  1. Absolutely Guardians wanted out of the contract and had less need for the pool money than we did Nice arrangement if it works out
  2. OMFG this is nuts Just ONCE could one of these signings that we're scared to ne hopeful for work out?!?!?!?!
  3. From MLBTR: The Jays started with a pool of $6,261,600. The Dodgers had their pool dropped by $1MM for signing Shohei Ohtani, since he rejected a qualifying offer and they were a competitive balance tax payor in 2023, winding up at $5,146,200. Since the Jays are allowed to increase their pool by 60%, they can theoretically get that number as high as $10,018,560. This deal gets them up to $8,261,600.
  4. Been thinking about this but haven't asked for an opinion. If you **do** sign Sasaki do you then try and trade Bassitt to bring payroll down and get something else you need in the process?
  5. They could have another international player in mind Just trying to temper my enthusiasm sorry
  6. So sad One of the best all time people in baseball
  7. Don't think Springer can fill in CF for a month or two?
  8. A hot spring from a few among Schneider, Clement, Barger, Wagner and Loperfido would be most welcome. But I don't feel we can afford to count on any of them.
  9. s***** thing is losing the draft pick for one year of a player
  10. This would be the biggest steal imaginable because he doesn't even cost any significant money. And you could maybe even trade another starter to free salary to add a bat. JFC I refuse to get too excited but wow it would be huge.
  11. IDK. It's all up to him. He just decided he didn't want to go to the Rangers, Yankees or Mets. Wants more time to pick between the 3 he's still considering.
  12. I am excited and prepared to either celebrate or be disappointed again.
  13. Everything you need to know about Sasaki's signing process November 9th, 2024 Jonathan Mayo https://www.mlb.com/news/roki-sasaki-faq How much can he sign for? At age 23, Sasaki is subject to international bonus pool money restrictions, as he’s under 25 and has less than six seasons of service time in a foreign league recognized by MLB. So we won’t be seeing a Yamamoto type of deal here (12 years, $325 million). This is similar to when Ohtani came here in 2017, when he received a bonus of $2.3 million from the Angels. When is he eligible to sign with an MLB team? All 30 MLB clubs have 45 days to negotiate with a player after he is posted. If no agreement is reached in that timeframe, the player returns to his NPB club for the coming season. He cannot be posted again until the following offseason.
  14. f*** you all I'm absolutely convinced he's going to sign with the Jays
  15. They've also shown a willingness to pay a position player ~20M per, presuming the Santander rumour is true, and also a willingness to pay Vladdy long term. Though I guess we don't if they'd already signed Santander if they would have been willing to pay Hoffman but I hope so because the BP needed it. So yes could be a record payroll for sure depending on how the rest of the dominos fall. They will likely plan to avoid going over the luxury tax threshold repeatedly however. Thankfully they avoided it last year.
  16. No problem with acquiring Gimenez in isolation It's just that as it stands we're sitting with Loperfido starting in LF, Clement at 3B and we don't really have a DH. Need some more offense from somewhere, and both time and options are quickly running out.
  17. The Orioles and free agent reliever Andrew Kittredge are in agreement on a one-year, $10MM guarantee, reports Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The Paragon Sports International client receives a $9MM salary for the upcoming season and is guaranteed a $1MM buyout on a $9MM club option for 2026. Baltimore has a full 40-man roster and will need to make a move when the contract is finalized.
  18. Same I think he could have fought for more through arbitration and won But he's likely looking at the big picture and a 12-14 year contract and realizes that makes a couple extra million now meaningless
  19. Even worse: Agrees to buy something for 50 bucks then shows up at your door and asks if you'll take 30. (I've actually had this happen to me and had to send them away)
  20. He was only projected to get 2M in arb this year. And everyone knows the Rays won't be keeping him if that option year reaches 20M.
  21. CBS Sports: The Rays and Rasmussen avoided arbitration Tuesday by agreeing to a two-year, $8 million contract extension, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The deal also includes an $8 million club option for 2027 which could escalate to as high as $20 million if Rasmussen reaches all of his health and innings pitched incentives. There's a $500,000 buyout attached to the option, so the right-hander is guaranteed a total of $8.5 million with the extension. Rasmussen looked sharp in 2024 in his return from an internal brace procedure, holding a 2.83 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 35:6 K:BB over 28.2 innings. He is expected to return to the rotation full-time in 2025, although he will have significant workload restrictions in place after totaling just 80.2 frames since the start of the 2023 season.
  22. Really tired of waiting for something to happen
