  1. Boston going berserk
  2. Someone take the Red Sox keys away.
  3. Josh Hader had two really tough innings back to back in July that caused his ERA to spike from 1.83 to 4.50. Otherwise, he's been dominant as hell. Reliever stats can be really volatile.
  4. That is certainly a solid group. As an aside, Jimi's become the most effective high leverage reliever so that's been an excellent signing. But they all are relievers, less so with Romano, that tend to induce contact. The Jays are missing that pitcher that can come out of the pen in a situation like yesterday and just sit guys down. A high leverage K pitcher - that's what they should be targeting. David Robertson fits that profile nicely - a K% of 31% and a BB% of 11%
  5. Not gonna lie, The Tigers pen had me drooling a lil bit tonight.
  6. Marte and Arroyo is a steep price to pay. This makes me lean towards just getting a depth starter and some pen arms at this point. I was hoping for a high-end SP but not at the price of the best prospects in the org.
  7. That can’t be true can it? They traded Betts away to ensure they had room to sign Bogaerts and Devers. Understanding that negotiations have each side starting at lower vs higher point than where they’re each comfortable landing, that is an offensively low starting point for a guy who’s put up a 6, 5, and pacing another 6 bWar season.
  8. I’m sure something else would have re-aggravated it. Hoping it’s nothing but if the cautious approach is to give him time off then they should do it.
  9. And now we see why it's not a thing.
  10. I assume English is not the first language in this case
  11. They’re missing a whole bunch of key players but that’s less than acceptable even for AAA players.
  12. Wainwright was not easily beatable. When a good pitcher is hitting his spots and his stuff is breaking like it was, it’s very difficult for a hitter’s swing path to follow the pitches and connect with any effectiveness let alone barrel the ball.
  13. Wainwright was at his absolute best last night. Pitching the majority with breaking stuff that moved 18+ inches. His fastball is “ poundable” but no hitters are sitting on it due his pitch usage, at best it’s just gets fouled off mostly.
  14. I’m new here Baseball Fever was my home for 15 years. And while there is still decent discussion it’s a forum that has taken a huge hit in activity. I prefer places like this over a place like Reddit which I tried for a bit - just not a fan of the constant memes and group think that seems to be a phenomenon there.
  15. I think they’re basically dime a dozen prospects but more bullets in the chamber is never a bad thing. Which is completely reasonable for a guy that won’t move the needle a ton, however being able to replace Gallo with a competent AB is solid for them
  16. Finally a move of significance. Open the flood gates!
  17. That Red Sox defense just keeps imploding. I’m trying to remember the last time I’ve seen such a thing over an extended period of time.
  18. The Jays now have a +61 run differential. This is good for a Pythagorean win-loss of 55-42. Last year we were waiting for the Jays record to catch up to expected differential (it never quite did). This year I believe the expected differential has finally caught up to the talent, meaning I believe this is sustainable. Even before in the season when we were at 10 games + 500 I never felt everything was clicking. Right now it feels like everything is and the boys are primed to finish off the season on a tear with Vladdy a big part of that. The Yankees have built up such a huge lead I don’t think they can be caught but the team is regressing. As expected their pitching rotation is falling back down to earth. I suspect the Jays are going to make it a much closer race than anyone could have imagined. Don’t worry I will knock on all the wood after hitting submit.
  19. Marlins also open for business on everyone minus Alcantara.
