Hopefully for him he retires. Sounds like he's in pretty s***** condition. Or at least do what Pronger did and sit on LTIR collecting salary w/ no cap hit.
Doubt he makes it to the end of the contract though, which even then would save a lot of money (and those years are probably more important than the next few).
Eh, Wells was still a productive player when he was dealt, just on an unfortunate contract. Clarkson is unproductive and on a horrendous contract, and we might just have completely cleared that contract.
The parallels to the Wells deal (ParaWells?) are striking.
If the board actually did that then we all would've gone f***ing nuts about not signing Johan Santana during last offseason when he was projected for like 3-4 wins.
He has a career 102 wRC+. 20 runs replacement. 0 runs offense. 0 runs defense. -7.5 positional adjustment for 1B. You're left with 12.5 runs. So he'd need to be a 7.5 win defender. That's a lot to ask, but it's certainly reasonable that he could approach 2 wins over a full season.
I mean, he has a career WAR/600 of a little over 2.
Oh goody, another one who doesn't understand projections! Please, tell us more about the 15 players Steamer got very wrong last year and how it completely invalidates everything we believe about baseball.
I'm sorry for my previous post. That was meant to be in all caps, but Ju1ced is a commy. So,
HOLY f*** AHAahahahaAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH f***IN BLUE JACKETS ALL HAIL DUBAS AND SHANABAN
You're right, it definitely isn't a skill, because clutchness isn't a skill. So this line of thinking is invalid.
You should probably think about what a skill is.
