Some people can't get on to make their pick once the lineups are posted. Not letting them have a backup is unfair, because those who are on can change their pick. I do agree though, if you can.. Please wait for the lineups to be posted.

I'm not really seeing that much of an advantage because everyone has a chance to change their pick up till first pitch. Even when a player is scratched last minute, people still have a chance to change. Posting a backup just saves the person from racing to change their pick before the game. It's more of a pain that people post backup plans when they can just wait for the lineups and post one pick.

I'm okay with people posting a backup pick if they are not able to make a change when the official lineup comes out. It's not really unfair because they still only have one player. I'd just prefer those who know they will be on later, to wait and make their pick.
