    Did it at the beginning of the year when the odds were Smoak would be a platoon player or replaced by 1 of many players. So the projected HR totals were less than Martin and Tulo so worth more pts

    Correct, but the umpire didn't make a bad call imo. It looked a lot like what Reyes used to do, except he actually dropped it where I don't think Reyes ever did. He basically caught it and tried a stupidly quick transfer that is essentially still part of the catch.
