  1. Pretty much all cable tv or satellite in Canada is a ripoff for the programming you get. I'm with shaw Direct satellite in Lethbridge alberta. Like 1 step up from the basic package and it's over 100 per month. 2 years ago the top end package was the same As I am payng now for the second worst package. And every 2-3 months it goes up by another 2-3 per month. It's ridiculous.
  2. Yeah I don't get that firing, unless there's something behind the scenes that we aren't aware of. Luhnow couldn't seriously have expected a competitive year with his roster, so there no way he can hang the w/l record on Porter. Maybe they just don't believe he's the right guy for the young team.
  3. I don't see how both Sanchez and Norris can be on the rotation with innings limits that would be in the 160-170 range if the Jays FO are still expecting to be contending. They could probably get away with 1 of them and skipping the odd start to try and keep the innings down, but wasting them in a pen role when they need to be building innings would be hilariously stupid.
  4. Mayberry in Cf would be an abomination. In case of emergency ... Yeah, but he's a corner OF/1b
  5. Yes, Morrow is on the 60 day DL. No, Pierre wasn't on the 40 man and the was room to add Mayberry without creating space. Right now they're at 39 on the 40 man so even activating Morrow would be fine without having to DFA anyone. Izturis being on the 60-day creates that extra space
  6. Yes, any player on the mlb roster can play in the afl as long as they have less than 1 year of service time as of Sept 1
  7. I have no issue with it really, it's just odd to bring him up when he's only going to get maybe 10 innings max over 4 weeks.
  8. The Mayberry acquisition pretty much puts the kibosh on Pompey joining. That many OF he'd only be pinch running sparingly. May as well just send him to the AFL and add him in the offseason. No harm
  9. We're calling up FO personal from Minnesota? Cool
  10. 3 or 4 starts is basically meaningless. He has been dominant in 3 of 4 starts at the highest level of the minors. Let's see him do that for 3-4 months before any real judgments on his "dominance" are made.
  11. Meh. It was built nearly 30 years ago. I'm sure old Yankee stadium wasn't exactly a prime example of modernization either.
  12. I no longer see the point of Norris coming up for 6-8 innings of relief. Assuming he spends time in the minors next year, they'd be burning an option year that that wouldn't have to if they just shut him down this year and don't add him yo the 40 man roster until he was ready for a full season or mandated by his 5 years of minor league service or be exposed to the rule 5 draft. I'd be happy with a September call up next year at the earliest unless he blows the IL up next year.

  14. That's a f***load of guys. They usually bring up a third catcher, a couple of pen arms and a couple position players but not 10 guys. Gose, Jiminez, Pompey, Goins for position players, and I would guess Jenkins, Rasmussen and Drabek for the pen. Maybe Nolin instead of Drabek if they want another lefty. They might elect not to bring Pompey up and instead send him to the Arizona fall league. They might not want to bring a kid like him up just to sit around for September playing maybe once a week and pinch running occasionally.
  15. If Norris does come up he'll be in the pen. They wee going to put him in the pen prior to his last start but since they're still in the thick of the WC race they had him start. He's practically at his innings limit already with 122.2 and if I remember correctly they didnt want to go past 130 max.
  16. They have to add him to the 40 man in the offseason anyways so no harm to do it early since September call ups don't burn options.
  17. Elimination number for the wildcard is 1.
  18. Yeah but how do you pick a guy hitting a he 5 games in a row... The odds of that are pretty ridiculous. Melky was a panic pick for me like 10 minutes before the game started. Was going to take Edwin, but he seems like his timing has been really off since that game where he hit everything to the track.
  19. Sure, but look who was up. Valencia who has horrible numbers against RHP, then Pillar who just has horrible numbers all around, and then Reyes with 2 out.
  20. Yes, he absolutely should be. No reason to put a kid in the pen unless he's failed as a starter, which he hasn't yet.
  21. As a starter though, you certainly want command because he won't be throwing 98 all game long. Yes, throwing 98 with movement will be enough to get guys out in 1-2 innings as a potentially great reliever, but to succeed as a starter he'll have to go through the lineup 3 times minimum and guys will be able to lay off once they see his stuff a few times if he doesn't have good command. But then, that's where his secondary pitches have to come into play also.
  22. Control just means you can hit the strike zone but not quality strikes consistently on the edges and exactly where you want it, which is command. So if you have commad, by definition you have control, but you can have control without command.
  23. Woot, Jose homered agin! I'm on the board...
