Although JD doesn't have much leverage at the moment, he's 32 not 35 or older and when healthy is an All-Star, I don't agree with any of it, and he certainly will not take a pay cut.

I agree on the take, we can still talk to JD and Happ in the off-season regardless. As for Phillips, it's hard to say if the Brewers changed anything or not, or it's just competition, he still walks at a very good rate and he's an above average CF with a cannon for an arm, which makes Pillar expendable, imo.

He might've requested it to catch on somewhere else, but the timing doesn't make sense.

Yeah, they'll value the return over comp pick for sure. I doubt JD would take the QO, rarely you see guys of his caliber take pay cuts.
