  1. I took this off the old board, posted by a Yankee fan.
  2. Probably in response to zaun who said the Jays always start to lose when Hayhurst shows up. And he was right about that
  3. I never take anything personally on a mlb message board. But Pete Rose in his first two years had approx. 1200 PA with an average of 270. Lawrie has had approx. 700 PA with a BA of .266. So pretty comparable. Lawrie will be an all star one of these days, when he learns that he doesn't need to kill himself to catch the ball.
  4. Did you ever see Rose play? Same aggressive, no holds barred play. Same over the top, almost angry desire to win.
  5. I will be surprised if there is much done before the end of the season. Selig can not suspend players without appeals. Plus Melky has already served his punishment. Unless, it is proved that he is involved in another case, I doubt the mlbpa would allow him to be punished again for the same thing
  6. It constantly amazes me, how many short sighted people post on these message boards. Posters were screaming that he was being held down in the minors. Then he was finally brought up after an injury, and the second coming had arrived. He played way over his head, and then he is expected to post the same numbers in his second season. He suffers a severe injury because he is young and plays like most fans want him to play. He finally gets back on the field to start the season, probably before he was completely well, and all of a sudden, he is struggling and people hate him. He has proven himself to be a terrific defender at 3rd and his hitting will come around. But posters hate him, they hate his attitude, and for that reason, he should be gone? Lots of people HATED Pete Rose. Hated his attitude, his cockiness, his swagger. But give me a player like that any day. I am not saying Lawrie is ever going to be Pete Rose. But I would take 20 Lawrie's over a De Rosa anyday of the week.
  7. Isn't it great to see all the seats filled with noisy, cheering fans.
  8. it starts with 'c'. I don't say much because I know that young guys use the f bomb like a preposition, but that is a disgusting word for a woman.
  9. come on guys there are women that read this site. Please don't use that word.
  10. Phone through to the ticket office, ask to speak to a manager and explain your situation. Might help.
  11. zaun was on pts and was very critical of JPA. Said he was better in AA. complete turn around. Did say that the Jays do not have a catching coach and that JP should have had one this year.
  12. First timer, so I think I will join the fun. I will go with Lind.
  13. Well that sucks. Remind them of that when you get your next phone.
  14. Doesn't Rogers have a new App now for their customers that shows all the Jays games?
  15. TJ Quinn (wrote the book about steroids and bonds), was on XM yesterday. Said that this is all driven by Selig. Said they were so angry when Braun got off, he fired the arbitrator of 30 years, hired someone that he wanted, and ordered him to go after Braun, the clinic and everyone mentioned. Doesn't want his legacy tarnished. According to him, this is about the appearance of cleaning up the game, and if nothing comes of it, Selig won't care. He tried.
  16. The problem with this latest mess, is that it comes across as some kind of witch hunt because Braun beat them last time. To me if mlb is serious about a completely clean game (which they will never get), they should be testing to olympic standards. If not, they should continue on their current path. But more important to me, is not whether they catch someone that is cheating. But that they don't catch someone who made an honest mistake and took a cold medicine with something in it.
  17. You don't think injuries have anything to do with their current record???
  18. This team has not started there starting line up once. They have used 27 different pitchers. Their infield has been a constant pieced together mess, with players that never get a chance to play together to gain experience, due to injuries. There, I defended this team.
  19. Melky already fessed up and and has served his suspension. According to a lawyer just on Sirius, they can not suspend him again. Lawyer is highly doubtful that other than the names being out there, that suspensions will hold up in court. Firstly, Bosch is receiving financial support for talking, and that never goes over very well. Secondly, names may be in the records, but MLB has no proof that the players took it. Someone on the list (can't remember which player) is linked because someone in his financial office was named. Said that MLB is pursuing this for appearances. FWIW
