I suggested that exact number earlier in this thread. That'll have at least 4 ugly years, but that's the highest I'd go as the Jays FO. That's takes Vladdy to age 38. If Vladdy is looking for much more than that, trade him.

With all the options we just outlined on the 5th year (option based on performance, team option with buyout on 5th year, or reduced salary on 5th year) there's a deal to be made here. Hope Ross can get er done

Aren't there advanced stats that project how many HR he'd hit if he were hitting at RC? Does his bat project well at RC?

How does Santander's bat project at Rogers Centre? Maybe they can compromise on the 5th year being an option year based on performance in the 4th year, or as someone mentioned a reduced salary, so 5 years at $90 million.

Maybe the play as an organization is to trade Vladdy and re-sign Bichette while his value is low. Would Bo accept 7 years $175 million?

If Vladdy wants more than $500M, I think he needs to be traded. Guys with his body type don't age well either. By age 33-34 he'll be completely washed.

I think 12 years x $35 for a total of $420 million gets the deal done. It'll have some bad years but Jays need to re-sign Vladdy. He sells tickets.

My sources tell me Burnes wants to play on the west coast. The Jays $252M offer is accurate but Burnes is using it as leverage to get more money from the Giants or Angels. If they don't move, Jays are still in play.

I'd expect Shapiro to be involved in Vladdy's contract as well, not just Atkins

I agree I'd prefer a shorter term, like 4-6 years, but in return I'd go closer to $30m per season. Guys with Vladdy's body type don't age well.
