GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-bloom-is-off-brett-lawries-rose/ Paul Swydan talks/types about what the hell is wrong with Brett Lawrie, namely, the fact that he cannot make a tiny bit of contact anymore. Colby Rasmus also makes an appearance.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 You haven't heard the phrase about the bloom being off the rose? I have not, most certainly not in a baseball context. Flowers and baseball.. I generally keep them separate lol.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I had very high hopes for Lawrie coming into the year, but now he looks like a candidate to go full Ackley/Moustakas/Beckham. This year looks like a complete writeoff. Yeah I no longer expect anything from him offensively. What a shame.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Brett Lawrie looks more like a daffodil to me.
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I'd say he's a thistle. Only the Welsh may be daffodils.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I'd like to think that this time the team will use the excuse of his being injured to let him rehab for a good stretch. Hopefully the team continues to climb towards .500 and they don't feel the need to rush him like they did earlier in the year with him and Romero.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Remember when there was a serious debate on the old forum regarding Lawrie vs. Trout... and taking Lawrie was actually defensible? And now Brett Lawrie is Eric Chavez without the good years.
