  1. Pearson debut was excellent Jays are still in the rebuilding phase IMO
  2. Will say it again. Don't care about wins and losses in this shitshow of a season. Tonight was a Blue Jays success.
  3. What a pitch, Kieboom had no chance
  4. Fantrax note: Soto was cleared by MLB Wednesday but due to local health standards, he won't be able to make his season debut until Aug. 4 against the Mets, at the earliest, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Analysis Washington, D.C. requires anyone who was exposed to COVID-19 to quarantine for 14 days, so he won't be able to play in either of these next two games against the Blue Jays. This weekend's series against the Marlins has been postponed, so that leaves next week's series against the Mets as his first opportunity to get back in the lineup. Michael Taylor, Emilio Bonifacio and Andrew Stevenson will continue to get starts in his place in the meantime.
  5. Soto can't play until August 4th due to local DC regs. Unequal regs across the US impacting on the season. Just another of the many inequities this year.
  6. Too many on here let their emotions dictate their position, forgetting that baseball is a business. Stroman, despite his sometimes questionable behaviour, was popular among the casuals.
  7. Nah. When rebuilding, you don't pass up an opportunity to trade a guy with a year and a half of service before free agency, for an SWR and Kay. I am sure the Jays want Stroman back, if the price is right.
  8. 4.1 ip 2 er 4 h 2 bb 6 k 74 pitches
  9. Happy Nate Pearson Day y'all!
  10. Soto now has two consecutive negatives and waiting for clearance. Will be in the lineup tomorrow, tonight rather unlikely.
  11. Sure hope not. Would further torpedo the Jays chances of signing him. Which would make the already hilarious trade an absolute embarrassment for the Mets.
  12. Certainly the Marlins situation shows what MLB has put in place is not necessarily sufficient. As with anything new and particularly as complicated as this situation, there are going to be excesses on both ends of the spectrum, too cautious in some areas, too lax in others.
  13. I already explained it. Remember, Soto went into quarantine when he arrived from the Dominican.
  14. The have to be MLB sanctioned tests. Three of the negatives are MLB sanctioned results. I can only assume two of them are from before the 1 positive result.
  15. Juan Soto has tested negative 6 times, and positive once. He is asymptomatic. He remains ineligible to play. The positive result was probably a false positive. edit - already posted, anyway
  16. Big Nate has officially joined the Spooge MLB roster
  17. I suppose. But false negatives / false positives is a problem. From what I have seen, the % of these is relatively high.
  18. You don't know this. And "everyone" does not think masks are a panacea. Masks are a recommended mitigation measure.
  19. I guess, but there are so many other opportunities for transmission to occur. Wonder if the entire Marlins team has to quarantine for 14 days now.
  20. Fromm MLBTraderumours: The implications here, of course, are broad-reaching. The Phillies just shared the field with the Marlins for their opening three-game series, which will undoubtedly prompt concerns among Phillies players and staff. The Yankees, meanwhile, had been scheduled to travel to Philadelphia to set up shop in the same visiting clubhouse at Citizens Bank Park that was just home to 14 positive cases. Ramifications beyond the immediate circle of baseball employees exist as well, of course. The Marlins have been staying at a hotel in Philadelphia over the weekend, which means staff on hand there has likely been exposed as well. RIP MLB 2020
  21. Latest News Jul 24, 12:40 PM EDT D'Arnaud (illness) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Friday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. Analysis The 31-year-old actually tested negative for COVID-19 but is showing similar symptoms, so he didn't travel with the team for Opening Day. D'Arnaud can rejoin the team once clear of the symptoms since there's no minimum stay for the specialized IL. Tyler Flowers is sidelined by similar circumstances, leaving Alex Jackson and William Contreras to handle catching duties for the Braves. ESPN: The Atlanta Braves will be without their top two catchers, Tyler Flowers and Travis d'Arnaud, for Friday's opening game at the New York Mets after both players showed symptoms of the coronavirus. Manager Brian Snitker said Friday that Flowers and d'Arnaud have tested negative for COVID-19 but did not travel with the team because they had symptoms. Snitker said he did not know what the symptoms were and hoped the two just had "a bad cold." Snitker said the team is being careful because "we've had guys test negative and the next day they test positive."
  22. d'Arnaud tested negative, but is exhibiting symptoms of being sick. Team just being cautious. Will probably be back on the team tomorrow.
