Sources say that at some points in the past the Jays have tried for Rougned Odor, though it’s possible those efforts came before the famous punch-out incident of Blue Jays icon Jose Bautista. Anyway, the Jays are in the market for a second baseman now, so it would be interesting to see if they’d try to revisit that at some point. It isn’t certain when all the inquiries were made, and Odor isn’t the most popular fellow in Toronto now. But as one Jays connected person pointed out, “Bautista’s probably a short timer there.” One interesting connection: Jays president Mark Shapiro employed Rougned’s uncle Rouglas Odor with the Indians for two decades so there is a connection there (Rouglas was a player for seven years in the Indians system, then a coach/manager for another 14). So there’s a link there. Sorry man but Martin is worth every penny. God knows where this team would be this year without him. I appreciate your take on things but not this. If Shatkins were to let it be known that they wanted to get rid of Martin their phones would be ringing off the hook. It seems like you are totally discounting his pitch selection behind the plate as well. Dont you think part of the reason Osuna is Osuna is because he developed because of Russell? Go to the Orioles hangout and read comments lamenting that their catchers don't know how to call a game and that they wish they had Weiters back. Martin may be the only irreplaceable guy on this team.

Holy s***: Jays have now grounded into 101 double plays this season. We're number one in something.

I dont blame this teams performance on Gibbons but perhaps it is time for a change.....just to wake these guys up. Change is needed and damn soon.

Martin, Smoak, Osuna, Barnes, Joe Smith, Stroman and Tepera are the only guys that have been full value this season. The rest have been just.....meh.

Bautista's bat is visibly slower this season. I look forward to the expanded rosters in September....just to see someone else.
