  2. What are your thoughts on him? Who Will Land This Offseason's Biggest International Free Agent? - Padres - Padres Mission PADRESMISSION.COM Munetaka Murakami is ready to make his highly anticipated move to Major League Baseball in 2026. Who makes the most sense to land the star slugger?
  3. Twins and Brewers, then Padres. Those are the three places I’ve lived the longest.
  4. I was cheering for the Jays, but it would be disingenuous to call myself a Jays fan. To me, it’s more about the community than the team, though there are some teams I avoid.
  5. A heartbreaking loss for you guys. I was just about losing my mind, and I had no horse in the race. I've been running baseball sites for over 20 years now, and this is the first time I've been able to experience a World Series from the eyes of a fanbase. Thanks to the Blue Jays for that, even if it ended in heartbreak.

  8. Payroll almost has to rise, given they've gone seven games in the World Series. Does this mean the Jays keep Bichette?
  9. Are we all stressed out yet? How are your fingernails doing? Game 7 at Rogers Centre tonight will decide the World Series. The Dodgers forced tonight’s winner-take-all with a 3-1 victory in Toronto on Friday, setting up a marquee pitching matchup: Max Scherzer for the Blue Jays and Shohei Ohtani for the Dodgers. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Reports indicate Ohtani will start on three days’ rest. Game 6 featured Yoshinobu Yamamoto working 6 innings of one-run ball before Los Angeles covered the final nine outs with Justin Wrobleski in the seventh, Roki Sasaki in the eighth, and Tyler Glasnow for the ninth. Glasnow recorded the save on three pitches, ending the game with a line-drive double play started by Kiké Hernández. Kevin Gausman started for Toronto. Scherzer’s assignment gives Toronto a starter with extensive World Series history. He has started Fall Classic games with Detroit in 2012, Washington in 2019, and Texas in 2023, and he took the ball in the most recent Game 7 back in 2019. Scherzer will become the fourth pitcher to start multiple winner-take-all World Series games, joining Bob Gibson, Lew Burdette, and Don Larsen. Under the two-way player usage rules, if he starts as a pitcher, he may continue as the designated hitter upon removal; if he were to enter only in relief and not finish the game on the mound, the Dodgers would forfeit the DH. Should they make a move for the international star slugger?
  19. It's hard to predict how this offseason will unfold, as there is an increasing chance of (yet another) MLB lockout following the 2026 season. Will teams spend big this offseason, hoping to create surety in the face of an unknown collective bargaining agreement? Or will they be hesitant in hopes of a favorable outcome for ownership groups? No matter how it shakes out, teams will need to compete in the 2026 season, and they'll need to sign free agents this winter. DiamondCentric has compiled a complete list of free agents, sortable and searchable by pretty much any metric you need. Looking for a first baseman? A catcher? We have you covered. We offer two pages for your reference: one for position players, the other for pitchers. 20. The 2025 World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers enters Game 5 with the series tied 2-2. In Game 1, Toronto erupted for an 11-4 win, exploiting Los Angeles’ bullpen early. In Game 2, the Dodgers answered with a dominant performance behind starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who threw a complete game and held the Jays to four hits and one run. Game 3 turned into a marathon 18-inning affair, won by Los Angeles via a walk-off home run by Freddie Freeman, and in Game 4, Toronto evened the series with a 6-2 victory behind a key two-run shot by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Rookie right-hander Trey Yesavage gets the nod for the Blue Jays in Game 5 — his second World Series start after beginning the season in Single-A. Yesavage became the second-youngest pitcher ever to start Game 1 of a World Series, at 22 years and 88 days old. He started Game 1 and worked four innings, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks while his team won 11-4. On the Dodgers’ side, veteran left-hander Blake Snell starts Game 5, looking to rebound after a shaky World Series opener. Snell entered the postseason with strong metrics and a 0.86 ERA in his first three starts, but in Game 1, he left with the bases loaded and all inherited runners scored. Meanwhile, the Dodgers’ pitching usage over the past two days has been extreme: Game 3’s 18-inning marathon saw the bullpen use nine relievers to cover 13⅓ innings of one-run ball, the most relievers ever used in a World Series game. The Dodgers' bullpen is their biggest weakness: in the second half of 2025, their 4.37 FIP was 23rd in baseball. 21.
