    I think AA made a bunch of mistakes. His record overall is definitely mixed, but he wasn't turning a fringe team into a team sneaking into the playoffs. 2015 I think we were undoubtedly the best team in baseball and there's some credit due for that. Atlanta he has obviously just inherited at this point. It'll take a few years to see if he makes the same mistakes.

    Good strawman you've built up here. I'm sure there are casual fans that think that way but there are plenty of people who didn't think this team had much of a chance this year, and that we should deal Donaldson and forget about competing for a couple of years. And I mean if the attendance was any indication even casuals weren't expecting us to compete at all. He missed 50 games last year. Holding on to him for three extra months was a risk given his injuries and it backfired. You trade him in the off-season and you simply don't deal with that risk. I don't know why people are so deadset on defending Shatkins here, it was a mistake and we lost value on a good asset. The FO has done an OK job the last couple of years but they've made a couple of mistakes and sometimes it seems like any criticism of that is met with a disproportionate defense.

    Really hope that PTBNL has some value. Shatkins couldn't have foreseen the severity of Donaldsons injury this year, but still an MVP level asset who was worth 5 War just last year and we basically lost all of that value. Not the best asset management.

    It's crazy the number of people at the beginning of this year who said he should not even try to hit. I remember a number of guys on this forum saying it was a waste of time. At this point its clear he's got some of ridiculous raw power. If he figures out how to hit lefties a little better he's gonna be an elite hitter.

    So Jansen's bat is looking like it'll play anywhere, but man if he can be a decent catcher, he's got a shot at being worth 3-4 WAR per year right?

    What on earth did Cavan Biggio do in the winter. He's got a a .407 ISO, good for 2nd in all of baseball. He's not even striking out an unreasonable amount.

    There was definitely some value that wound up going the other way in those deals although it's interesting that out of all those guys, besides Syndergaard, Yunel provided the most value. Most of the other guys providing value are back end pitchers. I think Henderson Alvarez' career as an MLB pitcher is likely over. It's been three years, which is a pity because I liked him a lot. Also I just looked Marisnick's stats this year. He has somehow managed to strike out in 47% of his AB's.

    It's a pretty great movie. I wouldn't name it in my personal top ten, but it wouldn't surprise me that it could be someones favorite movie.

    The way he looks so far I cannot imagine he's still down in AA by July. He has struck out once in 25 plate appearances while hitting for a lot of power. Even in the small sample size that's ridiculous. Honestly I don't know if there's been many prospects with the combination of plate discipline and hitting ability he's shown so far.

    Is Christian Lopes any good defensively? He's kind of grinded through the minor league system for years figuring out each level and hitting decently enough. Does he have a shot at being a useful utility infielder type guy?

    He was also averaging over 10k/9 at high A, so it's not as if he hasn't shown swing and miss stuff all year.

    So it's just four games but damn Vladdy Jr. seems like he has a great eye at the plate. 5 walks already. How quick are him and Bichette gonna move through the system?

    I feel like there was a fangraphs article indicating that he ran into a lot of outs trying to stretch hits or take an extra base from 1st to 3rd.

    Well the Jays have regularly underperformed their expected W/L record according to Pythag with Gibbons around. In his 6 full seasons the Jays won 25 games less than you would have expected given their run differential so there might be something to that rank.

    Until his defense starts falling off? Yeah of course. He's produced either 2.7 or 2.6 WAR depending on which site you want to use. He's one of the best defensive players at any position in the game. Just ride it out until he can't play the position as well anymore.
