It's a shame they probably value Plouffe properly, he'd be a fantastic get for us. I really hope Buxton works out (and Vargas! shameless plug) and that Mauer can at least start getting back to what he once was.

Sanchez, one of Smoral/Nay, and a lower level guy would be okay with me, but I'd rather not trade both Smoral and Nay. They could both be extremely valuable.

So we lose our starting shortstop to shed a few million each year while giving up a potentially valuable prospect (or DJ Davis) and get nothing in return. Yeah, I'll pass. -
Well, if you traded for Chapman as a reliever, you could convert him into a starter anyway, lol Assuming Chapman is like a 4 win pitcher (JFaS posted numbers I think?), you'd be paying 5 cheap-ish years of a 2.5-3 win pitcher for 1 year of 4 wins at a not-inexpensive salary and then maybe the right to pay him at the very least market value
