  1. Keep in mind, the Jays were relatively lucky with pitcher health in 2022. It was an atypical year in that respect.
  2. In a typical year, a team uses 10 different starting pitchers. So it is likely as of now we see Thompson, Hutchison, Lawrence, and Hatch starting games at some point. 3 of these guys suck giant balls. So, with the rest of the team in great shape, for adding to projected WAR, SP depth has to be the current priority before the season starts. Injuries happen to both MLB guys and your depth guys during the season. As I said, I expect the Jays to add more, and better, SP depth. During ST, guys do become available and trades are made. It really sucks we couldn't retain Chicken Strip.
  3. Agreed the SP depth is a real weakness. Kikuchi should be a depth piece after the season he just had, either in the bullpen, or on the Toronto Buffalo express. Still hopeful the Jays make one more move, and bump Kikuchi down. There's always the chance ikuchi could correct himself and perform well in the starts he gets, and move back up into the rotation like Stripling last year. But I'm not betting on it.
  4. Even with all the staff turnover, the Houston FO keeps making good moves
  5. Canning was doing OK before he got hurt. Also the Angels have kind of said they are using a 6 man rotation, or close to it, IIRC
  6. Anyone wanna take a cheap flyer on Asa Lacy sorting out his control issues? Also I'll move Camilo Doval for pick upgrade. Should be good for approx. 30 saves
  7. don't sleep on Danner, the reports are the stuff is MLB calibre
  8. Well, that's that then. 60 PA for Gose, ugh. For Lorenzen might not be too bad. Maybe the kittens will give him that, to boost his trade value.
  9. So I looked up LAA on Roster Resource. Ohtani is listed as both a hitter and a pitcher. And with that, LAA has 14 pitchers listed. The Jays have 13 pitchers listed. So it appears two-way players do not count towards the 13 pitcher limit. Someone like Gose as an OF/RP, or a Lorenzen as an OF/RP would be a pretty good fit as 26th man. Few PA, but would help in other areas.
  10. You brick, yes it is rare that a player signs with other than the highest bidder Sure there are exceptions and my post alluded to it ("pretty much..") but these tend to be driven not by team loyalty but other factors such as local family ties, etc
  11. Sure, and the counter consideration is Tucker likely has a house, friends, maybe kids in school in Houston area....
  12. ROY Griffin! First award of any kind to a Blue Jay, in 1979
  13. I don't think it matters, really. End of the day, pretty much every player will sign wherever the money is. Tucker isn't going to say f*** you to the Astros if they offer $10M more than the next guy.
  14. So does a guy signed as as an OF but with pitching ability (say, Gose is signed as an OF) count toward the 13 pitcher limit if occasionally used as a mop up RP?
  15. Probably fairly equal, 1/3 each. And that's fine. Espinal will also get reps at SS and 3B. Biggio at 1B and corner OF. Merrifield at all 3 OF positions. I just have no clue where the heck the 26th man will ever play. Any OF/RP out there? Gose maybe
  16. He's near the bottom, defensively. Jays have elite D pretty much everywhere around the diamond except SS. If Bo could get up to an average level of defense at SS, this is probably one of the all time great defensive teams.
  17. Where do you rank Bo defensively as a SS, compared to other starting SS in MLB?
  18. And connorp is the shih-tzu/pug cross
  19. Good companion/comfort dogs too, if you need that.
  20. "He can kiss my purple butt!"
  21. Ah, Sil Campusano We all had such big hopes for that guy
  22. I'm curious how Joe Siddall will be in two places at once
  23. Yes, the porn stash and the hard-on. Doesn't look like a ballplayer.
