    Lol @ the Patriots
  2. And yet they are below the national average for fatalities.

At that price, nty. 12-13, sure but that price tag was too high. I just don't get why there was this song and dance about wanting to play for a contender and then he ends up signing with the freaking Cardinals. Also, any sour grapes more has to do with the fact that I keep seeing these and it hurts my soul:

JJ Watt to the Cardinals. Who saw that coming! 31/2 with 23 million guaranteed. I guess playing for a contender wasn't a priority after all. Also, please don't @ me with "the Cardinals are a contender" because they aren't. They are probably the 4th best team in their own division, assuming the Niners are healthy.

Holy s***, I knew Russell Wilson was a basic bitch, one of the most boring personalities in the NFL but I did not know he was an egotistical prima donna. Boo hoo, I want a trade from my team that just won the NFC West where I have possibly the best WR duo in the game. I hope he ends up on the Jets.
  6. I guess it makes sense when you don't have a history of being a FA destination like the Padres. That's still so much risk, though. And, for as big of a f up as AJ Preller is, I greatly respect his attitude towards his players. He doesn't tend to game the system to extend years of control or worry about super two. If you're good enough to be on the team, you're on the team, full stop. It's not smart from a business perspective but if we are ever going to have a paradigm shift within MLB offices, it starts with guys like Preller throwing the general practices in the trash.
  7. Yeah this deal seems like the high end of what he'd make in FA anyway. I really don't understand it. I understand locking up young stars, but usually there's something in it for the team.

Tom Brady was a 6th round pick. Michigan tried to replace him several times, even when he was the established starter. He became the starter in HS because the current starter stopped playing football. His measurables at the combine before he was drafted were among the worst of any potential draftee. The Patriots nearly cut him before opting to keep him on as the 4th string QB. Despite all of this, of all the Superbowls to exist, Tom Brady has been the starting QB in 18% of them. In any given year, the chances of Tom Brady being in the SB is better than the chance any given Steph Curry 3 pointer will go in the bucket. The Bucs hadn't made the playoffs since 2007 and Brady both brought them to the playoffs with a magical late season run and then beat one of the most dominant teams in NFL history in a blowout to win the first SB for a team playing for it in their home stadium in the first instance of it happening. At 43 years old. He was still a borderline top 5 QB while Ben Roethlisberger and Drew Brees can barely throw the ball ten yards. When doing cross comparisons, what are sports but a series of narratives? I think in the context of all of the above, Tom Brady is the GOAT of all North American sports. I see the statistical argument for Gretzky but I really think Lemieux would have been right there with him if not for health issues.

I mean like you'll have your occasional Tractorcito or LaDanian Tomlinson who are just great no matter what (Patrick Roy, Dominik Hasek) but the vast majority fluctuate between good and bad depending on how good the OLine is at run blocking.

I was pretty convinced he was going to the Bears. Not sure how he's an upgrade on Trubisky, but there was a lot of smoke for awhile and then it just died off.

Soooooooooo Wentz gets dealt to Indy. Gotta say, given his contract and that he's terrible, I'm not sure why there was a market for him to begin with. Colts gave up a third this year and a conditional second that could turn into a first. Seems like a lot. I'm happy, though, makes the Colts less of a threat in the AFC.
  13. How much more positional flexibility does this team need? Gurriel defied odds and became a good OF. His arm is of use there. I don't know why we would ever put him at third while we have Bichette, Panik, Semien, Biggio and even Vlad.
  14. I did a rough estimation, as I'm bad at math, but I deduced that Tatis would likely make a bit over 50 million in his next 5 years of team control that are being waived in lieu of this contract. So, essentially, this can be viewed as an approx 9/290 ish contract, amounting to a bit over 30 million per year. Seems unnecessary. I just want to point out that this, imo, doesn't make the Acuna contract bad, this contract is horribly one sided. You make a deal like this to trade risk on a long term deal for potential savings. Unless they are expecting the next Alex Rodriguez here, I don't really see much upside financially for San Diego. Dumb contract from a dumb team.
  15. That has to be a top 5 TPB episode
  16. I did too until I had to watch Jonathan Villar play baseball. It puts things in perspective.
  17. If there's no fallout from the Superbowl (I predict there won't be much of one) it should open up other spots to allowing more fans.

Honey Badger claiming Brady said something to him that he won't repeat. Yeah that Tom Brady. The one basically keeping Antonio Brown employed. The one who has played with black guys his entire career. I really hate the Chiefs.
  20. Ok, well, going by Steamer projections then. Grichuk @ 1 WAR, Ozuna over 3.
  21. Yeah, I could understand Yankee fans pulling that argument. Mets fans, though? I mean, the whole premise that this even matters a tiny bit is wrong so who really cares I guess
  22. The argument, apparently, is that they all leave by the 7th inning
  23. That's great and all, but you kinda need to hit on some of those picks to give that strategy any credibility. AA hit on, from what I can recall, two guys in the first round in Syndergaard (comp pick? Think that counts as first round) who he traded with a kicker for the corpse of RA Dickey and Marcus Stroman, the overrated midget douchebag.
  24. As an avowed Bauer fanboy, I'll say that I think his goal was to be transparent and engaging. His explanation of events is far from implausible. Personally, I don't know why he had to have all his marketing stuff ready to go from the second he signed but I suspect he's on the spectrum and very particular about how things need to be done. The reaction from Mets fans has been to mock Bauer's choice by laughing at Dodger stadium attendance...which is by far the highest in the entire league. Interesting strategy to say the least.
