His strikeout rate dropped dramatically to 17.9 percent, but so did his walk rate (5.2 percent), wOBA (.295), ISO (.126), and wRC+ (90). From here we know the rest of the story. Montero struck out more, walked less, and never hit for power or average at the major league level.
