Terrence Ross is having a very good season so far and has the potential to be a 3+D player. At worst, he'll be a solid bench player in a few years.
And they're not built to become the pacers either with the current core. They'll have to blow it up eventually so why not sooner rather than later? You need a superstar to be a legit championship contender in this league and since there is no way the raptors can get one through FA, the draft is the only option. The odds of finding one with a top 10 pick is significantly greater than a pick in the late teens which would be where the raptors will draft if they make the playoffs.
I'd rather them increase their chances of drafting a superstar in a stacked draft class than making the playoffs in a weakass conference with a core that has no potential for greater things to come.
