I think it just shows that this is what happens when you don't have your starting front court.

They should put in Bruno and Bebe. They're not winning this game anyways.

Nah, Ross can shoot. Although it's looking more and more like he'll be a 3 and D player and nothing more.

No reason not to give Bebe a look. He was a defensive beast in the second best basketball league in the world.

31 threes is fine, at least they're not mid range jumpers.

It's not ridiculous because giving up 111 points per 100 possessions is objectively bad... it wasn't like Brooklyn were hitting a abnormal amount of contested shots. Yes, a lot of it was because of fouls, but believe it or not, not committing fouls is a part of playing defense. We'll just agree to disagree.

Oh c'mon, you can't seriously be looking at playoff rankings when they didn't even face any of the elite offensive teams like Miami/San Antonio/Clippers etc. And I don't agree with the idea that their fouling and slow pace inflated their rating because that is how they played in the Reg season too. They were one of the leaders in fouls committed and were in the bottom third of the league in pace.

So I'm not allowed to use statistics that show they gave up a high number of points per possession to back up my point that they played bad defensively in the playoffs? Ok fine I'll concede on your account that Joe Johnson tore them up and they didn't force any turnovers... which somehow isn't part of defense apparently.

It's trivial because you're wrong? You're the one who asked if I watched the games. Well I did and they looked bad defensively to me and all the metrics back that up. You're just making excuses for them to justify that what you thought you saw was right.

Dude they had a 111 defensive rating against Brooklyn, how is that good defending? And Jonas should have played at least 35 minutes yesterday to cut Hayes minutes in half because he is a complete negative on the floor.

    NBA Thread

They did not defend well at all in the playoffs and Hayes played 12 minutes yesterday and jv only 29.no reason even on a back2back for that when jv has only averaged like 25 minutes a game. Last years' decline in defense matters because its a large enough sample size to be concerned it will continue into this year when most of the roster is the same.

I do not understand why he keeps giving minutes to Hayes. He's an OK defender but they're playing 4 vs 5 on the offensive end with him.

If they really had a switch, I would have thought they would turn it on in the playoffs.

I'm worried about this team's defense. For it to be Casey's calling card, I'm surprised at how they've been declining on that end. If you look at the the last quarter of last year and into the playoffs, there has been a noticeable drop off and tonight, they were just terrible.
