Tim Kurkjian of ESPN says a deal is very close on Price with the Jays. Hard to really take it at face value, when was the last time AA did any deal that was even hinted at prior to getting done? But if true, gotta think Norris and Alford for sure are gone.

Cardinals just signed a 1 billion dollar/15 year TV deal which will start them at 55 million dollars per season that will increase as the deal goes on, plus a minority stake in the network with the broadcast rights. Better give them more competitive balance picks, they're clearly hard up for revenue and won't be able to compete on a fair playing field with the larger spending teams.

That's the worst part about the deadline for fans like us. We want to know exactly what cincinatti was demanding and what AA was offering. Obviously when a return like this happens and u can clearly see the Jays could have topped it, the unknown makes u crazy. If jocketty didn't budge off Stroman, then of course u don't do that deal.

Soccer doesn't have 7 levels of minor league talent that kids have togo through to develop. It makes sense to give GM'S 5+ years to see how they work unless they do egregiously baffling s*** *cough** davestewart** cough**

Agree with the offense problems, but the defense was better than fine. Rookie mistakes happen. Pillar has made more than his share of bone head decisions on defense too. And no im not saying Pillar is worse than Pompey. Just that the kinds of mistakes Pompey was making are easily correctable and his overall defense game is just fine for CF

I'm in the disapprove camp, though admittedly the needle has swung from strongly approve to disapprove over the past 3 seasons. The brilliant trade to unload wells was the high water mark for me. Then it started to go backwards 24 hours later when he traded Napoli for a bad closer. Right there it started to become apparantthat his player valuation system was flawed. He did well to exploit the comp picks before mlb closed that loophole. But then he traded for overpriced talent and gave away way too much for a f***ing 37 year knuckleballer because he'd won a Cy Young....and the Florida trade was further proof that his valuations were suspect. He completely ignored the free agent market when it could help the club. Starting pitching has been the biggest need for 3 years and there's been nothing done about it except trying to catch lightning in a bottle year after year for rotations spots 4 through 8, when he should have been focusing on improving spots 1 through 3. Too many spots in the past 3 years have gone to replacement level or lower players when they're supposedly trying to contend. From year 3 on, it's been basically knowing what needs to be done, but never getting it done. Theres been good moves since then, Ala Donaldosn, Martin and Travis. But complete failure in addressing the teams pitching needs is once again the anchor weighing down the team. For me, if he doesn't swing something before deadline that improves the teams pitching in a meaningful way, it's probably time to cut ties.

Probab,y a good idea for Navarro to call a bunch of breaking balls early then. That way Hutch can fall behind early and get that pitch count up.

Meh, estrada and Navarro are both very replacable. The fact bth are currently starter's on a club with aspirations of contention is laughable. Recent events do not change that
