Earned runs are a team stat, Estrada gives up a lot of flyballs while not being exceptionally good at striking guys out and is currently walking more guys than he ever has. What you're seeing is a mirage. I'd love to say he'll be some kind of revelation but there is nothing to indicate that being the case. Just don't get too attached.

More likely, he's a benefit of a bit of luck on his balls in play and that more of his flyballs haven't left the yard. This year is not a large sample. He might be slightly better than Doubront but not by much.

Not sure if I would. Pillar looks like he could be a sustainable 3 WAR player going forward as long as he has speed. What are the odds Hoffman/Norris will be able to say the same? He doesn't really need to be a good hitter to be valuable.

Hoffman has the skill to miss bats already, why try to focus on acquiring a skill that hardly any pitcher is capable of? It doesn't make sense. Kiley's observations are disturbing and I'd really love to dismiss them but Aaron Sanchez exists. Who knows what this org values in pitchers.
