    The real question in determining Bruce's trade value is whether 2014 was an off year, or whether Bruce is regressing. Seems to be some data/analysis to support both.

    Bruce had a negative WAR in 2014. Projected 1.4 WAR for 2015.

    He's got 3 more years left on his contract with an AAV of $12.5 million. Decent contract.

    Sign Lester and Melky. Trade away Happ, Dickey, Navarro, and Thole. That's about 25 mill out and about 35 mill in.

    Ya I just looked at Boston's pitching staff, and even if they get Lester, its ugly. Without Lester, they're in big trouble, even with Pablo and Hanley signing.

    Could this be part of a bigger move of Dickey and Thole being traded? You trade those two guys for nothing as a contract dump, and that frees up almost enough money to sign Lester (AAV).

    Astros want a reliever in return. I don't think Happ can be sold as a reliever, as he has openly stated he sees himself as a starter.

    McCown just said Jays are going hard after Lester and are likely to go 7 years. He guesses $140-150 million.
