  1. Jaypers413 (IL) What does Kendall Gravement project as to you? Reaction to his season? Klaw (1:42 PM) Probably a fifth starter too. Stuff is pretty ordinary. Low K rates at every level; high GB rates but his fastball doesn't have great sink. Getting overrated by stat-line scouting, in part because he was an SEC product who started at low-A (for which he was too experienced).
  2. Keith Law doesn't like the aggressive promotions Joe (Toronto) Thoughts on Daniel Norris' promotion to Triple A? Klaw (1:07 PM) They're rushing prospects to AAA for reasons I don't fully understand (or that I do understand and with which I disagree). Letting a guy go around a league twice has real value. Neither Norris nor Pompey got that in New Hampshire.
  3. Well they are being aggressive, imagine a Roberto Osuna next year. Could be in the majors
  4. Here is the problem though, if Jacob Gatewood becomes a bust people will say they shouldn't have drafted him 41st overall. There is no winning. Hindsight has people acting like Deck McGuire was a reach or too safe when the mocks had him there.
  5. Richard Urena to Vancouver, Rowdy Tellez to Lansing
  6. Orgfiller wants to know how many swinging strikes he had?
  7. Are you guys gonna let this ******** fly? Provide proof they've drafted poorly or shut up.
  8. He's pretty high on Lugo, Jonny Peralta comp haha
  9. http://www.canadianbaseballnetwork.com/articles/nays-bat-shows-promise-prospect-rankings/ Marc Hulet and Bob Elliot Weekly Prospects rankings: In our weekly look at the Blue Jays farm system, Marc Hulet, prospect writer at FanGraphs and its fantasy affiliate RotoGraphs, since 2008, takes a look at this week’s 10 best: 1. LHP Daniel Norris, Buffalo Aaron Sanchez could soon have some company in Toronto with this young southpaw on the fast track. The recently-promoted Norris struck out 10 batters over six innings in his first Triple-A start. 2. CF Dalton Pompey, New Hampshire (DL) Currently on the disabled list, Pompey is another prospect that has been pushed more aggressively through the minor league system in 2014. The Mississauga native could take over the Jays’ centre-field gig as early as mid-2015. 3. SS Franklin Barreto, Vancouver Just 18, Barreto is eighth in batting average and sixth in OPS (On base Plus Slugging) in the Northwest League, where the average age of a hitter is 21 (according to Baseball-Reference). He’s a monster with the bat but is likely to eventually move off shortstop — and possibly into the outfield. 4. RHP Jeff Hoffman, Injured Tommy John surgery will keep this 2014 first round draft pick shelved until the 2015 season but he was in the discussion for the first overall selection prior to his injury. Hoffman, who will turn 22 in January, may not need much minor league seasoning, assuming he has no setbacks during his rehab. 5. C Max Pentecost, Vancouver Another 2014 first rounder, Pentecost will hopefully help Jays fans forget about the loss of Yan Gomes to Cleveland. The former Kennesaw State star is an excellent athlete and has hit .324 in his first 25 pro games. 6. 3B Mitch Nay, Lansing Perhaps one of the most underrated third base prospects in the game, Nay has hit quite well during his first taste of full-season action at the age of 20. His in-game power hasn’t developed just yet (three homers in 113 games) but he’s hitting for average, showing gap power and his defense has been much improved. 7. RHP Miguel Castro, Lansing You’re going to start to hear a lot more about this youngster. This Dominican native can hit the upper 90s with his fastball and flashes a potentially-plus changeup. If he can polish his breaking ball … well, watch out. 8. SS Dawel Lugo, Lansing Another shortstop on the Top 10 list, Lugo reminds me a little bit of Jhonny Peralta and there are questions over his ability to stick at shortstop due to his frame and modest range. He might hit well enough for third. 9. RHP Roberto Osuna, Dunedin Osuna, 19, missed a good portion of the 2013-14 seasons due to Tommy John surgery but he’s back throwing in the mid 90s with an above-average changeup. His breaking ball still needs polish and the lost development time didn’t do him any favours in that regard. 10. SS Richard Urena, Bluefield The third shortstop on the list is the youngest of the three but he has the best chance to stick at the position. To go along with solid defence, his bat has been better than advertised and the 18-year-old infielder is hitting .324 with an .822 OPS.
  10. edit: tweet was wrong, Borucki has 1 strikeout
  11. Himself and Felix Hernandez are freaks of nature
  12. You know whats amazing, Osuna is 6 months younger then Castro. My God is he young
  13. Maybe he had a few swinging strikes in non "k" counts. Overall excellent year for Miguel Castro. Wouldn't be surprised if he starts next year in High A
  14. Its a pretty good outing, you seem disappointed. 3 hits
  15. Reynaldo Lopez Pith Type Present Grade Future Grade Sitting Velocity Peak Velocity Report FB 70 80 94-98 99 Elite velocity; explosive offering capable of reaching upper velo bands on a consistent basis; easy velo; heavy fastball off a terrific plane; shows arm-side run as well; FB has extreme life and hitters have difficult time barreling; command is very projectable; able to spot his pitches; keep ball low and was attacking hitters low all night; could be plus command in future; command wavered in final two innings when he started to tire; held velocity in stretch at 94-97 velo band; touched 97 in 6th; needs to work on attacking glove side with FB; could be one of the most electric FB from a SP in the game. CB 50 60 76-80 82 11-5 offering; inconsistent currently; flashes shape and depth at its best; tight spin with good rotation through its trajectory; arm speed is consistent with FB; cast a couple; release points are slightly inconsistent but looks to still be learning feel for the pitch; best in the 76-78 velo band; could be a plus offering when he is able to throw more consistently; command is currently fringe. CH 40 50 84-86 87 Able to replicate FB arm speed; pitch has feel; too firm right now but displays mild fading action; able to work low in zone and only hung one in the middle of the plate out of a dozen; command is currently below-average; release points seem to waver; repetition and refinement of CH are well in reach and could be an average pitch with more consistency. Nationals might have a gem in the making. Signed him for 17k per BP
  16. Ryan Borucki has only walked 9 in 53.1 innings
