So Cespedes' contract requires him to be nontendered after next year. So he isn't eligible for a QO.

Yeah, I realized that my viewpoint would be confusing so I'll just state it outright. If you look at the trade in a vacuum, it's a good trade. Fuld > Milone. If you consider the context, Beane should have identified what he had in Fuld before losing him so that he could have dealt Milone for something as well as already had Fuld. Hopefully that's less confusing.

They already had Sam Fuld. Then they lost him on waivers. So essentially, they just gave up Milone on waivers. Granted, he's put up 2.3 fWAR, but if he already had Fuld, this is pretty bad.
