  1. Gotta think if I’m a billionaire that just took over the NY laughing stock Mets, Bauer would be a great splash
  2. Why put a ? for #1 SP, may as well put “Bauer or bust”
  3. It’ll be interesting what Semien gets. He’s been league average at best with the bat all but one season. His defense numbers only jumped off the page recently but he’s not a spring chicken. Does he take a 1 year deal to build value or take what he can get on multi-year deal. If he underperforms again he’ll prob never see another big payday again. Guys like Didi and LaStella are much less costly/risky. LaStella at least showed 2 years ago wasn’t fluke. Didi made it seem like his bad season was an outlier. Not sure what happens if Didi signed though, position wise for Jays I mean
  4. I think there will some real opportunity on mediocre SP. Normally it’s $10-12m/yr for backend depth. Teams have to have the stomach for loss last year and possible loss next year though. Not sure that’s the Jays but hope so
  5. Says the guy who was in favor of picking up CA’s option even late in the season lol. Depends what JBJ’s contact is for I guess. If it’s for subpar bat, glove first CF like the 3 years prior to this short season, sure-maybe. Don’t most CF see their D drop off post-30? But if Jays aren’t loading up, there’s a lot of middle rotation guys that I’d rather look at.
  6. I don’t get the JBJ love. On a team with seemingly limited resources to spend, it’s kind of tough to swallow RG’s salary as a 4th OF to add someone marginally better. Seems adding SP or something would be smarter. Now if you get Springer, makes more sense
  7. Actually can you trade a guy that’s on an upcoming option, or is it just about getting out of the buyout?
  8. Blah. I didn’t copy you
  9. You don’t know Tampa shopped him. Guy like that may not be after whoever the highest bidder is and therefore Tampa may have a shot to retain him in the end. If that’s a possibility, that’s prob more valuable than doing him dirty and trading him for no-shot prospects

    NFL Thread

The eternal Brady/Beli debate starting to take shape. Though in fairness Brady has a stacked team around him
  11. You know player agents are going to be digging in talking about vaccine is here blah blah. Good players will get paid. We’ll see
  12. Yeah, I don’t see teams like the Yankees not doing what they need to do. Covid isn’t here forever, light can be seen at end of the tunnel by everyone’s accounts, it’s just a matter of how much it effects next season but beyond that things should be normal. Granted “normal” may be different but adding 1 of 2 FA here and there isn’t going to drastically alter your team financially. I would pass on JT (generally speaking) for the record but everyone else should be in play If a team is about building a brand and winning WS, which is best way to get all your fan base engaged/back, I don’t think they get scared off. On the other hand, I think the teams like Toronto that are bottom-line first, will be hesitant to add payroll. Hopefully I’m wrong
  13. I wonder if Joe Torre’s phone will start ringing lol. Sports is a copycat business
  14. I don’t believe there was anything wrong swinging 3-0 but I don’t think it’s outrageous someone is against it. There are unwritten rules in sports that we’re coached from time we’re kids. In baseball you get shut down from stealing bases when you’re up 9 late, in basketball you aren’t jacking up threes up 30 in the 4th, or throwing bombs up 30 in the 4th NFL. I guess for new age kids that never played sports that’s harder to grasp.. But I think having to not swing at a pitch because you’re up is taking it too far.
  15. Bauer is a little tough to predict as it’s unsure what he’s looking for. But Springer maybe an estimate would’ve been 6/150? I think aav won’t change, he’d get 5/125 all day I think. If he doesn’t get 6/150 I don’t think it’ll be far off. Like you said, we’ll see.
  16. 3 rings lol. Vetern presenz. Knows how to win
  17. The glut of middle rotation starters especially won’t see what they normally would I don’t think
  18. I think the few high-end guys will get paid what they should. There aren’t many, so supply/demand and if you balk, your rival may not. You have to know you’ll take a hit in at least year 1. I don’t think it’ll be a good year for the players other than the very few stars
  19. Curious if he’d go to Anderson in a hypothetical Game 9, similar situation
  20. Yeah it comes off to me as a stubbornness “we’re going to keep doing what got us here no matter what” instead of “we’re going to do whatever gives us the best chance to win”. I can get on board with bucking traditionalism if it’s the latter but really feels like the former
  21. I can dig this much more than BTS response. Good save
  22. There’s nobody wrong on the Snell thing. There’s clearly two legit sides to it. Giving Anderson the call is the biggest issue. Tampa can say how good he was in the last year + but they also ignored very relevant recent data that suggested the probability of success wouldn’t be the same. The latter makes them come off as stuck in their ways, almost like the opposite- someone stuck in their anti-sabr ways
  23. Ignorance is bliss I guess. It was politically charged. Although name calling isn’t allowed, politically charged posts were eliminated because that’s the type of response they solicited. L54 could’ve found a more articulate way to call him out though, sure
  24. Ah they got rid of the exchange lol
  25. Re-read your post and man up. Classic bait job. You offered up an opinionated, woke take on the Covid situation and someone with a differing opinion called you out on it. He could of called you a “drama queen” instead but in either case, you basically solicited the response. It’s like if Trump was in sports news somehow and somehow you let it be known how horrible he is, and then someone responded that didn’t agree.
