It'd be nice to get a PM involving the reason why one gets banned. I have PMs linked directly to my email and got nothing. Banning people is a necessity, some times people get out of control, I may have myself. Is erasing someone's whole account a necessity though? This happened to several posters last night, myself included. Last night a mod acknowledges that a poster is a troll and that he doesn't contribute positively to any conversation. This is what started the whole she-bang. Isn't flat out trolling a bannable offense? Especially since many posters have confessed that they are deterred from certain threads because they know that that poster hangs out there and he doesn't make the thread an enjoyable place. If you can't keep the regular posters engaged how can you expect to bring in new posters?
What I am getting at is that absolute power corrupts absolutely. It's certainly evident when you have mild mannered posters speaking out at questionable bans and power tripping from a moderator like you did last night. There needs to be repercussions for over-moderating when one acts like he's a Gestapo, erasing accounts from their loving, dedicated owners in the middle of the night to be never seen from again.
