Jays: Morrow didn't allow a hit but walked a career-high eight to yield four runs in 2.2 innings of Saturday's 7-6 home defeat to Boston. In his last three starts, he's made it though just 11.1 innings and walked 14. He made it though seven innings in his only career start against Pittsburgh on June 29, 2011, when he held the Pirates to a run on four hits while walking three and earning the win in a 2-1 victory. The Blue Jays have lost six of eight, but offense hasn't been the problem as they've managed 5.3 runs in that time. A team ERA of 6.43 has largely spoiled that run production. The bullpen has a 7.96 ERA and .312 BAA in that time. The Blue Jays have now posted back-to-back losing records in March/April. They went 12-15 this season after a 10-17 mark in 2013. It's the first time that has happened since 2002-04. Pirates: Cole has made it through at least six innings in each of his five starts. He hasn't issued more than three walks and has never failed to make it through five in 26 career starts, including the post season. He's allowed two runs on 12 hits in 15 innings in his last two outings, though he took the loss in a 1-0 defeat in St. Louis on April 25. Cole's been given just five runs of support in his last three starts. The Pirates dropped both games of Thursday's doubleheader in Baltimore and has now lost three in a row and 10 of 12. They are batting .217 and averaging 2.8 runs during the slump. The Pirates are 15-7 in interleague play since the start of last season. Err sorry for taking a long time, I was knocked out for most of yesterday. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6b/Houston-Astros-Logo.svg/200px-Houston-Astros-Logo.svg.png http://www.perfectgame.org/images/profilepics/474322.jpg My draft pick is going to be................ LHP, out of the Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, California, Brady Aiken. This was a goddamn tough decision, and before anyone wants to say anything, let me try to justify my thinking in selecting this young man (he's younger than me!). The Houston Astros under general manager Jeff Luhnow have turned their organization around for good. The same organization that had high profile players such as Oswalt, Berkman, Bagwell, Clemens, Bourn, Pence and much more from the past and present enjoyed a good decade of baseball, and have since blown up this team and are trying to draft their way to the top. Brady Aiken fits the bill that Lunhow wants on the team. With their top 2 prospect being position prospects (Corria and Springer), I believe they want a very, very high ceiling #1 pitcher highlighting the future of the Astros (although many would argue Appel is exactly that). Lunhow is not afraid to go with his guns, even if it's against what a lot of scouts/analysts on the internet would say. This situation here is very similar to the one two years prior, where Corria was picked over the #1 mock draft choice at the time (Mark Appel). Corria is too a very young highschooler with tools that make him look legendary at his age right now. Very similar to Aiken, who features "improved velocity" on his fastball clocking in at 93-95, topping out at 97 miles per hour and a plus breaking ball. The lefty high schooler throws a great amount of quality starts - moreso than his HS counterpart for a top spot, Tyler Kolek. This year he has struck out 80 HS bats in only 43.2 innings (229 in 144.2 total high school innings) and if that isn't convincing enough, he was on USA's under 18 team where he had a 1.13 ERA and struck out 19 in 16 games, including a dominant performance against Japan, striking out 10 in 7 innings while giving up 5 hits and 1 run. His health is good, and he's taking precautions at a young age as he works with a physical therapist and participates in a "pre-hab" program where he works on his forearm to prevent future forearm strains. Health is a big issue for starters as seen by this season of the Majors alone, and of my 4 big choices for my #1 position he seems to be the healthiest. Kolek throws 103 as a highschooler and makes me scared because of that fact, Jeff Hoffman was shut down after TWO starts where he complained about arm soreness and Rodon just pitched a 130+ game on short rest, eek. This guy is amazing, he cut down his walks by 20% in one year, cut down hits, increased fastball range, increased movement/break on curve ball in just one year, what a stud. It was hard not to go with #1 mock pick Rodon, or Hoffman, or even the local highschooler Kolek, but I think I made the right decision here!

Jays: Buehrle allowed 12 hits and seven runs over 5 1-3 innings Friday in an 8-1 home loss to the Red Sox. He gave up more earned runs in Boston's four-run second inning than he had in his first four starts combined. He has allowed one run over 22 2-3 innings in three road starts but holds a 6.16 ERA in his last five starts at Kauffman Stadium. Although Cabrera went into the last day of April with 41 hits, he was well off the Blue Jays franchise record for hits in a month. Lloyd Moseby had 47 hits for Toronto in August 1983. Bautista, who has reached base in all 27 games, had 30 walks in April to match Fred McGriff's single-month club record. Royals: Guthrie gave up two runs in the first inning Saturday and none over the next six in a 3-2, 10-inning loss at Baltimore. (Click the image below!) http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t538/BlueJays20131/hr2_zps4bac6d4f.png Jays Batting: Team Batting: http://i.imgur.com/TMdBJsK.png Batting Projections (Streamer RoS): http://i.imgur.com/JObf9qk.png Team Pitching: http://i.imgur.com/nqTd8Qq.png Royals Batting: Team Batting: http://i.imgur.com/UH0NppH.png Batting Projections (Streamer RoS): http://i.imgur.com/I7CxKme.png Team Pitching: http://i.imgur.com/SuuYJYk.png Notes: MLB: No Important Notes Today. Jays: Hutchison has a 2.08 ERA over his last three starts after giving up two runs in six innings of Toronto's 11-4 loss to the Orioles on Thursday. He struck out nine for the second straight outing and has 23 strikeouts while walking three over 17 1-3 innings in that stretch. Jose Bautista's homer on Tuesday night gave him 176 while wearing a Blue Jays uniform. He's three away from matching Jesse Barfield for fifth place on the club's all-time list. Edwin Encarnacion needs three homers to reach the 200-homer milestone for his career. He hit No. 197 on Tuesday. Royals: Ventura has struck out 27 through 25 innings after punching out eight through eight innings of a 5-0 win over Baltimore on Friday. Ventura became the first Royals rookie to strike out at least six in four consecutive games since Dennis Leonard in 1979. Bruce Chen originally was slated to start this contest, but Yost pushed Ventura up because of Monday's off day.
