He was only officially DFA'd by the A's yesterday/2 days ago IIRC. I don't think he cleared yet

Should be. Boras, backed by MLB rules, got his agent a year where he can't be offered the qualifying offer. Now it's a question of does Boras accept a 1 year contract, and will the Jays pony up some cash

His bat is probably going to be s***, but, if Goins tightens his approach at the plate and fouls balls off running the pitch count high + has a good eye (starts to draw walks) he'll naturally improve as a hitter. His glove is really good right now and would be OK at 2B. With that being said I still welcome Drew to play SS until Reyes is 100% healthy, then we swing him around and have Goins as a pinch runner (I'm guessing he can run decently?) and an infield glove.

Broas is asking the Jays to sign him, and IIRC Anthopolus mentioned something this offseason that he offered a contract to a player, and that player's agent is Scott Boras. Boras said from the get go that Drew is willing to play 2B

It can. It's our best odds. Outcry from fanbase + we can't offer a Qualifying Offer, just like what Drew wants. Sign him to a 1 year deal at discount and throw in an option
