  1. The lack of big bats at the top of the 2014 draft must have been annoying. Usually there are two or three college guys who can hit and have big power. 2014's top college position players are expected to derive their value in other ways: Pentecost, Conforto, Turner, Zimmer. Schwarber probably could have gone higher in our draft I guess.
  2. Trading down in the initial draft doesn't look great. - Spanky traded slot 4 (Miguel Cabrera, Byron Buxton) for slot 17 (Justin Verlander, Taijuan Walker). - KingKat traded slot 3 (Giancarlo Stanton, Carlos Correa) for slot 8 (Prince Fielder, Jose Fernandez). - jays_fever traded slot 5 (Andrew McCutchen, Zack Wheeler) for slot 16 (Stephen Strasburg, Billy Hamilton). Obviously the slots are more than the top two players, but missing out on the elite talent looks costly.
  3. I believe I found a mistake in the spreadsheet. I drafted Wendell Rijo in June with pick 81 yet he isn't recorded.
  4. I was in favour of an unlimited farm when the rules were being made. I think that would work well in deep dynasties. I wish Gibbers would explain his strategy with the extra picks; I'm legitimately curious. Instead he'll just pop in and tell Boxy to worry about his own team.
  5. My trade block is straight forward. I'm open to moving my existing decent prospects for upgrades. Additionally, I am trying to acquire better-than-decent prospects in exchange for major league excesses.
  6. I'm a definite Castro fan but he's nothing spectacular and a further breakout shouldn't be expected. Desmond is in a different asset class.
  7. The model likes moves and doesn't like posts. You outperform it by a fairly typical 56 wins (average distance is 41). Spanky is the one way at the left and Boxy is at the bottom (under-performed by 130).
  8. Yeah I didn't denote who traded who in three+ team deals. That was a pretty fair trade.
  9. Trades don't really correlate with regular season wins. But I fit wins with moves and board posts; adjusted r-squared of -0.103. http://i.imgur.com/yz1fW26.png
  10. I have an open spot for Hanley in 2015 and will next year too with CCC vacating the outfield. I think Hanley can really hit and he adds to my offense going forward. It was a lot to give up though. Min gets the under-30 ace he was desperate for and picks up a great prospect.
  11. I'm glad we could come to an agreement. I finally got a franchise shortstop although it's only for one year.
  12. Yeah that was the crazy one I wasn't aware of previously. Also: 274 26/08/2014 2015 Silvergun Jacob deGrom speedygose Gavin Floyd, CC Sabathia, Josh Beckett
  13. A trade that doesn't get enough attention and probably didn't at the time either was Markakis + Glasnow for Lester. You stole a very good pitcher from KingKat and Lester was very good in 2013 too.
  14. Thanks. I'll maintain it. It had to be in Excel to go with the Doc and I figured those headings would work.
  15. Not directly, but going through it all you can tell that the bottom teams often make a certain type of trade, and the top teams often made a different certain type of trade. I emailed you the file.
  16. http://i.imgur.com/52OIg5j.png The trade history has been created. It's an Excel table with trade details that can be added to the Google Doc.
  17. No, none of the lesser-known Giants arms made it (Mella, Mejia, Blatch, Blackburn). Only BP seems to be in on those guys. A Bugs Bunny/Fernando Rodney changeup according to AA.
  18. Jacob Lindgren made the top 100 (at 100)!
  19. 30. Austin Meadows 101. Clint Frazier 52. Steven Souza 133. Michael Taylor Interesting stuff.
  20. You could have the drafting owner add a placeholder player until they're added to the database. Letting people draft these guys is indeed better than having them appear in the Majors and be subject to waivers. How does Raisel Iglesias' eligibility work? He made seven appearances in the AFL, is a clear Major Leaguer and isn't in Yahoo.
  21. I meant that there are other Cuban prospects who, if they sign in the next few days, will get taken in the waiver draft. They're semi-interesting.
  22. Andy Ibanez is interesting too. And there's a bunch of other guys who could get taken later in the waiver draft should they sign. I am in full agreement with that rule but I don't think it was decided on in the past.
  23. Ah, so you guys will just not let the draft start until Sunday. That makes the most sense. Did Yahoo have the trophies in the Standings section last year? It's a nice touch and a statement that third place means something after all.
  24. At the very top, sure. Is the deadline for players to become draft-eligible the first player being drafted or the windowed period starting?
  25. Whoever is at the top should probably wait for some Cubans to get sorted out.
