    His best seasons were his age 37-41 years. 47 WAR over those 4 years. Unprecedented. Under a normal aging curve he doesn't come close to those numbers and finishes quite a distance behind Mays in career WAR. His age 37-41 output was drug fuelled.

    Quite optimistic for a team of 5 highly paid guys in their decline years surrounded by a couple of good pitchers and a bunch of flawed players. Move them at the deadline if the team is hovering around .500 (there is little prospect capital to trade for a Price/Tulo and try for 2015 again), or let them go at the end of the season. Jays need to take the Cubbies rebuild route and when a Heyward is available again Jays will have money that would otherwise be tied up in a bunch of almost 40 yr olds. It's just really unfortunate AA/Beest decided to do the Marlins/Dickey deals.

    This is a dumb thread Goins is a bottom 25 man guy Goins ~ Barney ~ Casilla Jays aren't going to go dumpster diving for another of these types, nor are they going to trade an asset for an upgrade (presumably with a higher salary) So pick your poison among the 3 (incidentally, Casilla has a .429 BABIP in Buffalo)

    It's not to be offensive, its offering what the Jays can afford. Jays can't afford to be saddled with a bunch of high cost, long term contracts to players in or entering their decline years - JD, Martin, Tulo, EE, JB

    Let's be clear tho.... Goins makes $0.5M which is a key reason why the Jays likely never seriously considered upgrading the MIF bench position.
