  1. I'm not advocating a blow up. That simply can't happen in thus market or nobody would go to games and a rogers would lose a big chunk of their cash cow for years. Just saying that an effective re-tool might be slowed with a winning streak that would mask this teams very obvious deficiencies for the long term outlook of success. They will not win a WS as they are now and they are only getting older and worse. There's no way they're trading youth now for rentals or even aging players under control, so extra wins here and there only hurt the retool. It's incredibly hard to build a team through the draft if you're always drafting 20th or lower every year and not trading aging players for younger prospects - unless you're willing to spend money to fix holes. Chicago and Houston went full blowup and are reaping the benefits. The Yankees on the other hand retooled very effectively in short order and will be reaping the benefits very soon. Big advantage because of their willingness to spend. The Jays need to follow the Yankees model this time.
  2. I don't think theyre projecting Vlad as a 40 HR guy though. I think they're projecting him more of a 30 HR 40 doubles ceiling - which is still very jizz worthy. He doesn't have the mind boggling power of Judge or Sano, but he won't have all the Ks which will really pump those doubles out.
  3. You hit on the head. It's possible to succeed with a high K rate, as long as you still hit for power and get on base. Lose pretty much either 1 of the other 2 (especially power) and you're f***ed.
  4. I really don't know how I would feel of the Jays went on like a 8-10 game winning streak right now. I would be happy they're winning obviously because it sucks watching losing baseball. ... but just knowing that would f*** up any chances of jettisoning the guys that need to be punted for the betterment of the long term outlook would make me unhappy at the same time. It's weird, but I'm kinda hoping for losing baseball from here on out for the sake of my sanity. Not like 110 loss losing baseball, just... right where they are would be fine. .500 or slightly under.
  5. I hashed this out in another thread already. The Chapman and Miller deals netted a top 30 prospect (both Torres and Frazier were like... 27 or 29 ranked at the time of the trades) and some filler. Miller was still under control and Chapman was ultimately resigned. And those 2 are the best 2 relievers in baseball. No team (I think) would trade a top 10 prospect for a reliever, regardless of who the reliever is.
  6. They only full game replays I've seen is if the Jays play a day game, they might show it again in the evening but I don't think they do it for every day game. I know they did this with the Yankees day game this week. I have seen full game replays as well the next day after a night game, but only if the Jays were off on the following day. Again, it doesn't happen every time so it's probably just here and there when they need to fill time with something other than darts.
  7. Vlad Jr goes deep in his 1st AB, I guarantee it
  8. I didn't say what kind of school did I?
  9. Happ for Happ? Would FAP to that
  10. Nah, Hurl still has that weird "can't be within 200 feet of schools" thing....
  11. Of course you ask. But trading Robles for any reliever would be nutty. Soto+ some other mid pieces would probably be where they'd end up
  12. LMAO Can't be real, but it really wouldn't supris me if it was. The comments are pretty sweet
  13. Agree from a pure value standpoint, but I would be willing to bet a decent chunk of money if Cashman got offered Trout for Judge... he would be on the next plane to New York before the phone hung up. Then he would extend him and sign Harper.... and the Yankees would win the universe. Viagra and Cialis wouldn't be needed in New York for anyone in the next 10 years, because every male Yankees fan would have a permanent erection. Let's also remember Trout was having a better season than Judge is currently having before his injury, and plays CF.
  14. I can promise you that's not the case. There's not a player in baseball right now that wouldn't be traded for Trout 1 for 1. You know Trout is only 1 year older than Judge? I'm sure from a pure value vs contract perpective there are a few guys that could be argued give more suplus value... but I'd be really interested to see what the Dodgers would say if the Angels called up and asked for Bellinger. Or maybe Boston might turn down Sale for Trout given their situation... but in a vacuum,.. Trout doesn't go 1 for 1 for anyone else in the game right now.
  15. Warmoth debuted for the GCL Jays today. 2 for 3 with a SB, then lifted. Future reliever Taylor Cole also finally started his rehab assignment there today
  16. Yeah, I guess it depends. Tepera gives up a lot of hard contact, whereas Barnes doesn't. Barnes walks fewer, strikes out more (not massive differences between the 2 guys, but it's there. Barnes gives up more fly balls, but the quality of contact is worse overall leading to a lower babip. Tepera gives up rockets, but so far... very low hr per fb and a low babip. Might need more time to see if they separate from each other
  17. Naw, they'll just wait a year and sign Machado when all it costs is cash and 1 pick
  18. Think Gibby is starting to clue in that Barnes is a better reliever than Tepera yet?
  19. Nah, that was the game I was at laat Thursday with Happ on the mound. Was a close game. It was Boston that throttled them 15-1
  20. Flip the script. If the Jays were in Washingtons position and needed a closer to help cement a playoff run. Would you want to trade Vlad Guerrero or Bo (assuming both are 19 and 20 and in High A and both are ranked top 10-15 in baseball consensus) ... for .. say...Chris Devenski? .... Corey Knebel?
  21. f*** Jeter with a 40 ounce bat... Judge and Syndergaard get my votes
  22. True but Chapman isn't just elite, Miller isn't just elite, they're basically the best of the best of the best and have been for years. Jansen and Betances probably round out the top tier of relievers over the past 3 seasons that Osuna has been around. The Chapman and Miller trades both netted a top 30ish prospect and some throw ins. I don't think Washington would then find it agreeable to trade a top 10 prospect who they're probably counting in to fill part of Harpers shoes if he leaves, for more of a package that arguably the best 2 relievers in the game went for.... even if he's under control for three more seasons after this one. His arbitration deals will actually cost them money because he's got dem savez! Chapman was a rental they resigned,, but Miller was under control.
  23. I'm in such a rut right now. I can't pick pitchers or offense this year at all.
  24. Washington would be stupid to trade Robles for Osuna
