    All I'm saying is the Sox would have been a lot more motivated a month or 2 ago when they were still in the WC hunt. They were 8 games off the pace when the game started and clearly out of it, so less motivated IMO. OTOH Thornton is a lot more motivated since he's trying to stay with the team next year. Thats why I read a little less into these September performances Having said TT threw a great 5 innings and I hope he keeps it up.     Occassionally yes, but this season he has started 104 of 111 games he's played in. What I meant was keep him on the team for next few years as a late inning defensive player when trying to protect a lead, or a spot starter when someone gets injured or just needs a rest. He also doesnt become a FA until 2023
