step should be to move up to Single-A Dunedin to face better pitchers. 1. SS Juan Sanchez, 17, DSL Blue Jays 21 G 85 AB .318/.427/.518 145 wRC+ 9.7% BB% 10.7% K% 7 2B 2 3B 2 HR 7 HBP The Blue Jays signed Juan Sanchez during the J15 period this past January, and he has taken the baseball field by storm down on the island. In the DSL this year, he has been one of the better hitters and really took off in July. He was an extra-base machine, hitting 11 on the month and looking like one of the better DSL hitters the Blue Jays have had in years. He had a 175 wRC+, an OBP near .500, and a SLG above .600 before a hitless three-game stretch to close the month. One of the best things in this stretch from Sanchez was his plate skills, as he had almost as many walks as strikeouts for the month. Trey Yesavage was on the mound for New Hampshire, and it was perfection from him and near-perfection from the bullpen. He went only four innings (48 pitches), but it was his best start at Double A this year. Harford's hitters went 12 up, 12 down against Yesavage and struck out five times, all swinging. New Hampshire took full advantage of the gem, with an offense led by Jackson Hornung. He doubled in the first inning, then scored on Ryan McCarty's single to left field. Devonte Brown led off the bottom of the second with a solo home run to left field, giving New Hampshire a 2-0 lead. Hornung got in on the long ball fun as well, launching his third home run to right field, a solo shot, in the bottom of the third. Alex Amalfi came in for Yesavage in the fifth and kept the perfect game alive, notching a one-two-three inning. Unfortunately, history would not repeat itself for the Fisher Cats, as Juan Guerrero doubled in the sixth to break up the perfect game and no-hitter. The bullpen would coast from there, though, with the double being the only baserunner Hartford would get on the day. New Hampshire added three more runs in the eighth on Cade Doughty's RBI single, Brown's sacrifice fly, and a runner coming home on a passed ball. The Fisher Cats dominated on the way to a 6-0 win. Jackson Hornung: 2-3, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HR, 1 2B Trey Yesavage: 4 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K New Hampshire (), Hartford () - 7/27 Postponed Vancouver Canadians Vancouver (5), Eugene (3) - 7/26 - F/10 Box Score The Canadians had a bullpen day after the 'pen was stretched thin with some extra-inning games and a doubleheader the previous couple of days, but the pitching was pretty good. Edinson Batista did give up three runs in 3.2 innings, but Johan Simon and Julio Ortiz blanked the Emeralds after that. Carter Cunningham got the scoring going for the Canadians with a solo homer in the sixth to bring the lead to within two, then, in the bottom of the eighth, Nick Goodwin reached on a fielding error that led to Cunningham scoring again. After that, Bryce Arnold walked with the bases loaded to score Goodwin. The game remained tied going into the 10th inning, and Ortiz prevented the ghost runner from scoring. The Canadians walked it off on a huge Sean Keys homer in the bottom of the frame. Sean Keys - 1-3, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB Keys showed off his power with his 12th homer of the season to win the game in extras for the Canadians. Johan Simon - 3.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K Vancouver (0), Eugene (1) - 7/27 Box Score Runs were hard to come by for both teams, as the starting pitchers were excellent in this game. Gage Stanifer pitched five strong scoreless innings with eight strikeouts, and Cesar Perdomo went 6.1 scoreless innings himself. The only run to score in the whole game was from a Charlie Szykowny double off of Colby Holcombe, who has struggled recently. In the bottom of the eighth, the Canadians had a chance to tie it with Edward Duran hitting his second double with two outs, but Cunningham grounded out. That was all they wrote for the Canadians, as they lost a nail-biter. Edward Duran - 2-4, 1 2B Gage Stanifer - 5 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 K After a few shaky starts, Stanifer had what was possibly his best start of the season, only allowing two baserunners and striking out eight in five scoreless innings. Dunedin Blue Jays Dunedin (7), Bradenton (1) - 7/26 Box Score Off the back of a strong start from Austin Cates, the D-Jays earned a nice win against the Marauders. The Marauders struggled to stay in the zone, as in the first inning, the Jays scored their first run on a bases-loaded walk. In the fifth inning, there was an offensive explosion, as an Alexis Hernandez double added to the lead, and then Kendry Chirinos drew a walk in another bases-loaded situation. Manuel Beltre almost cleared the bases with a double, and then Lizandro Rodriguez added another run on a lineout to make it a five-run inning for the D-Jays. Daniel Guerra relieved Cates and went four strong innings himself, as he’s been much better in relief, only allowing a solo homer to Edward Florentino. Beltre added to a strong day with a single in the ninth to give him his third RBI of the night. Manuel Beltre - 3-5, 3 RBI, 1 2B Austin Cates - 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K Austin Cates has been too good for Dunedin, as shown by his sub-2.00 ERA over his past 12 appearances. He should push his way up to higher levels given his strong performances. Dunedin (6), Bradenton (8) - 7/27 Box Score The Jays faced off against Bradenton again, and they loaded the bases early in the second inning but were unable to capitalize fully, as Beltre grounded into a double play, and only one run scored. Braden Barry flew out right after. Hernandez and Tucker Toman helped score two runs in the third, however, as they both doubled. Johnny King let in a run after a passed ball from Hayden Gilliland but got out of the inning after facing traffic. The issues started for the D-Jays when the 'pen was in, as Bennett Flynn gave up five runs himself, three being earned, and Eric Pardinho gave up two runs. The defense didn’t do them any favours with three errors and a passed ball this game. The Jays made a comeback in the ninth after being down five runs with a Chirinos sac fly scoring one run, and then a Barry double scoring two more with two outs, but they couldn’t complete the comeback. Tucker Toman - 3-5, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 2 Johnny King - 3 IP, 1 H, 1 R (0 ER), 3 BB, 7 K King struggled hard with his command, with two wild pitches, three hit batters, and three walks. However, he was strong at keeping runners from scoring once they got on base, with seven strikeouts and only an unearned run scoring. FCL Blue Jays F-BLU (4), F-AST (3) - F/10 - 7/26 Box Score Saturday's game marked the first game of the FCL playoffs for the Toronto Blue Jays' squad, and it was against the Houston Astros' team. This game was a pitcher's duel from the get-go, with Troy Guthrie pitching lights out for the Blue Jays. He went five innings, gave up just two hits and two walks, struck out four, and held the Astros scoreless. The Blue Jays were carrying a one-run lead that they got in the top of the first from a David Beckles groundout, which scored Raimundo De Los Santos on a throwing error. In the seventh, the Astros tied the game when Arturo Flores doubled in a run. Beckles quickly turned that back into a one-run lead on an RBI single to right field in the eighth. The back and forth continued in the bottom half of the inning, as the Astros tied the game on a run-scoring balk. The win-or-go-home game came down to extra innings. The Blue Jays struck first in the 10th, as a Drew Jemison single and a throwing error brought in a run, and then Aldo Gaxiola hit an RBI single of his own to put the Blue Jays up two. Diego Dominguez came in to pitch the bottom of the frame and gave up a single, a sacrifice fly, and another single to the first three batters. He locked in from there, getting the last two hitters on a pop out and ground out. The Blue Jays' team moved on to the finals. It was another game dominated by pitching, and baserunners were hard to come by in this one. Sann Omosako shined for the Blue Jays, going five shutout innings, giving up just two hits and four walks, and striking out two hitters. Juan Cota matched him from the Twins side, only surrendering three hits and no runs as well in five innings. In the seventh, the lid was pried off the plate when Isaac Pena singled home a run for the Twins. The bottom of the eighth came around, and the Blue Jays still needed to get on the scoreboard. Gaxiola hit a double to center field, scoring De Los Santos and tying the game. Yorman Licourt then came to bat and drove in Gaxiola to give the Blue Jays a one-run lead. That was it, as Franly Urena shut the door on the Twins and the Blue Jays took Game 1 of the best-of-three series. Aldo Gaxiola - 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 2B Sann Omosako - 5 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K F-BLU (7), F-TWI (5) - 7/28 Box Score Championship Monday had a good ring to it for the FCL Toronto Blue Jays team, as they looked to finish a somewhat unlikely playoff run. Samuel Colmenares kicked things off on the mound for the Blue Jays' team, and he was successful in holding the Twins' squad in check. He gave up just one walk and no runs, while striking out one in 2.2 innings. The Blue Jays took the lead in the fourth inning of the game when Dylan Leach roped a bases-clearing three-run double to right field. Things turned upside down in the bottom half of the inning, as the Twins scored on an error, a bases-loaded walk, and a sacrifice fly to tie the game at three. In the seventh, Gaxiola came through for the Blue Jays by driving in two runs on a single to center field. With a two-run lead, De Los Santos hit an RBI single in the eighth, and David Beckles put the Blue Jays up four with a bases-loaded walk. It all came down to the bottom of the ninth, where things got wild. A groundout, a single, another groundout, and a walk put the Blue Jays one out from taking the Championship Series after four hitters, but the Twins weren't ready to have their season end. Dominguez came on to finish the game, and he was a bit jittery. He threw a wild pitch to allow a run to score, then he walked his first batter on another wild pitch, allowing a second run to score. He then hit the second batter he faced, bringing Eduardo Beltre to the plate. Dominguez threw the first pitch to Beltre, and that was it: a long fly ball to right field……..falling into the glove of Licourt. The Blue Jays FCL team had won the FCL Championship!!! In the bottom of the first, BJB got on the scoreboard with a big inning. They loaded up the bases on a walk, single, and hit by pitch. Yeicer Crespo singled home Cristopher Polanco, Juarlin Soto was hit by a pitch with the bases still loaded, and Darwin Núñez grounded into a double play to score the third run. In the second, they added another run on Rafael Flores’ sacrifice fly that scored J.T. Bain. MRN tied the game up with two runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Polanco led off the bottom of the sixth with a single and moved to third base on Angel Guzman's single. Flores gave BJB the lead back when he smacked a ball to right field for a sacrifice fly, aided by a fielding error. The bullpen held strong the rest of the game, not giving up another hit, giving BJB the 5-4 win. Cristopher Polanco: 1-2, 2 R, 3 BB, 1 K Michael De La Cruz: 4 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 7 K D-BJB (0), D-PIB (11) S/4 - 7/28 Box Score BJB was down big on Monday against PIB when rain washed out the game, causing it to be suspended in the middle of the bottom of the fourth. BJB only had two hits in the game, a double from Elian Reyes and a single from Crespo. On the flip side, their pitchers gave up 11 runs through three innings and part of the fourth. DSL Blue Jays Red D-BJR (16), D-NAT (3) - 7/26 Box Score BJR had an offensive explosion with the bats on Saturday down in the Dominican Republic. Juan Sanchez continued blistering baseballs, racking up three hits, including two doubles. His partner in crime was again Elaineiker Coronado, and the two have formed a fearsome duo at the top of the order. Coronado racked up four hits in this game, as BJR torched the baseball to the tune of 16 hits in this one. BJR had three big innings, the first of which was the top of the third. Sanchez started things off by doubling in Nicolas Vergara and then scored on Kennew Blanco's single. Randy Soto then shot a ball to left for a sacrifice fly, and Pascual Archila capped it off with an RBI double. Sanchez added another RBI double in the fifth, scoring Luis Felipe and then crossing home himself on Blanco's double-play ball. In the top of the eighth, Vergara and Felipe had RBI singles, Sanchez added an RBI groundout, and Felipe scored on a balk. In the top of the ninth, BJR loaded the bases, and Coronado cleared them with his single to third base and a throwing error by the third baseman. BJR coasted to a 16-3 win. They were shut out and held to only four hits, two by Coronado. Luis Fonseca did fairly well on the mound, going four innings and not walking anyone, while giving up four hits, two runs (one earned), and striking out three. The big damage against BJR came in the top of the sixth when their pitcher, Luis Victorino, committed a throwing error, allowing two runs to score. BJR fell to Ti1 6-0. Christian Bethancourt launched his sixth long ball of the season in the third inning, a solo shot to center field. Ali Sánchez's single to right field added a run for Buffalo in the fourth. The Buffalo pitchers kept the Storm Chasers in check all night. Starter CJ Van Eyk went 3 1/3 innings, gave up four hits, zero earned runs, walked two, and struck out three. In the seventh, a wild pitch would bring home Bethancourt to give the Bisons a three-run lead. Amir Garrett came on to close the game in the ninth for Buffalo. He walked the first batter, and the second hitter of the inning launched a triple to bring in a run. Former Blue Jay, Cavan Biggio, brought in a second run via a sacrifice fly. Garrett would induce a ground out from Drew Waters to finish the inning, and Buffalo would win the game 3-2. Adam Kloffenstein was starting on the mound for Buffalo and he was roughed up. In the first inning, MJ Melendez launched a home run to center field to give the Storm Chasers a one run lead. In the second, a bases loaded walk brought in another. A Carter Jensen solo shot in the third brought the lead for the Storm Chasers to three. Drew Waters’ RBI double and Jensen's RBI single increased the lead to six in the fourth. In the seventh, Buffalo finally got on the board with a Buddy Kennedy RBI single to left field. Riley Tirotta would add an RBI single of his own to cut the lead to four. Two RBI doubles for the Storm Chasers in the eighth extended the lead back to six. In the bottom of the eighth, Jonatan Clase doubled in Michael Stefanic and then RJ Schreck blasted a two-run home run. Clase doubled in another run in the ninth, but Buffalo couldn't get it any closer. They lost this one 8-6. RJ Schreck- 2-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 HR Dillon Tate- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K New Hampshire Fisher Cats New Hampshire (11), Binghamton (6) - 7/19 Box Score Saturday's game between New Hampshire and Binghamton was an offensive explosion for the Fisher Cats’ bats, but a worrisome sight for the bullpen. Juaron Watts-Brown started the game for New Hampshire and it was one of his worst outings of the season. In the first inning, his command eluded him, as he walked a batter, gave up a single, and then hit another batter. JT Schwartz then smacked a ball to left field for a sacrifice fly and Chris Suero singled home the other two baserunners, giving Binghamton the quick 3-0 lead. In the second, Watts-Brown started off hot, striking out the first two hitters, but then Jett Williams manufactured a run after his single by stealing second base and then scoring on a Carson Benge single. New Hampshire fought back in the bottom of the second inning, getting a crooked number of their own. They scored one on a double play ball to second base and another on a passed ball by the catcher. Jackson Hornung then launched his second home run at Double-A, a big three-run shot to center, scoring three. In the bottom of the third, Devonte Brown added a run to New Hampshire's lead with a long ball of his own to right field. After giving the run back to Binghamton in the top of the fifth, New Hampshire's bats kept the offensive outburst going in the bottom half of the inning. Two runs would score on Cade Doughty's single to center, two more would score on Gabriel Martinez's triple, who himself would score on a wild pitch. New Hampshire's bullpen held strong the rest of the game, only surrendering one more run when Nick Lorusso doubled home Schwartz in the seventh. The Fisher Cats cruised to a big win, 11-6. Jackson Hornung: 2-5, 1 R, 3 RBI, 1 K, 1 HR Michael Dominguez: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K New Hampshire (9), Binghamton (12) - 7/20 Box Score Sunday's finale with Binghamton was not the Double-A debut that Khal Stephen was hoping for. He got hit hard during his four innings and got touched up with a couple of long balls. Jacob Reimer lead-off the second inning with one of those home runs, a solo shot to center. Binghamton would score two more runs in the inning, one on a fielder’s choice and the other on a sacrifice bunt. In the bottom half of the inning, New Hampshire scored their first run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Dasan Brown. Stephen then surrendered his second home run of the game in the top of the third inning, this one a two-run shot by Nick Lorusso. In the bottom half, Victor Arias would scamper home on an error, cutting Binghamton's lead to three. The Rumble Ponies would then put up a three-spot on the scoreboard in the fifth, highlighted by Kevin Parada's two-run triple. New Hampshire started a comeback in the seventh, Jackson Hornung singled home Brown, Ryan McCarty drew a bases-loaded walk, and then Cade Doughty knocked in Hornung on a single. The Fisher Cats weren't done though, they batted around, scoring three more, with the big hit being Brown's second hit of the inning, a double scoring two. In all, New Hampshire would score seven runs in the inning and take the lead 9-8. The momentum was short-lived however, Binghamton tied it up in the ninth, before JT Schwartz unloaded on a pitch, a three-run home run, for what would be the game winning runs. New Hampshire fell in a wild one, 12-9. Dasan Brown: 2-4, 1 R, 3 RBI, 1 2B, 1 SB Khal Stephen: 4 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 K Vancouver Canadians Vancouver (1), Spokane (2) - 7/19 Box Score This was a low scoring affair, as Jackson Wentworth and Braxton Hyde both only gave up one run. In the bottom of the third inning, Bryce Arnold hit a double with no outs, and then fellow Canadian Sam Shaw had his first RBI in Vancouver with a double of his own. Arjun Nimmala had a chance to break the game open with runners on the corner with one out, but grounded into a double play to break the momentum for Vancouver. Wentworth had the lead going into the sixth inning, but gave up a solo shot to GJ Hill with one out. The Canadians had another opportunity in the bottom of the seventh, as Shaw’s single with Arnold at first with one out putting two runners on base, and then Cutter Coffey walked to load the bases. Unfortunately, Eddie Micheletti Jr. and Arjun Nimmala couldn’t deliver as they left all three runners on base. Irv Carter replaced Wentworth and pitched well, but in the top of the eighth a speedy runner on base led to a run, as Caleb Hobson stole two bases and then scored on a wild pitch, which ended up being the winning run for Spokane. Cutter Coffey - 2-3, 2 BB, 1 2B Jackson Wentworth - 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K Wentworth was taken out of the game early in his previous start after a trainer came to the mound, but pitched a great game the start immediately after, assuaging injury concerns. Vancouver (4), Spokane (6) - 7/20 Box Score The third game of the series, and the Canadians immediately went down early in the first inning with an Aidan Longwell homer off of Edinson Batista. No runs scored until Edinson Batista was taken out in the fifth inning, and Jonathan Todd got two quick outs before Longwell singled and then Blake Wright hit a homer to extend the lead for Spokane. Kai Peterson came in after Todd and after a walk, a Tevin Tucker steal, and a GJ Hill single, Carter Cunningham committed a throwing error which allowed Tucker to score. Peterson was able to strike out three batters after in the inning but the lead was again raised. JJ Sanchez similarly had issues with runners on base after giving up a single to Jean Perez, who immediately stole two bases and then scored on a wild pitch. Darius Perry homered for the third Spokane homer on the night, as the Canadians had just the bottom of the ninth to come back into the game. It started with Peyton Powell’s first High-A hit, then Dunedin teammate Sam Shaw also singled before Cutter Coffey hit an RBI-double to put the Canadians on the board. Eddie Micheletti Jr. hit a single for the fourth Canadians hit in a row to score Shaw and Coffey to put the game within three. Arjun Nimmala was hit by a pitch, and after a Sean Keys sac fly, Edward Duran had the fifth hit for the Canadians during the inning to score Micheletti Jr., but that was the last run for the Canadians as Cunningham and Jay Harry struck out after Cade Denton came in to shut the door. Cutter Coffey - 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 2B Coffey has been a doubles machine for the Canadians, with his two doubles in this game tying him for the second most doubles in the Northwest League, with 22 on the season. The former Red Sox second rounder hasn’t shown the homer power that he did last season, but has shown much better gap power in exchange. Edinson Batista - 4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K Batista has been very flexible for the Jays organization after acquiring him in a trade from the Astros earlier this season. The results have not been the prettiest, but he’s been moving in and out of the rotation and the bullpen as changes have been going on within the organization. Dunedin Blue Jays Dunedin (12), Tampa (4) - 7/20 Box Score The D-Jays had an offensive explosion, as they had 11 hits, with six of them being for extra bases. They were able to get to Xavier Rivas early and often, tacking on seven runs within only three innings, with the first four being off just productive outs and wild pitches, but then Aponte gave the Jays a 7-0 lead with a three run homer in the bottom of the third. Hans Montero got to Austin Cates in the fifth with a homer, but then Alexis Hernandez answered back with one of his own in the bottom of the same inning. Daniel Guerra replaced Cates and pitched four strong innings to earn the save, but gave up a two-runner to Tyler Wilson. Kendry Chirinos and Yhoangel Aponte erased that homer with a homer each. The Jays had some of the most homers they’ve had and it’s even more impressive after the ground of promotions within the team. Yhoangel Aponte - 3-4, 3 R, 4 RBI, 2 HR Aponte has struggled after starting off the season strong, as he hadn’t had an extra base hit in a month. However, he had three hits today including two homers, breaking the extra base hitless streak and homerless streak. Austin Cates - 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 7 K Cates has not much left to prove in Dunedin but is blocked by a crowded rotation in the level above him. Fastball velocity was up and he was averaging 21 inches of induced vertical break, and a strong whiff rate with the splitter. Dunedin (7), Tampa (1) - 7/21 Box Score A lot of high profile major leaguers were on rehab assignment for Dunedin, with Daulton Varsho in center field and Alek Manoah on the bump. Manoah didn’t have the velo as he had in his rookie ball start, but was able to go two innings, only giving up one run, with three hits and two strikeouts. Varsho tied the game after Manoah was taken out in the bottom of the third with an RBI-ground out, and then in the fifth inning Varsho had a three run homer. Tucker Toman added a homer himself that same inning, to make it five to one for the D-Jays. Toman did it again in the seventh, with his fifth homer of the season and second of the game. Johnny King, Jay Schueler, and Juanmi Vazquez were able to pitch seven scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts in relief after Manoah was taken out, with the D-Jays winning two dominant games in a row. Tucker Toman - 2-3, 2 R, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 2 HR Toman tied his career high in homers, as the former second rounder has struggled early in his career but has had his best game of the season for Dunedin. Johnny King - 4 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 9 K FCL Blue Jays F-BLU (4), F-PHI (3) - 7/19 Box Score The FCL Blue Jays struck first in this game, when David Beckles got a hold of a ball and launched it over the left centerfield fence for a solo blast. The bats were quiet after that for both teams until the eighth. A triple for the Phillies team tied things up at one and then in the ninth they added a sacrifice fly and an RBI single to take the lead by two. In the bottom of the ninth, Beckles walked, Aldo Gaxiola singled, and Enmanuel Bonilla added a single to load the bases with one out. From there, Raimundo De Los Santos singled home two runs, aided by an error to tie the game. Drew Jemison walked to load the bases again, and then Dariel Ramon took ball four for the walk-off walk! David Beckles- 2-2, 2 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 HR Eduar Gonzalez- 3 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K F-BLU (4), F-PHI (3) - F/10 - 7/21 Box Score The Tigers squad got things started in this game. On a double steal in the bottom of the first inning, the catcher's throw was off and a run scored on the error. In the fourth, David Beckles continued his hot streak by crushing his sixth home run of the season, this one a solo shot. In the sixth, it was again Beckles who got a hold of a pitch and deposited it over the wall for his second home run of the game. Raimundo De Los Santos followed later in the inning with an RBI double. A two-run double for the Tigers team tied the game in the eighth and it would then go to extras. In the tenth, the Blue Jays team would go down in order on two fly outs and a strikeout looking. In the Tigers’ half of the inning, a bunt single and then later a sacrifice fly would end this game with a walk-off for the Tigers. David Beckles- 2-5, 2 R, 2 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K, 2 HR Lluveres Severino- 3 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K DSL Blue Jays Blue D-BJB (4), D-WSX (10) F/7 - 7/21 Box Score After a little break for the DSL All-Star game, BJB was back in game action against WSX. They started the game down 5-0, after giving up a grand slam in the top of the first inning to Jose Mendoza. WSX added three more runs in the third inning to extend the lead to eight runs and create an almost insurmountable lead. Juarlin Soto started to chip away at the lead with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning, scoring Esmeiquel Arrieche. After giving up another two runs in the fourth, BJB added a run to their total with Elian Reyes’ single to right field, which scored Rafael Flores. The scoring would go stagnant until the bottom of the ninth inning, when Soto hit another RBI single and Franklin Rojas added a sacrifice fly. BJB wouldn't get anything else though, dropping the game 10-4. Juarlin Soto: 2-5, 2 RBI, 1 K Geremy Barroso: 3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K DSL Blue Jays Red D-BJR (6), D-MRN (3) - 7/21 Box Score BJR faced off against MRN down on the island Monday morning. They got some big performances in route to their win. The first runs of the game were scored by BJR in the top of the fifth. Kennew Blanco singled home Keegan Pieternella and two more would score later in the inning on an error by MRN. After Dawel Joseph tied the game at three in the seventh with a home run, BJB took control of the game in the eighth. Luis Felipe's RBI single started the scoring in the inning and Juan Sanchez's two-RBI double capped it off. It was only fitting that BJB came away with the win, as Luis Fonseca twirled a gem, going four innings, not giving up a run and striking out nine. BJB rolled to a 6-3 win.
