I feel like expecting the manager to sit down and understand the math for every potential tie-breaker scenario is unrealistic, IMO. Now he should have been able to have a quick glance at the standings and notice hey, we could end up with a 3-way tie, and then inquire with someone else. And to cap this off, I bet you none of the other managers understand any of this s*** either.

He’s getting ragged on hard for this, but I don’t think he’s alone in not understanding these tie breakers lol. They should have a dedicated nerd to relay this info to the coaches, shouldn’t be the manager’s responsibility IMO. And clearly that didn’t happen here. But also, it would be tough for USA to win 3 games and still get knocked out. Being expected to win all 4 to advance is kinda crazy

Mexico would probably rather have US advance and hopefully play them again for a chance at revenge. Feel like the likeliest scenario here is Mexico leading most of the game, and they end up scoring a couple runs late to push the score to 7-2 or something
