  1. f*** yea so pumped to see Biggio! Thought they might consider sending down Drury.
  2. Davis Wendzel is a guy a love, I don't think it's likely he get gets to the second round. The BA report. Notes: Ht: 6-0 | Wt: 185 | B-T: R-R Commit/Drafted: Red Sox '18 (37) Scouting Report: A teammate of 2017 No. 1 pick Royce Lewis at California’s JSerra High, Wendzel quickly found his home at Baylor. The hirsute Wendzel boasts one of the fullest beards and longest mullets in college baseball, making him easily recognizable. Big 12 coaches have noticed his consistent ability to barrel baseballs, and he’s also proven to be one of the most reliable defenders in the conference. Scouts liked Wendzel last year as a draft-eligible sophomore, but he was clear about his intentions to return to Baylor for his junior year. That’s why he slid to the 37th round to the Red Sox. He’ll likely not make it out of the second round this year, as he’s a well-rounded third baseman with a lengthy track record of hitting. Wendzel has more hitting ability than power, although evaluators believe he has the potential to get to average power eventually. He projects as an above-average hitter despite a less than picture perfect swing. There’s some length to his front arm as he begins his swing by dropping his hands in the beginning of his load, then powers it through the zone. But his excellent pitch recognition and strike-zone awareness make it work. Defensively, he’s an above-average third baseman with an above-average, accurate arm who is very reliable—he’d made only one error all year as of mid-May. He’s sneakily athletic and has even slid over to shortstop from time to time for the Bears. Wendzel doesn’t have the power potential of some of the other top third baseman in the class, but scouts’ comfort level with his well-rounded game will ensure he goes high in the draft.
  3. PCL with the juiced balls.
  4. So he has to be getting paid pretty well considering he was still going to be a comp/second rounder. Boras has talked about guys playing in Japan before didn't really expect anyone this young to consider it.
  5. Yikes he just swung at 3 straight balls, all the same pitch.
  6. I really dislike Montoyo. 7-2 lead, a young pitcher deserves a chance to finish that inning. I know he's at 102 pitches but come on, show him some confidence.
  7. He's on an inning limit this year or at least for now.
  8. Fangraphs mock 2.0 is up. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/mock-draft-2-0/ 11. Blue Jays – Jackson Rutledge, RHP, San Jacinto JC (TX) The Jays have been tied to Thompson (who has an elbow that worries some teams despite never having surgery) and Rutledge (who had hip labrum surgery in 2018), along with some of the college bats above if they slide, and prep CF Corbin Carroll, who could be the prep bat who slides just enough to make it to the Diamondbacks’ pick, where they can assert their draft-leading pool.
  9. Klaw did.
  10. BA's latest Mock Draft. Bryson Stott Nevada-Las Vegas SS Notes: We continue to hear hitters mentioned most frequently with the Blue Jays, on both the high school and college side. There are a few to pick from here, including Stott, the top college shortstop in the class, Carroll, who Toronto has scouted heavily this spring, and Baty, who we mocked to the Blue Jays last week. If the Blue Jays are worried at all about Baty’s age or Carroll’s size, Stott makes the most sense here. We've been linked to a college pick multiple times now.
  11. Yep now that the Rays are good and seem like they don't miss a beat on talent, all these extra picks are gross.
  12. Damn after a just returning from a foot injury.
  13. I thought I read the Jays offered Ramirez the best deal but he chose the Marlins cause he thought he would have a better opportunity.
  14. Yea cause this year is different than any other year.
  15. God I hate that all these bad plays are working for him. Gives all the casuals ammo "See it worked that one time!"
  16. Groshans on the 7 day IL, not sure for what.
  17. I wonder if Sanchez looks at his line every start and thinks "yep I did my job". Edit forgot the quote: “I wish I woulda, you know, got some help out there. The outcome would have been a little bit different.”
  18. BA updated mocked draft. 11 Tor Brett Baty Lake Travis (Austin) HS 3B Notes: Toronto has been in to see Lakeside (Seattle) High outfielder Corbin Carroll quite a bit this spring, but they’ve also lately had some heat in to bear down on Lake Travis (Austin) High third baseman Brett Baty. While the two are vastly different prospects, they are the best prep bats on the board here. Last year the Blue Jays popped Texas-based prep shortstop Jordan Groshans and signed him under slot at No. 12 and they could do something similar this year with Baty, who will get Nolan Gorman comps but will also get dinged by draft models that punish older players.
  19. In McDaniels top 10 mock he pretty much made it seem like everyone likes Bledday so I doubt he falls to us unless he significantly drops off this month. If McDaniels is right and they go the college route I can see Jung. I've been watching a lot of video of Brett Baty who looks like he's going to have big power with a lofty left handed swing but he's a HS guy. I don't see us grabbing any HS arms in the first round, maybe a JuCo guy. Still got to like Jackson Rutledge.
  20. Pardinho drops from 78 to 96 on BA Top 100 ETA: 2022 Fastball: 55 | Curveball: 60 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 60 Pardinho skipped two levels in his pro debut last year but still baffled hitters thanks to his advanced combination of bat-missing stuff and pitchability beyond his years. Groshans moves up from 83 to 65 ETA: 2022 Hit: 60 | Power: 60 | Speed: 50 | Defense: 50 | Arm: 55 The No. 12 overall pick in the 2018 draft earned rave reviews in his pro debut for his combination of hitting ability and power. Nate Pearson moves up from 63 to 48 ETA: 2020 Fastball: 70 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 45 Pearson threw just 1.2 innings in the regular season, but his 104 mph fastball in the Arizona Fall League showed his stuff is still electric. Bo Bichette stays at 7 ETA: 2019 Hit: 70: | Power: 55 | Speed: 50 | Defense: 50 | Arm: 55 One of the top hitters in the minors, Bichette's defensive improvements make him Toronto's shortstop of the future Vlad still #1 ETA: 2019 (But not Opening Day) Hit: 80: | Power: 70 | Speed: 40 | Defense: 40 | Arm: 60 You were expecting someone else? Guerrero Jr. is a potential superstar and a hitter with the upside to win a batting title or lead the league in home runs.
  21. That would be our worst bullpen ever, someone always on base.
  22. Gurriel is a AAAA player
