    Maybe in the long run it will benefit pitchers? I don't think so though. In the short term hitters won't be robbed of ab's because the ump is calling strikes for pitches six inches off the plate. Also the batters will appreciate the consistency of the strike zone and adapt accordingly as time passes. Advantage batters.

    Fans at the dome don't really boo when they should. What they do is just not go to games if the product stinks. We could be back to 20k per game in a hurry. It's just the way it is in this town (the leafs are an exception because the suffering is part of fandom). If that happens, Shapiro might be gone.

    Perhaps Shapiro and Co. felt like their hands were finally untied after leaving the frugal Cleveland org. They got a taste of luxury tax payroll and lost the plot. Like drunken sailors on shore leave for the first time in years they started to spend to build a winner and couldn't stop. With the impending renos at the dome they figured they could take a shortcut and buy their way into contention. Bo and Vladdy had other plans.
