  1. didnt see it elsewhere, but Wilson is throwing a knuckle now, should we collect him as well? http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/brian-wilson-is-throwing-a-knuckleball-now--because-of-course-he-is-222220277.html
  2. wow, am i glad we dont have a payroll anchor like Howard on this team. 25m a year for him, boy did he bottom out.
  3. stockpiling the throw-aways . So this is our second most exciting move of the off season?
  4. Oh I agree it is off, but everyone ranks them differently, and I try to not only listen to one source. I would rather see all of them and then take what I want from them. I do agree with some of the rankings though.
  5. http://www.baseballamerica.com/majors/a-simple-accounting-of-farm-system-impact-potential/ I was just reviewing this last week. This is from October, not sure how much has changed over all due to minor league signings, but I am not aware of any major movings. This has Houston as number 2 instead of number 1. Surprised it has us listed as high as 11.
  6. ugh. wtf does it have to be our division....my only hope now is this turns into another Daisuke waste of money.
  7. wow, sox are in all-out-win mode it seems. Back to the same tough ALEast division of old. After the last few years I wouldnt even try to guess standings this year.
  8. thanks for that intriguing reply, and adding something to the thread. and the fact that you replied, shows who is "dumn" I said, sorry if posted elsewhere. carry on
  9. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/blue-jays-sign-dan-johnson.html maybe the end of lind? sorry if posted elsewhere
  10. I agree about Scioscia, but wow, gibbons looks like he needs a kick every few pitches to keep his eyes open. He doesnt look like he cares one bit about any of this anymore. Even Butter is clapping and jumping when he is standing in the dugout. I HATE boston but Gib wouldnt last two seconds there. Look the damn part. Remember yunel that lazy ass(who didn't run out his double play last night either), and Rios. They looked lazy, and still do, and we all bitched about it. I would rather have someone who tried, or FFS look like that even give one s*** about their team. When Fer was here, he didn't jump up and down, but he looked like he was at least paying attention. Sorry for this thread derail. The direction of this team boggles the mind.
  11. not sure why you think I am Olerud363, I am not. I just don't post often, but when s*** like this comes raining down (the absurdity firing) i just throw my arms up and wonder what is coming next? maybe a nice contract extension for JP Istrikeoutalot.
  12. If this was in reply to me, I guess my rage over everything leads me to my dislike of gibs. I never used to be this way, he seemed to be a down-to-earth players coach. But as you watch other teams and other coaches, Gibbons watches the game unfold in front of him while someone like Maddon helps direct the game and control things. If a player isnt playing well, not much a coach can do, but gibbons just seems to have fallen asleep since he came back. I think he thought he was walking right into a playoff race, hell we all did, and then got the wind knocked out of him with what happened.
  13. I wholeheartedly agree with this, it should be butter in there, not gibbons. I am searching for a reason to come back to this team, and it is thin. I simply can not justify(even if I was a homer) that there could be any way jp is back in any other capacity other than catching depth. I guess they can try to say it was injury, but this is not the first year he has sucked. If your team is close to competing, why are they burning specialty coches. Gibbons does f***all on the bench every single night. Watch one game with Maddon, and you will see someone up on the rail, watching every play with his lineup cards in hand. He is a tactician. Gibbons sits his ass in the corner and hopes rainbows come out of the sky to blind the other team. IMO this team IS close to competing, a few tweaks, and few pieces, and someone at the reigns who can direct them.
  14. As someone who was at the Detroit game last night to watch Rios pummel the tigers, Rios still looks lazy as hell, and he is their "best" player. As someone who went to see Verlander destroy the sox, it was a double slap in the face to see lazy ass rios do so well.
  15. I agree, the bullpen has been very good this whole season, aside for a few hiccups. Makes sense though, bats have been decent, and starting pitching has stunk, we always miss out on one of the variables.
  16. meh, he can be over the top, but i dont have a problem with him. He obviously has seen more action than many players and obviously much more than any of us. He is opinionated and and does make calls that I dont always agree with. In short, he is the not the fan boy i was once afraid he was going to be. And after the last year, in which he raged more than a few times over the garbage team we put out, he is still the same commentator, and I like that better than being spoon fed rainbows. I like Zaun.
  17. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/two-grand-slams-two-innings-marlins-prospect-jake-165553768.html I miss Jake, wouldnt have minded seeing him suit up for the Jays.
  18. I agree that you always hope for the best with an injury, but you probably shouldn't spout things until you know for sure. Geez, especially with how bad that looked when it happened. Your body just aint supposed to bend that way.
  19. I dont mind Kaw at 2nd base. If the bats we do have are hitting where they are supposed to, and with Reyes back, we should be able to "afford" a light hitting 2nd. If we had a decent option at 2nd base then for sure I would prefer to keep Kaw on the bench. Our bench options are ridiculous. Would be great to have a utility player like him to come off the bench and at least one bat off the bench(not a great option but I wish we would have gotten Dunn for a bench bat-no flames please)
  20. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-set-to-place-lawrie-on-disabled-list/ didnt see it posted earlier. Man, what a rough year for injuries, one step forward, 5 steps back, then stomped on.
  21. wow, we are going to turn into the yankees(without the wins) very fast at this rate. A bunch of medium to large contracts for players that no-longer, or never did, help us at all. It is a crap shoot whenever you offer any contract, but with decent scouting you would think that we would be on the good end of the hammer once in a while. I think our vision was clouded with Reyes, and now that he is gone, we are left with bloat and seemingly no way to salvage the season. Damn, i hope this doesnt turn into a fire sale....I would like to see if JJ can come around.
  22. frightens me, this "going all in" could cripple this team for a few years if they dont step it up.
  23. man, would love to see Buehrle earn even 1/2 of his paycheck tonight
