There's decent depth in the system but the issue is there are no impact guys on the horizon. I'd rather have a Seager/Suxton/Lindor + piles of crap than what we have currently.

Well, we can hope that the RC plays to Morales' strength where Kauffman didn't and maybe he will blow past his projections. I'm less pissed off with them signing Morales and more about them signing Smoak when there was absolutely no need to. Even if you think he's going to break out or something, no one is going to pay him out the ass for half a season of good play vs. a whole career of shittiness. Now, Gibby talks about platooning Pearce who is both a much better hitter vs. righties and a superior fielder simply because Smoak is still on the team. I mean, 2 smoaks + Morales make more than EE for pretty much the same number of years. It's retarded.

I think it's easy to look at steamer and say "the Jays should do this and that" but if Shatkins and co. are seeing a big drop off coming for Edwin, why commit that money to him? I'm gonna give them a little leeway here. I have been an Edwin fan since before it was cool, and I'm sad to see him go. Being said, I wouldn't want to be locked in to a sub 2 WAR player for 4 years. Shatkins have made a perplexing decision already with the Smoak deal but they've been excellent outside of that. They've invested in their high performance department. I'm confident that they have enough information to make a move that is best for the team.

Doesn't mean they know jack s*** about baseball. Frankly, Shatkins have been an absolute blessing to this org and I can only think of one move they've made that I absolutely hated (Smoak). If the season ticket holders boo these guys, they are just morons with money. -

If Gibby resists the urge to be a retard and plays Pearce every day instead of platooning with Smoak, I'd wager that Pearce alone puts up more WAR than Edwin.
