rydermike Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I'm all for a 4IP Dickey, 4IP Price.
Followthelight Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 LOL at using Dickey over Price...such an idiotic move it defies logic...... This is why we got Price who just had 11 days rest. There is no justification in using Dickey.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 If Dickey goes in and gives up 5 runs in 3 innings and the Jays get eliminated Gibby can't come back and manage next year, this is bad. You traded for Price, use him as he won't resign here. Then put in Stroman for game 5 back in Toronto. I would be fine if we lost with Price on the mound with him being our Ace, however if Dickey shits the bed for us here I will be so pissed and Gibby is a f***ing moron and can't manage the Jays again.
500LevelSTH Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Using Dickey shows the confidence this team has in its four starters. Not many other teams still alive have 4 performing at their level in 2nd half of season. No need to be concerned with the "if he blows up", Jays have found their stroke.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 We wouldn't be here without Dickeys second half, let him start. Yank early if no action on the knuckle ball. Sure. Start an inferior pitcher (good 2nd half) to our ace in a must win game against a LHH line up with lots of pop. If that inferior pitcher gets rocked, bring the ace starter or #2 SP in as a long reliever into high leverage after we fall behind. All of this when we could just start our ace. Makes total sense. We wouldn't really be here without Price or Stro either.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Jays have backs to the wall. Always go with the guys that give you the best chance to win. That's Price today, and Stro in game 5. Unless Price is not 100% then it's not so clear.

nextyear Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Gibbons made the right move. Dickey pitched better today than Price did in relief. I had faith in Dickey and he didn't disappoint Blue Jays fans.
